2018 Lexus RC350 F Sport Review - Amazing Looks, Decent Performance 

Serendipity, I just ordered a 2018 RC 350 F Sport yesterday. I cross shopped it against the Stinger, BMW 440i, the Audi A5 Sportback, the new Mazda 6 and the Honda Accord Touring. Did not go with the V8 because of insurance, gas cost and maintenance costs, and frankly non-car people think you have a RC-F anyway. I could have bought the RC-F, but I don't get the opportunity to track cars often, and on the street the RC 350 is as much power as you practically need in almost any circumstance, so you wind up with adequate power and you still look like you just dropped $75k on a RC-F. The reason I BOUGHT a RC is because on all the German cars, having owned a BMW 328 for 8 years, I can tell you that upkeep on service and parts is insane on German cars. The Lexus is the cheapest luxury brand to keep in the USA. If you want to to put a luxury car in your driveway, it's the cheapest way to go, since the 440i and the A5 are both more expensive, both to buy and to service. Comparing the ownership experiences you should always buy the Lexus, lease a German cars, because once a BMW gets some age on it, things start to fall apart and break and they are very expensive to fix. Last year along I dropped $6000 into my 2010 328xi just to keep it on the road. Given Lexus' reputation for reliability, I doubt the ownership experience will be like that. Plus you have to consider what you're realistically doing with the car. For me, my requirements are reliable transportion with a helping of comfort since I work 12-14 hour days doing hard machine work. I'm on my feet all day, grinding, machining, doing generally difficult labor, and when I walk out to my car at night I just want to sit down in a nice car that looks like it came from the freaking future and be carried home in comfort. Plus money is a precious resource, I want to keep the car for 10 years, so I need something that will last and I want something that is going to be so cool I WANT to keep it for 10 years. My 328xi was a compromise because I bought that before my work really took off, but now that I have the resources to afford what I want, I chose the RC 350. Idk, makes sense to me. You get reliability, comfort/luxury, a really cool looking exotic car, it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to buy or keep on the road and it's plenty fast for all your daily needs.

No matter how fast your car is, there's someone with a faster car so the RC350 is fine.

I got this car 3 days ago, and I can’t stop smiling. I am not into RPMs and racing, and try to stay within 10 miles of whatever the speed limit is. This car is perfect for me and my driving style. The seats are pure comfort, and to me, the entire layout is damn near perfect, it’s striking. I have a light interior which contrasts nicely to the dark outside. The engine has a nice little growl and in sport mode is amplified in the interior. You can do almost everything by voice commands. You can just tell it to make it warmer or cooler, the voice recognition is something else. It is not limited to a few commands nor do you have to use an explicit command for it to recognize what you want it to do. The track pad does take some getting used to, but just like a laptop you get used to it. I’m already used to it but if you don’t like using it just use a voice command instead. If you like the way this car looks and aren’t looking to blow the doors off every car you see, give this car a shot. It is no slouch and takes me right on the highway and it sure does have passing power and the ability to get up and go when you need to punch it. I don’t know that I could be any happier with another car in this price range. For me, it’s exactly what I’m wanted. Oh, I do read manuals, one of my favorite things to do with a new car.

people say its slow? man 311hp is above the average car.

BTW the trim is not carbon fiber, it's jeweled/engine turned aluminum. I do this process a lot in the knives I make; it's a finishing technique that's very labor intensive where you swirl a kratex bit loaded with diamond abrasive over the material to create that effect. You see it a lot on high end watches and it's VERY expensive and time consuming to do.

My mom has the 2017 Lexus RX 350. That’s a nice car. Lexus has stepped up even more in the looks department. A car to compete with this would be the Infiniti QX 60 Coupe in my opinion.

I recently bought a blue 2015 RC 350 F Sport! I was really torn between the two, so I read and watched countless reviews on this and the RC F... In the end, it seemed like the 350 would be more comfortable and practical for my needs. I never drove the RC F, but I did take this on a 4 hour road trip over the weekend and don’t think I could have been happier. I also have a 2002 Mustang GT, and while this is a little slower, I don’t miss the V8 power as much as I thought I would. Also, I do read the instructions, but hopefully PDF counts :-)

i have owned 5 different Lexus vehicles and currently own a 1995 SC400 with 81k miles, if i had the money and was in the market for a sporty luxury coupe this RC350 would be something i would strongly consider, Lexus reliability and build, great ergonomics and real buttons, it looks great inside and out, it has more then enough power then i need , honestly the RC300 blackline would be fine for me , plus the awd would be great up here in alaska

Just saw a 2015 350 F Sport AWD with only 6k miles for around $32k. Went to the dealer and test drove it; it's practical and sexy. Definitely worth buying especially when a mildly used one goes for the price of a new Camry.

