The Unadilla track was made for open class two strokes. I was lucky enough to be there to witness the Hannah-DeCoster battle in 1978 and actually saw Decoster take out the hurricane in the second moto. I was also there at the first 250 USGP when the Americans went against the Russians. Marty Tripes won the whole thing over Honda team mate Jimmy Ellis by 0.8 seconds! Carla clinched his first World Championship at that race which I believe was the finest ever in the history of the sport.
Excellent show brother .you have a great memory for detail on all the dirt beauty's. In britain we just had the vets mxdn.all bike and stars from the past inc j dowd Rj came over magic .get a flight next year you wont be disappointed.
First off congradulations on the museum ,and I was just gonna ask why does Kaplan cycles sound so familiar and I think you just answered it,John Dowd ,I m a big Henry fan and Dowdy to,I was planning on racing pro and I think I got Dowd by 3 years...in not sure....I got to see Doug and John when they invaded englishtown back when they first turn pro what a show they both put on...piece out,I wish I still had that 1981 YZ 465 you would have been welcome to it for the museum...it not far away right in North jersey it didn't go far when I sold it what a beast it had a little power hah ha,like 3 times more than it need it I can go out on a 125 and do a pretty good john Omara....later.
I have a 1977 rm 125 I love this bike a lot of power my friend was riding it and the power band kicked in and popped the front wheel off the ground and he about crapped his pants
Love your channel Mr Kaplan. Ride a street legal 2001 Honda cr250 in southern NJ. Would love to check out the museum someday. Great stuff...keep it up!
