I appreciate the in depth reviews and explanation in this video.... You guys provided plenty of reasoning for your decision.... People say you’re “sponsored”, “always pick Polaris” and things like that because their “brand” wasn’t picked.... If you went with skidoo, the Polaris guys would say you’re biased, arctic cat and the skidoo guys would say it, etc! haha.... Can’t win really!! Anyway, good video as always.... keep up the good work and we look forward to more next year!! 👍

We explained a bit in the video but ill explain more here about why the Arctic Cat was not an RR... We only evaluate sleds we have thousands of miles on. The the only way to form REAL opinions based on experience. Not just on one ride or a few rides. It takes a full season before we feel our opinions are relevant enough to share. This means we only choose sleds we have had for the season and while im sure most people assume we simply ask for whatever we want and we get all of it... thats not the case. Some years its more difficult than others to get the exact models we want from every manufacturer. This season, with Arctic Cats switch to Textron there were some behind the scenes details that needed to be worked out and it simply meant we couldnt get an 800RR... which is what we really wanted. Because of this, the ZR800 is what we tested. I believe we covered that other models have different shock packages that would have changed the scores a bit... but ive gone back and looked it all over again and the fact is simply that it would not have changed where the sled finished. We should be able to get an RR next year, but after a full winter of riding, we may feel there is another Arctic Cat model that best embodies the spirit of our Real World Sled of the Year award... We dont pick the contenders now... we pick them at the end of the winter so only time will tell. But now you know WHY an RR wasnt in this competition.

If it isnt or cant be 100 percent equal comparisons, then dont call it one. You have only been doing this job for how many years and every year? An 850 isnt a 800! No doubt in my mind the polaris and the skidoo are very nice sleds but also they were models with the best shock packages. Why was the RR 137" not used for the cat entry or even the limited at least comes with qs3's. If we are going to compare msrp's I do think that the cat comes in on the bottom of this line up cost wise. I love watching snow trax and in no way is this a bad review of the show but if we as viewers are going to be able to respect the decisions made in the "real world sled of the year" make it fair to all brands. With the new ergos on the '19 cats it should be a new battle but please if you are going to use the top dogs from ski doo and polaris bring the big guns from the other 2 oems as well.

I switched from Doo to Poo years ago for the very thing they talk about. The doo is nervous in handling compared to the Poo plus the very forward design, almost on your toes type of ergos. I did not love it but I was a Doo guy. I than got to ride my friends Poo and I was impressed enough to switch brands. I am on my 2nd Poo and have had nothing but amazing luck with them both. 14k on my old 800 with no issues and currently have 12k on my 16 Axys SB 800 and am just in love with it. Best sled I have owned hands down. Yes the engine is not an etec in smoothness, it smokes half of the time A LOT or with its fuel mileage but that is all i can say where the Doo is better but not by a lot. For comparison I ride with a few 800 Etecs plus I also ride with several Sidewinders and at cruising speed I am easily $8 per tank more (ouch) but if we are hammering on it we are within dollars of each other. The Hurricane tuned 270HP Winder is honestly the more fuel efficient of us, that thing is very impressive. I have beaten the stock Winder a few times also with fuel mileage and I am pretty much always leading so they are following my pace. I also wanted to say I love snowmobiling. All brands make amazing sleds and the choices we have is just mind blowing. I choose Poo because it is the best fit for me. Not even a close 2nd. I wish winter was longer. Take care all. :)

You know, I watch a lot of what you guys put out and it's not that I don't disagree with most of the stuff you guys talk about but I do find you guys to be very Polaris bias, if I could put it that way. Skidoo hands down IMO are a far nicer looking sled to start. Performance wise Skidoo is leaps and bounds ahead and have been for years. Talk fuel economy, again Skidoo is superior. I have rode both and find Polaris does have a nice ride but when crushin the go fast lever on the Skidoo 850 or the new 650......well quite simply...no comparison period! Add Skidoo's "piggyback" shock package and they straight up dominate trail. You say these are unbiased opinions and such, it sure does feel that way to me. Again this is just how I see it folks. Thumbs up if you agree.

Truth... we simply didnt have any. This season our entire fleet ran nearly perfect all season. Thats not always the case but the fact is, we simply cant comment on long term reliability because we test new sleds each season. Its the nature of what we do. We also dont rely on internet stories to judge reliability because its just not a true measure of a sleds reliability. What we do get info on from time to time is warranty number from the MFG's... and believe it or not, they are all nearly identical. There is no one brand that is "junk"...

I find some of these comments, somewhat amusing. I had to stop riding 10 years ago, due to several weeks of extreme pain, only to have my Dr, after exrays, and an MRI, tell me, if you don’t stop riding those things the way you do, you won’t be walking when your 50. Well I’m still walking, But I can’t get riding snowmobiles out of my mind. And now I’m 53. I’ve ridden Yamaha most of my adult life, and that includes motorcycles. I’ve had 8 Yamaha motorcycles. And I switched to a RoadGlide Ultra in May of 17. Hands down Harley is Finely better. I watch these shows, to keep up with the industry, thinking maybe? Just maybe I could ride a sled once again. Yes I need a plush ride. Millage is somewhat important, but if it won’t turn in the corners......it’s useless for anyone. Keep up the good work Boys, ya got me thinking, maybe I should try it again. Maybe. I really wish we could test drive these sleds, like, we sometimes can bikes. 5-30 miles, with a mix of all terrines. I’m not married to one brand any more, Hell the best thing that’s happened, is becoming single. Keep up the good work boys. You’ve got an ol man thinkin again.

