I mean I just turned 19 and bought a 2018 corrola....I've always owned shitty used cars so feels like a million bucks to me. Drives amazing sport mode is fast as I need inside is super nice dont see why people gotta hate it's a entry level car not a turbocharged hellcat Edit. 2 years later I have been itching to buy a audi s4 or Mercedes Benz c43 amg....but all I hear is that they are a money pit...im honesty still happy with my corolla and I think I take the reliability for granted. Never had any issues
The best selling car in the world that has been around for over 50 years. Not everyone wants a sports car. The majority of people want a reliable, safe, comfortable car to get from point A to B. Corolla comes in made trims. If you just want a basic car buy the LE. Those looking for a more sportier looking and feeling car, buy the XSE.
I'm a new Corolla SE owner. Just love the mileage. Averaging 36 combined. I was a full size truck guy and Jeep guy for years. I bought this Corolla for my daughter who gets her license next year. When I do I will love to stick with a great mileage car again. No more huge payments either.
It's a great little Car...they've done a reasonable amount of tweaking since our 2010 Year Model. That 1.8 L4 Engine is very smooth, dependable, and quite easy to work on...ya gotta be a total idiot to kill it. They will last!
As always, spectacular review, Drew! This generation of the Corolla has aged remarkably well. I am also astonished by the amount of standard safety equipment it boasts. As this video proved, the Toyota Corolla still seems to hold its own against its competitors in almost all aspects. I am also really liking the updated front fascia on the 2017 (and newer) Corolla models. Adding a more youthful, athletic, and dramatic design approach. All in all, the Corolla is a pretty solid "go-to" option in the compact sedan class. From one car reviewer to another, keep it up. 👍🏽 DriveAndBeDriven will be STAYING GOLD! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Idk how people can call this car ugly. Maybe because it looks much better in person and this car still gets looks for being a newer model. You won't find headlights or a futuristic body on older models as stunning as this one is for the price point. It's worth the safety features and mileage. I personally find hatchback style cars ugly but that's because I'd prefer my car to have a nice "ass" lol which I do like the look of these models and own a '17 myself. Great investment.
My mom just got her 2018 Toyota Corolla standard edition and I love it! Pretty jealous since my car is a 2010 Toyota Corolla and I have to add a new stereo with backup camera
definitely thinking about making this car my first car purchase as well. I’m a late bloomer getting my license so I definitely want something safe and affordable !!! How do you like it ?
I have the SE CVT with premium package. The premium package includes the smart key (push button start), moonroof, upgraded Etunes plus system with Scout GPS and weather floor mats. The SE and XSE have led lights down the side of the bumper which are daytime running lights. As you can see the back is roomy for a compact car. Those last 4 safety features you mentioned are not standard on other auto manufacturers like the Honda Civic. Only on Toyota is it standard on all models/trims
sergio guerrero Go by reliability and good gas mileage. Also take into consideration your body type for comfort. If you're an average sized person a Toyota Camry is the way to go.If price is no object a Lexus ES or GS.
If you want the combination of reliability and great gas, go for the Camry or if you don’t want to spend as much go for the Corolla. If you want a better driving experience with a sportier look and much better interior, go for a Civic. The Civic is also very reliable, but not as reliable as a Corolla or Camry.
Not a fan of the cvt , but Toyota seems to think it’s not efficient . Yea everyone talks about Toyota reliability, but I don’t see Toyota putting out a 100k warranty .
I can’t speak for Drew of course but I’m a car salesman and everyone I know recommends these for a first car. It’s this or Honda Civic or Mazda 3. We don’t recommend the American cars.
Are the cvt reliable? I bought the 2018 corolla in Beirut Lebanon with 1,8 l engine with cvt transmission. My question will the cvt will be reliable to 150,000 km if driven decently?!’
can you take the keys out of a Toyota corolla 2018 when driving? I was blamed for doing this and in my car I can not take keys out unless it is in park.
I drive a 1998 Ruby Pearl LE. It has just over 102,000 miles on it. It's not all banged up, it's shiny and drives like new. I will miss it if I ever buy something else.