I have a white 2016 Rc350 F-sport. Initially, it was between this or the RcF and the reason I didn't go for the RcF was because I'm a full time student. The V8 would have killed me with gas other than that I really wanted it. Everything you guys said about this car is true. My car has a glossy black roof vinyl and blacked out windows and the amount of heads it breaks is ridiculous. It has okay hp (306) but literally no one has this car and it really stands out.

Hey guys, great review. I picked up this car in 2015 and heavily cross shopped it with the Audi A5/S5 and the then BWM 435. The A5/S5 got axed just because the design was long in tooth and played out. While the 435 was a wonderful drive, it did not stand out in the ocean of 328s that is Toronto and had a bit of a 2-door Jetta feel. I personally loved the look of the RC350. The car comes well appointed, but it's not perfect by any means. You addressed a few of my gripes which I managed to resolve with some factory and after-market upgrades: 1) The Caprice Classic like suspension woes went away by lowering the car with Tanabe Sustect NF210 springs... the car handles exceptionally well and the way lower than advertised drop means I can no longer can fist the wheel gap up front. As an added bonus the car looks absolutely fantastic lowered. 2) Added the Lexus F-Sport Performance exhaust. At about $2500 it's pricey, but sounds beautiful and clean. There's no Civic soup can rasp at all) 3) Replaced the OE airbox with AFE Power's Takeda intake; it's LOUD but doesn't drone. The car sounds menacing on WOT! 4) Added 25 horsepower with the beautiful factory rear deck spoiler, it really completes the look. All in all it's not the fastest car but it when I'm spending 1.5 hours on my 18km office commute, it's incredibly comfortable, the AWD drive allows this car to be a "beast" in the snow, ice and rain, the USB 2.0 Mica paint dazzles when waxed... and I get lots of waves from pretty women :) *BONUS* You also can put a large size rear-facing infant/toddler car in the back. I recommend all men to buy this car as soon as their wives inform them of upcoming baby.

I really like this car to the point that 306hp is enough for me and I'm in my early 30's

I bought the exact same specs a year ago, but it's a 2015. Same color, 350 F-sport AWD. I just fell in love with the looks. It just looks so different from everything else out there. I wanted a daily driver for winter as well (shout out from Quebec), so the RCF felt a little too extreme (and 20k more so out of my budget!) It's a great car but I agree it's not a full-on sports car. It's a head turner though!

Linear acceleration, most of the power at lower RPMs, powerful but not really fast...honestly if I’m not getting sporty performance out of a car like the RC, why wouldn’t I just go with the SUV that drives almost the same? Just my $0.02 CAD.

Absolutely agree. People hate on this car sometimes because they try to make direct comparisons to other sport coupes and they then claim that it isn't "sporty" enough. It's a great grand touring car and I feel as though Lexus should have stressed this fact more when marketing it and even the RCF as opposed to allowing it be seen as a direct M4, RS5 and C63 competitor.

I have a 2019 RC350 F sport and I have solved the negative rake and made this car the way it should have been, looks stunning now!!!

Honestly I love everything about this generation RC. Love the interior/exteiror with silver paint&red lesther. However rc350 just feels not fast enough, just a bit underpowered.

They need to get rid of that N/A V6 , either go the Turbo or Supercharger route

I bought that one in gray with a suspension kit by lexus and different wheels because they gave me a really good discount. I love the way it looks, it was my everyday so I didn’t want anything crazy.

You Guys are the best! It’s a lot of fun to watch your reviews. Even my wife, who isn’t in to cars likes your show. The only thing what we do not get is your constant problem with the “Turn Signal” mostly with BMW. You tip it and the car signals (up to) three times, so you use this method most of the time. You push it the whole way when you want to drive around corners. The signal stops when the stearingwheel is straight again. Isn't this the regular way?
