I think the overall aesthetic is a great segue from analog to fully digital. The other dash's in this space (not including digital consoles) use the alarm clock style LED display which doesn't provide drivers with much familiarity on where and what is being displayed. Also, the use of 'reveal and hide' motion here, albeit only exists in one small area of the whole experience, is appropriate and hopefully ends up being a larger part of the whole display. In the end small details like that should provide the driver with a firm grasp on where things are coming and going on the display itself affording a shorter learning curve. Thanks for doing this.
Hi, when i press the down button on my golf I don’t get the option to display map. I only get to see “Home” and the last searched addresses. Do you know why? Are there differences in the discover media?
thanks for the info. but how do you get the map off the dash back to the cockpit? I can not get the menu to pull up on the dash. when I hit the up and down buttons the map zooms iin and out and hitting the ok button it puts it auto zoom. I can not find any info in owner manual.
The easiest way is to go to the Nav screen on the infotainment unit. Once you are looking at the map, there is a row of on-screen buttons at the bottom. One of them says the word "map" and has an arrow on it. You can tap that button to send the map to the digital cockpit and to bring it back to the infotainment screen.
Chris, you cannot see the individual psi readings for each tire. You can reset the TPMS system through the 8" infotainment screen but the real-time readouts of the pressure require a different sensor than what comes in most of the 2018 models in VW's lineup (at least, here in the US). The outgoing 2017 Touareg does have that style of sensor and does show individual pressures, but that is the only one I am aware of. Sorry for the long delay on answering your question.
Thanks for the info, is there a way to get the red pointer on the nav facing the way you are driving , or is there a way of turning the map so it replicates what you see?
You should be able to use the same touch-screen button on the radio unit screen to change the direction that the pointer/map is facing. The change will be reflected in the digital cockpit.
Emmanuel Kumi It is not a standard feature on all models. The new 2018 Tiguan and Atlas come with it standard on the SEL Premium trims for the US market. It cannot be added to the lower trims either. There is a rumor that the 2018 Golf R will also have a similar digital cockpit display, but I cannot confirm that right now. I'm looking forward to finding out what model it comes on next!
