Funny you should ask! I came back here because I'm in the middle of tuning with the PCVX and I see they don't have a VH grenades/trask intake option. Which one did you choose for yours?

Well I have the same exact set up you have. I mean I have the Vance and Hines Grenades and the Trask Intake. The problem is that they list the Vance and Hines Grenades as "slip ons". I don't believe they even make grenade slip ons for the Scout, at least they aren't on the VH web site so I'm thinking they made a mistake and just meant it is for the regular Grenades. They don't have any Trask intake options but the S&S is virtually the same thing so if I could clarify that they meant the regular grenades I would be set and just use that one. They are unfortunately closed until Monday and I don't want to have to wait the whole weekend to talk to someone. There has to be someone out there that did the PCVX with these popular options. I'm going to ask the forums.

Yeah, for some reason their site isn't bringing up any options for the VH grenades but they are listed as options when I'm not connected. I'm going to have to wait until Monday because they for some reason don't show up with my PV-INFO file. Weird and annoying.

Dazzle Яebel Rides this video is a bit late. I’ve got about 1000km on them now. I have some feelings on them. Mostly good. Will be following up with a video once I get a few more km on them.

Darren ya they do! I suspect his are substantially louder than mine. When I was doing some dyno tuning the tech pulled my baffles out and my god did it get substantially louder.

These bikes are wicked loud with an exhaust. I have been around many modified scouts. I think these bikes are the least obnoxious. I’d give it a 6/10 on the loud scale.

To my knowledge they won’t work with this exhaust. However, it has been done with little effort to relocate the pegs. I know there are write ups on how to do it on the Indian Motorcycle forums.

Lou V thanks for the words. Yes. They are the stock baffles. Came pre installed. I’ve only heard it once without them and it’s unholy loud. I’d say I’m a 6/10 on the loud scale with them in.

Benny Bumb the exhaust doesn’t come with new gaskets. Didn’t have any on hand. Bike only had 500km on it when I swapped the exhaust. So I opted not to. The bobber has only been out for 2 months when I did this swap so parts were very lacking. But yes. You should replace them. I was lucky and didn’t have any issues.

It hasn’t really been an issue for me. I always ride in Kevlar jeans. They ward off the heat well. Are you running the heat shields as well? Or just wrap?

Nick Funaro yes it does.

When I bought it it said it doesn’t fit the bobber. That was end of 2017. It will scrap before the peg in a corner on the bobber. Bobber has lower suspension than a standard scout. There also wasn’t many options in 2017 for the bobber. It had only been out for a few months at that point. I still think it’s the best sounding exhaust on the scout. Not the loudest. Not the quiestest. Just right. There are a few that look better. But that’s all subjective.

CanadianRydz705 I had a tune from dyno jet. They had one specifically for the grenades and Trask intake on my bike. Did the intake. Rode about a week. Did the exhaust and flashed before ever firing it up. I bought the intake,exhaust and tuner all at once durning the 2017 Black Friday sale at revzilla

Vickie the sound of the grenades are in the intro of this video. The install is easy enough. If you have basic hand tools it can be done. Took me about 4 hours.

No. The right passenger peg has to come off. There is still some room for a peg to be placed but it will take a new design or some creative aftermarket parts to make it work. With that said I have the passenger pegs and passenger seat w/back support for sale, only 2 months old.

Lee Gener hey. I haven’t produced a video yet. I wanted to get some real miles on them before i have my opinion. But i ended up going with the nitron R3’s and I love them.

You do loose some lean angle. The exhaust was made for the scout which is a bit of a taller bike than the bobber. As it stands passenger pegs on the bobber will not work with this exhaust without modifications. It can be done fairly easily but it’s not a bolt up affair.

SuburbanHobbyist not necessarily. Seems like most are getting away without a tune. But I wanted full performance so I went with one.

Levan Love so far it’s the lower pipe heat shield. I suspect it’s because the bobber suspension is slightly lower. I think it’s just below the engine badging that scrapes.

Lady Tiger Basketball I don’t believe so? I left everything loose and then tightened at the end. I may have made some adjustments but I installed this about 3 years ago now so I can’t be certain. Are you having issues?

It’s my understanding that they do in fact have quite baffles. I’ve never felt the need for them. For me, the tone is perfect. Not too loud and not too quite. I’d give it a 6.5/10 on the loudness scale. One thing to note is I believe Vance and Hines is discontinuing this model of exhaust. It has a few minor fitment issues on the bobber that the scout didn’t have. I suspect they are discontinuing and doing a rework with a new model to fit the bobber. But that’s just my thoughts. Not confirmation on that. But that being said. These exhaust are being dramatically marked down because of the discontinuation. So good time to buy!

