ansaree97 I just picked up one of these, the same hybrid features in this video in the same chalk colour but loaded with more options. I’m very disappointed with this car and here’s why. It’s not a small car to begin with and there are many big heavy cars on the market such as the Bentley, Mercedes S class, Bmw 7 series, full size suv like the Range Rover or G class so on and so forth. The Panamera gives the illusion(or not) that the car feels “big” and heavy while other manufacturers try to make big cars “feel” smaller. It’s difficult for the driver to “sense” the size of the car when doing parallel parking on the street or maneuvering through tight spaces inside an underground parking lot. While the car gives the impression of “big” the legroom for the rear passengers are just “okay” unless you go with the extended wheelbase version of the Panamera and trunk space is somewhat limited. The ride is supple, steering is on the heavy side and it doesn’t handle well. Its unpredictable and doesn’t give the driver a whole lot of confidence. The Porsche GT3 and GT3RS handles exceptionally well and not many manufacturers have that kind of know how but Panamera owners get non of that. Comparing with those cars are unfair so if we compare the Panamera to say Maserati, or the new Lexus LS, the later two are far superior. Even though the Panamera hybrid advertises to have 460hp, in reality it doesn’t “feel” like it has that much power. The C63 feels powerful. The GLS63 feels powerful, Range Rover supercharge feels powerful The Panamera hybrid feels it has 100hp less. In a separate post I’ll talk about how switching between 2modes (electric/gasoline) makes the car behave very differently and the way Porsche setup the car makes it difficult and unpleasant for the driver to drive the car smoothly.

fijod i think panamera is the luxury sedan more than sport car . If u want to feel the power , u can buy M-bmw as well as AMG, or u can pay more to get panamera Turbo (S) .Nowadays , every new expensive car has the camera 360 with full sensors and it’s quite easy to park somewhere. Just my opinion :))

@@fijod You say you picked up one of these but do you own one? I've had my e hybrid for 12 months. Yes its a big car but i don't find it any more difficult to drive than any other large car. I have rear wheel steering so maybe that makes a difference. Yes it drives differently in electric only and sport plus and yes the regenerative brakes take a little getting used to but guess what its a hybrid GT. If you dont want a hybrid GT dont buy one. I travel to work in electric and play a little in petrol but if i want to really play i don't take the Panamera i take the 991. If i want to go off road i take our Hilux, definitely not a Range Rover, mine spent more time in the garage than on the road. As a beautifully made, luxurious, comfortable cruiser personally i don't think you can beat the Panamera and I've been fortunate enough to have owned recently an S Class and a Maserati and will again no doubt. But first a 992 then a Tycan and who knows maybe even a Tesla. Its horses for courses. Just relax and enjoy.

Full gasoline

I have two plugin hybrids and one full electric. For long distance driving, my plugin hybrid Volt or Cmax Energi are great. For in town stuff the Chevy Spark EV with 400lbft of torque is a barrel of laughs. Once rapid DC charging can be done in under 15 minutes and more charging networks as extensive as Teslas are deployed, full EV will be the way to go. Once you go ELECTRIC, you never go back!

I think an extended long range ev is necessary for today, since chargers are still practically non-existent round where I live. I love the fact that I can have an electric car and not have range anxiety.

Christian Baumann Hybrids are a much better long-term solution. Electric cars have good short-distance acceleration, but that's about it. No gear changes, no exhaust note. Hybrids actually feel like proper cars, but with the advantage of instant torque. I'd take the Panamera Hybrid over the P100D any day.