This is where everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I respect yours... you fit and feel comfortable on the Ski-doo which is great and I wont argue with you... and I by no means think its a bad feeling or bad handling sled. But after dozens of people, both from our crew and people we have brought along for rides, got off these sleds... the vast majority said they preferred the handling and ergos of the polaris. Many of them were ski-doo riders who still wouldnt buy a polaris... but they agreed it felt better to sit on and handled more predictably. Your not wrong, neither are we.

Worst fit&finish = Polaris - sled of the year. Most nervous front end = Ski-doo = "be on your game" (before you smoke a tree !)(never blamed the ski's or shock, so it is the chassis or a r-motion issue) Yamaha sucks, because of Yamaha's only ski package. Arctic Cat sucks, because they didn't use a Kitty with QS3's (even though AC sells that package.) So what I read from this is ZR 8000 137 Limited is 2-stroke of the Year. (comes with QS3's) ... if you can handle the seat height. ZR 7000 137 Limited is 4-stroke of the year. (comes with QS3's .... and cures Yami's ski and clutch issues) Fit & finish mean something to some. What is my life & sled worth after hitting a tree, because of getting fatigued from a nervous front end? Yeah, my age is showing.

In the real world, if I’m eating lunch after a 100 mile morning and see anyone of you in the parking lot, I will probably say nice sled, how do you like it, don’t really judge you for what you ride. Might even buy you a drink later.

I agree, not saying my arctic cat RR would have won, but at least give it a fair shot against xrs, xcr. How did the mxz x 850 win last year and then an unchanged xcr win this year? Still like the show as they usually give good opinions

I still like the show, I do think they have good opinions but they never talk reliability. All i hear is how the Ski-Doo 850 has awful belt life issues and I've never heard them mention it once. Maybe they got lucky and it wasn't an issue, but I don't know. I agree they should be using the best Arctic Cat for a fair comparison.

Troy Peel a guy I know(rides a 2017 850 skidoo) came across two 2018 skidoo 850's with blown engines on the side of the road. Both sleds let go at the same time from over heating! So it's not just belt issues. Not to mention they look as good as a Pontiac Aztec. Putredly ugly!

I agree with some others here. You guys like polaris too much. Even in your dirt trax you rate the polaris higher. Some cases yes they can be better but other ones no. They cant always win. U can say all u want but youre bought and wont test them with open eyes anymore. Thumbs down for you guys im watchig less and less videos from u om both channels. Its low quality testing lots of speaking. Show more driving! And for god sake test ski-doo / lynx thats in the same segment as the others. One more bad video and youre going to loose a watcher that shares your videos ALOT!

So your telling me the fact that Skidoo won not just sled of the year last year but ALSO the RAD award AND won the Rad award this year AND came a close second for this seasons sled of the year is proof polaris has bought our opinions? REALLY man? Think that through for a second. If that were true, do you think polaris would be happy with us? We rate sleds on all kids of levels. But at the end of the day, a large group of non biased (no, im not kidding, we are... as much as you disagree) riders all said theyd prefer to ride the polaris. Its not just me, or mark, or even AJ... and its not just the snowtrax crew. We let dozens of people ride our sleds every year and listen to their opinions. Whats amazing is that once you pull a guy from behind his keyboard and ride with him, talk with him, get HIS UNBIASED opinion... its not always what they thought it was going to be. Mine isnt either. Im surprised by my opinions sometimes. I dont mean this to sound harsh, but it HAS to be the truth, I just dont care what you think. I cant allow the less informed opinions of people who disagree with me to dictate how we test things or what my opinions are. That would be exactly the same thing as if I let any of the manufacturers have any influence on my opinions. We ride all the sleds, back to back, day after day after day after day in all conditions, all over north america. We dont just "try a buddies sled" or "take a ride on a sled"... we put thousands of miles on ALL the sleds. Maybe youve ridden a polaris recently... maybe you didnt like it. But did you put thousands of miles on one? Not likely. You cant judge a sled by a single ride, or a few rides even. Which is why we dont do that. At the end of the day, you have the God given right to agree or disagree with us, to watch or not watch the show and to be accusatory and antagonistic or reasonable and polite. Only you can choose which one you go with.

Luke Lester ive ridden many miles with many makes. But one thing for sure. I wont recomend youre videos and such for all my social followers. Theyve got bad and too much talking. And now this answer to me. Maybe show more of those that try the sleds than just sitting in your garage talking about it..show us the driving! You should try once to do that. And maybe try some of the skidoo work models not just the play and " track" models. No youve just lost a watcher and probably more. Too bad bcs i liked this programs before something happend.

Don't listen to this joker. There are dozens of people who ride professionally and post plenty of videos of them tearing it up. Your reviews, opinions, and commentary is what makes your channel special. There is real educational content in your videos; I'm not here to just watch someone else ride a sled. I'm here for exactly what you produce.