I should have prefaced my statement by telling you that I do have this exhaust on my 2018 Scout bobber... and I do love them but they are loud. I tried 2 different quiet baffles that I was told would fit and ultimately ended up not fitting. Oh well, like I said I love the sound, I was just looking for a little less bark. Aaron Stone email DJ directly. They have the file. They just may not have it posted. That being said. It will get you pretty close. But the experience I had. With mods and the DJ tune I only got 86hp. There abouts. I did a custom tune at a local dyno shop and they got me to 97 or something. A custom tune I’m my opinion is always best. As it’s tuned for your bike in the conditions you’ll be riding. Tuning a bike in Colorado to ride in San Diego just doesn’t make sense. Different elevation. Different gas quality. Different air density.

Jay, Great advice and thank you for the information. I did receive an email from the tech's at Dynojet with a new mystery tune for my bobber. It matched a 2017 Scout with V&H Grenades full exhaust, and S&S air intake. Once I flashed it to the bike the engine does seem to sound as if it runs smoother. However, the overall sound of the exhaust is still rather "off" sounding. Your videos give the impression that it should produce a deep growl, which is so badass. Currently my bike is just loud (which is also badass), but it does not have the deep growl that you got going on. Question: Did you take out the baffling material inside the grenades? Also did you leave in the original mesh o-rings located where the new pipes attach to the engine? I will the bike professionally tuned soon and update you on results. Keep up the awesome videos. Aaron Stone I reused the stock exhaust gaskets. My bike only had about 500 miles when I put the exhaust on. I left the baffles in. One shop I used previously to tune took one out to insert his gas sniffer and oh man was it loud. So I run the baffles and they are still super loud. The DJ tube got me close. But it wasn’t till the custom tune from a very well know shop did their tune. $299 USD. The said the tube from DJ was about 15-20% lean across the rpm range. They fattened it up. Smooth the throttle curve out and played with the idle. I do still have a small flat spot in 1st gear but with the ability for the PVCX to data log. I can send them the file (this shop is in Washington I’m in British Columbia) and they can tweak it and I can reflash my ecu. The only way to go as far as I’m concerned.

Matthew McCoy short answer. No. Long answer. Yes. With some slight modification yes you can. But it won’t be bolt on. You’ll have to fab up a small bracket to relocate.

Jay Fast I’m on the bobber. I love them, I grinned for 2 hours on my first ride on Saturday. Not scraped them, but it was my first ride. I’m from adventure bikes before, I did the Gs trophy in 2014 and I’m converted already.

thechoadsen one I probably wouldn’t do the Vance and Hines. The lower pipe scrapes before the peg does. The welds are sub par in my opinion. Yes they are covered with a heat shield but still. It’s a $1000 exhaust. Now. That being said. I think they scrape because the bobber is lowered. Compared to the standard scout. So maybe V&H needs to tweak the design? I really like the hacker mayhem exhaust. It’s real clean looking. Do your research on the power commander. I believe most scout owners are running the power vision cx.

Alex Niazy yes. Saddles bags fit perfectly. No issues with heat either.

It comes with baffles pre installed. That’s how I run them. These bikes are quite loud without them.

Lee Gener I started with a dyno jet tune that was provided from them based on the mods I had. Local dyno only had me at about 85hp at the wheel. I ended up going to 2 wheel dyno in Kirkland,wa. He set me up on his dyno and did some pulls. He found I was lean all over. He worked his magic and I ended up at 96.5 hp I believe. Bike feels amazing.

Rey Revilla yes. Just a little bit. But after re torquing the clamps and nuts after a few runs it’s been perfect.

hernan gutierrez yes. You will need to unclip the plugs from the wiring harness. Just follow the wiring from the o2 sensor. A wrench will make short work of the 02 sensor. Just make sure you aren’t over twisting and bind up the wires.

I agree. Over priced. However, comparatively priced to other full exhaust systems it’s one of the cheaper options for this bike. Actually Vance and Hines is discontinuing this model and sound alike they are doing a redesign. So it could be had for even less.

akcream nice. Ya with slip ons you can save some money. Also with slipons chances are you won’t need to tune. But. There is a chance you’ll toss a lean mixture code. But cross that bridge when you get there. Just an FYI. These bikes can be fucking loud with certain exhaust. If you are truely wanting to pinch pennies before you spend any remove your mufflers on your bike and go for a ride. Make sure you can handle the noise. The grenades I have on top of being an entire free flowing system (must have tune) do have baffles in them. So I’d give them a 6/10 on the loudnes. With those slipons you’ll be a 8.5/10 on the loudness. But if loud makes you proud. Then rock on!
