Full disclosure the MT10 is the first 'litre bike' I've had the option of riding and I'm glad to report that it was an absolute blast.
For the most part I wanted to answer two questions. First, am I experienced enough yet to feel comfortable on a 'big' bike? And second, does the MT10 live up to the hype? Yes and oh my god yes.
The MT10 may be an exceptionally powerful bike, but I wouldn't call it intimidating. It is seriously light for a bike of it's performance, is as agile as any middle weight naked and for a bike that power wheelies as effortlessly as it does, the rider modes manage to tame all those raucous ponies from bolting the stable too soon. Treat the bike well and it will reward you with one of the most versatile riding experiences £14000 can buy you.
Give it a go, you wont regret it.

Thank you bro. I came across your channel looking for and in depth mt10 sp review and you didn’t disappoint. I was going for an r6 having previously own one but I’m an older man now and ss ergs no longer are for me. Now I’m just try a find the lowest mileage example I can.

I’ve bought my sp last year and I absolutely love it, I’ve got the comfort seat and that is great , had the suspension setup for me by ohlins technician and that has made it steer and ride bumps much better (it was very good to start with) fuel consumption isn’t the best , but I don’t care to be honest, I just love my bike it’s great and will be getting more carbon fibre parts soon for it to make it mine😄

That's the most important thing. Doesn't matter what anyone else says or thinks about your bike as long as you enjoy it. That said I've yet to meet anyone with a bad word to say about the MT10. Enjoy.

Nice impression of GM, bang on! I actually thought it was him...until I noticed the same gloves and gear on 'both' riders! lol

Bought my stock MT10 two years ago for under £10K new, proper bargain for that bike. Still amazingly got a clean licence (but I am old) The only good thing about being old is I can insure this insane machine for £150.00 fully comp. No warranty issues in 13,000 miles, best bike I've ever owned. Biggest issue with it...... range, fuel light on around 100 miles, out completely by 120. Ride it really hard take 10 miles off that range.
@RarefiedRoad
@RarefiedRoad 6 лет назад
Wow that is really bad range for a bike of this size. I think I heard similar about the R1 which would make sense. It is a properly crackin machine, it will definitely go down as a renowned success for Yamaha.

Great verdict I'm looking to upgrade from my MT-07 as I've had it for 3 years almost. I'm hoping to get an SP if not the standard version whatever is at the best price in the second hand market next year.
@RarefiedRoad
@RarefiedRoad 5 лет назад
Good step up, personally I'd jump to the MT10 over the 09 as well. You'll probably find the standard version a little easier to get hold of as they've been out a little longer and there are more to choose from.

Great review sir! However my question is this. Mt10 sp or speed triple rs in your opinion? Haven't ridden either yet but the MT is pretty ugly, though annoyingly im attracted to it and can't stop thinking about it. Or the rugged yet handsome RS which seems like it wouldn't quite give the same 4th gear power wheelies, but still giving enough lofting ability to adequately entertain? But the triumph gives you a better laptime and corner speed and creamy throttle response??? I'm referring to pb mags comparison between them last year! And.....go....
@RarefiedRoad
@RarefiedRoad 5 лет назад
Yep I'd agree with the summary. Out of the two I would go for the Speed Triple. It is faster on a track, a little smaller and more manageable and I actually think slightly better value for money. I think it depends more though on which you get on with better out of a four cylinder or a torquey triple? Honestly there's not an awful lot in it but I think it sounds like you're leaning towards the Triumph anyway so... good choice :)

By the way, could you please consider using a Lav or any External Mic to record engine sounds separately? I mean, it's just bad NOT being able to hear a CP4 engine.

I've had the bmw s1000r monster 1200 r and then I bought the 10sp and this beats them both in my opinion, best bike I've owned to date, And whoever says the brakes are bad are talking out there ass they stop on the button.
@RarefiedRoad
@RarefiedRoad 6 лет назад
Glad to hear that, it is a great bike. And I don't think the breaks are bad either, but I think the complaint was that for the extra money and the SP title they could have been tweaked over the base MT10 or maybe even outsourced and gone with the Brembo M50's.

Great review! Any idea why the SP isn't sold in the US? I wish it was!
@RarefiedRoad
@RarefiedRoad 5 лет назад
Thank you. Unfortunately not, I don't even know if Yamaha have explained it yet. I'd guess one of two things, either it doesn't meet US regulations (which I think is unlikely) or they just don't think it'll sell. Either way it's a shame.

Have the SP also and I'm very satisfied. Are those original Yamaha wind difusors mounted on the front mask?
@RarefiedRoad
@RarefiedRoad 6 лет назад
Very jealous. They're actually aftermarket from Yamaha, listed on their site at £81.10 in the UK.

there is no a mode on the sp every one that gets on the sp are not changing power modes on dash its pwr1 the fast mode
@dionplant9197

PWR1 is 100% throttle at 50% twist, PWR2 is 100% throttle at 75% twist & PWR3 is 100% throttle at 100% twist, the higher you go, the less twitchy it is to ride.
@adriantompson
@adriantompson 6 лет назад
mine isnt look at a vide of mine called clwedog dam sp10sp you all need to learn to ride fast bikes can do 15mph one handed in first and 20mph in second gear in pwr1 . loads power. brakes will put you over the bar s

pity you didn't use the most aggressive mode (mode b) to see what it can really do
@RarefiedRoad
@RarefiedRoad 6 лет назад
Actually they had a switch around with the newer models and mode A is now the most aggressive. It was nice I have to say, not intimidating but still massively powerful.

Yeah I'll be honest, being an SP they probably should have improved the brakes over the original.