What's up Drew!? Great review as usu! Say dude when can you get your hands on '18 Mustang GT with both manual and auto tranny?! Stay gold dude and have a great weekend people!!
For about 2000 more get the SE ....makes no sense to buy drum brakes....there is a big difference when you need to stop fast or need abs or traction control. ..u will be glad u did
Rear drums really do not do much of anything. One plus, is the last a really long time. You change then less often. We brought the next model down Forester without rear discs and I don’t miss them at all. A Corolla is a pretty basic non sporty car. I’d buy the cheapest one. I’d prefer a base model with a manual, they don’t even offer the L anymore and you need to get the SE if you want a manual now. Annoying.
Jesus Faith my new Elantra is getting 29,30 in town, and getting 38 39 on freeway, has more horsepower bigger engine. That car should be getting better milage.
Steve Franklin yea I have made this argument because I can’t stand cvt transmissions to begin with . They supposedly get 6-8% better but not from my experience driving them . You accelerate more aggressive because of the lack of thottle response , cvt have a delay almost like a rubber band effect . Anyways I’m a fan of the Elantra , it’s nicer , quieter , better features and best warranty out the there . Just my opinion , good review.
Kado Lee uh no you're wrong, elantra has 147 Hp more torque, real automatic transmission, not a hideous cvt, and gets BETTER GAS MILAGE TOO BOOT!! But this car does win the most hideous ugly front end award!!
Steve Franklin I have a corolla.myself . The only thing I don't like about it is the cvt. I was going up a hill .and the damn car just won't got pass 80
Kado Lee no worries all personal preference but do you have a 100k warranty on the corolla ? Elantra also has far better interior , options for the value . Elantra also exceeds the epa ratings on fuel . Just my opinion
Elijah Whitehead number one car in the world lol. Anyways the Elantra is a better car for many reasons . value , features , no cvt , better interior , better looks , better performance, best warranty . Bottom line nobody is touching Hyunadi on value for what all you get
Why in the living world are they using cvt engine. They are god awful transmissions and same with new Hondas . Once great reliable cars are being ruined with cvt engins. I don't understand car company may seem cheaper but long run losing sales year after year once word gets around.
Lincoln hawk I’m not a fan of cvt they get better fuel economy supposedly , but I disagree with that because of the lack of timing on acceleration , you actually drive harder to get the car to accelerate compared to a normal transmission. Anyways I bought the Elantra , better car in my opinion .
CVT is the transmission not the engine and as long as it's not a CVT from a 06 Honda or Nissan you should be good. Toyota's always made bulletproof cars and the transmissions are no exception.
Scotty Haines I know that , it was a typo lol . Yes you are correct as far Toyota not having any issues with the cvt. I personally don’t care for cvt transmissions , and I’m not a fan of the corolla . I get the reliability standpoint , but if you are keeping the car no more then a 100k 2018 Elantra is a much better car as far as power , options , and value especially with incentives .
@@doloresm7396 why cause one car that used a brand new type of CVT transmission from Toyota got recalled? You're just cherry picking to support your argument.
@@Katxo1831 It's a truly great car. But I found a good deal on a Jeep I've really been wanting so I'm switching vehicles. Nothing wrong with the Corolla though, I'd say I would probably enjoy it more if I had gotten the trim that has the sport mode though, because driving the Corolla can be pretty boring. It's definitely a really smooth, responsive, and safe ride though
@@joeydawson8495 I have a 2017 XSE and the sport mode actually makes a big difference with accelerations. I don’t think you’ll notice if you’re coming from a sports car, but you’ll notice if you’re used to economy cars.
Supply and demand now. If you want it, you will need to pay more. I have a 2013 Corolla "S" with manual trans and love it. Of course, these were the days when you bought a manual trans and saved about 1K over then 4 speed auto.
D. SHIT You must be a dumbass. This car has been and always will be the #1 car in the world with a whopping of 1.2 millions copies sold. Source: Forbes
