120k on my Forester, 3rd damn AC pump in its lifetime. Never had this issue on my other 8 Subaru's I've owned. Going back to old Japanese cars, not this Indiana "made in America" crap. Thanks for showing me how to save some $$ doing it myself, I was quoted 1000$ just for the pump!
Thanks! I suspected this was the problem that just happened yesterday with my ac because it stopped working mid drive. Did the diagnostic and it’s definitely the compressor failing and the clutch doesn’t engage. Thankfully it should be a covered repair and this makes it easier to schedule work knowing what I need…
Sure! I just wouldn’t turn the AC on while taking it there although it probably wouldn’t let the compressor come on anyway, and make sure it’s out of all Freon before trying to change it.
@@Natesautorepairs I glanced over the video, it’s kind of an emergency fix so my wife can go to work tomorrow. Can you bleed the pressure off using the high and low caps on the line
So at the end of the video when it said “it runs” and it shows the AC compressor kicking on. It is making a buzzing noise. My 2016 crosstrek is making that same noise, is that normal to sound like that? Thank!

Not that cost effective all the time and if the compressor is what caused the clutch to go bad it will end up being a waste when the next one goes bad again. Better to just do the whole thing for sure!
Did you check the amount and condition of oil in the old compressor? How else would you know whether or not to add/subtract oil? If there was some kind of debris in the old oil, you just ruined the new unit because you didn't flush the system. Jeez.
Jeeze the luxury of having an AC machine that sucks the oil out for you. Jeeze a new compressor comes with the correct amount of oil in it. Jeeze 😂😂😂😂 I know the customer personally and know that the new unit isn’t “ruined” and runs Colder than ever.
@@Natesautorepairs recovery machine doesn't suck all the old system oil out... You're supposed to drain the oil from the old compressor and measure it, then adjust or add fresh oil in the same amount to the new compressor before install.
@@MrSubaru1387 haha I know, the new one came with the same amount in it as the old one. I should’ve reiterated the way I replied to that haha. But yes I did not mention that at all in the video which was my mistake.

@@MrSubaru1387 What if you're replacing two components...like the compressor AND the condenser? I can obviously drain/measure the oil from the old compressor, but is it possible to drain/measure the oil from the old condenser (and drier)? Is there an educated guess on how much to add back to the system to account for the lost condenser oil?
