This biggest problem with these cars is they fall into the category of cars that the people who want them can’t afford them and the people that can afford them don’t want them.

i'd take this over a GT Mustang. I have only seen 3 of these in real life. I see Mustangs all the time. It may not be as fast as the Ford or V8 Camaro but it will be a lot more comfy and have more safety features which will be handy with that 400+ horsepower. Its still faster than almost anything else on the road.

Every time I see one in person I'm impressed. It has a very Japanese muscle car look. If I were in the market (and had oodles of disposable income) I would buy this for all the reasons people don't. Good looks, but not over the top, decent power and handling, but not harsh or out of control. It seems more of a GT type car, something you could live with daily and be comfortable. And honestly they are relatively cheap because no one bought them, so win win.

The wing is not a wing, but a spoiler that increases pressure on the rear windscreen at high speeds. These decrease drag and lift over the rear wheels and are very functional.

I’ve tracked many cars over the years, and I currently own a Supra Launch Edition. The RC-F is hands down the best track day car I’ve ever owned. Drive it to the track in comfort, thrash it for the day, and drive it home knowing it is going to get you there. It is the most under rated vehicle of my lifetime. If anyone knows PIR, 149mph down the front straight, and it would pull away from most track prepped race day cars in the corners. The car is fantastic to anyone who spends the time getting to know it.

Back when the RC-F launched, I went to a RC-F driving event at Sonoma speedway. Drove the RC-F for three controlled laps. Slow shifter, heavy feeling and all the other points Doug mentioned. Then we were given a choice to get a power lap as a passenger with a skilled driver or to drive the M4 with DCT. I chose to drive the M4. What a difference!! The M4 felt faster, more nimble and way better steering feel. I left the event wanting an M4 and told the event staff the brutal truth of how much better the M4 really was at the track.

From a graphic design perspective Lexus uses their “L” logo in different places on their car they are just turned at different angles or backwards. Like the little silver piece at the rear of the side window. The outer edges of the front grill that everyone seems to have an issue about. The turn signal. Lexus just turns their “L” in hidden different angles. They have a good graphic design taste in their vehicles

Fast forward to 2022 a bmw m4 can be had for 35k with very high maintenance and repair costs, the rcf still in mid to upper 40’s and overall very reliable with very little issues.

The RC F will be more reliable then an M4 thats for sure.

Dealers say that two door cars have "rear seats" to keep insurance cost down. Insurance premium is cheaper when 4 seats are present as compared to a strict two seater within sport cars like the GTR and ect.

Previous Lexus worker here, I can give a lil insight from the inside: Lexus vehicles in general arent selling as much as the company wants due to the fact that many of the features are several generations behind, as well many of the features are very dumb or difficult to remember, for example, the RC models turn signal switch doesn't stay in the direction you've flicked it, instead it works more like a really long button.

A comment on the rear seats. I'm 5'11". It takes a little bit of gymnastics to get in. As long as the seats aren't all the way back (because they will go allll the way back) there is enough room for your feet and legs, though your knees might stick out from the side. The seat itself is actually pretty comfortable back there. As long as you have that little bit of leg room, its enough for maybe a couple of hour trip at most.

If this had a BMW badge, Doug would be licking its exhaust pipes.

The buyer for this car wants the reliability, the fact you can happily go for a squirt in this thing and not worry about damaging your internals costing you thousands. The engineering behind this car out ways everything BMW or Mercedes has to offer. This video doesn't do this car justice.

Doug you really should get a single guy that's an uncle like me to review coupes. I have a 2010 Camaro SS, and it's comfortable to drive, the small back seats are great for my dogs, or niece/nephews. This Lexus has some cool comforts for the back and as you said, Lexus is discounting these puppies! Here in Canada, dealers are buying over market value to ship down to the U.S. because used cars are apparently in demand down there, so if I can get a better deal for my Camaro than I bought it for, and Toyota wants to give me a better deal to get rid of an incredibly well designed and well built Lexus that should be the real Supra, this seems like a really cool upgrade from my car. There's all types of demographics that would love different cars, they just have to be marketed fairly.

I currently Own a 2017 Lexus RCF and used to own a 2016 bmw m4. Let me say i love my RCF Way more than the m4. My m4 was in and out the shop. It’s a piece of mind that my lexus won’t break down even after modding it. My m4 had a crank upgrade and still took a shit

My son had a relatively low mileage 130i which cost him a fortune in repairs. Now he has one of these. Having driven them both and plenty of BMW's prior the word I would use to describe the RC-F is Refined. Lovely, smooth, powerful with beautiful engine note, and rear seats big enough for a small adult. Nice.

Call me crazy if you must, but I'd choose the RC-F (or now the IS 500) even if the price was exactly the same as a similarly equipped BMW 4 series, and it's not because I'm a Bimmer hater. The Lexus V8 is just soooo smooth and great sounding, maybe my fave V8 that isn't made by Ferrari tbh. Also there's the fact I see 4 series (and BMW's of all types) every single day where I live in North Texas, but the RC-F is a far rarer sight. I mean sure Lexus could have done a little more to distinguish this from an RC-350, but I think it's subtlety is one of it's strong suits. That and the fact it would be a good car to own after the lease/warranty is up.

I came here just to say I recently rented an RC-F and managed to get 4 adults inside... Granted, my gf is like 5'2 so she's the only person who could sit behind me, but my friends managed to squeeze into the passenger side with a 6'3 adult in front and a 5'10 adult in back B)
