2018 Honda Clarity: Road Departure Mitigation, Collision Avoidance System, etc 

The brightness was perfect, great video Brad, by the way the button on the top right hand corner is for the audible sound at low speed so people can hear you coming, you can deactivate it on Canadian models only, lots of fun when you want to sneek up on someone in the parking lot at work and say (you did'nt hear me coming now did ya lolll).

Cool tests! I wished you also tested the collision avoidance system with a cardboard box or something similar.

Brad, I've watched both this and your later ACC video for the Clarity. Not having ever had a car with any of these safety features, I am impressed with the way the ACC works. It slows and stops you and then, as you described, it's easy to get going again per the programmed speed. But, the Collision Mitigation System works totally different and I don't like it (unless it's broken or I'm doing something wrong). I've set the distance to maximum but whenever I start getting close to a car ahead of me, it doesn't start to brake and doesn't beep until I've almost hit the car in front. I was expecting that the same ACC hdwe would see a collision coming and act more like the ACC by releasing the accelerator and start braking for me (while providing the obligatory beeping). Such is not the case. In fact, the other day, I was a bit distracted and swerved just in time to avoid a collision when the beep started to go off. No braking or anything. Can you confirm that this is what you have noticed?
