One of my longer videos but we walk through the Composition Media display found in the 2018 VW Tiguan SE. Walkthrough for the audio system, Bluetooth, and various settings and menus.
8th oct 22:22 2023. Thank you sir for an extremely good and thoughtful demonstration, it was as good today as needed the 5 years ago by customers in the uk.
Excellent! Thank You, I just purchased my “new to me” 2018 and your explanation of everything was like the salesman.....but now I have your video as a reference 👍
Fantastic video. Can you please help me as I can’t get the set option to come on when it comes to setting the tyre pressure. Car keeps slamming on the brakes on the motorway because the tyre pressure light is on🤯
There are technically 2 answers to this based on which trim level you have of the Tiguan. For Tiguan S owners, press the Setup button at the bottom right of the infotainment unit (The one not on the screen). The second option down should be screen, then there is the Brightness adjustment. For Tiguan owners of the SE or higher trim with the all-glass 8" display, first push the Menu button at the bottom right of the unit (just under the "Car" button). Next follow these on-screen prompts. Swipe left and touch the "Settings" button -> Display -> Brightness.
My golf has the discover media infotainment system. This video was very helpful, as it functions very similar to the composition media, but there seems to be a lot of features with my navigation system that I might be missing. Are you able to make another video on the discover media infotainment system? Thanks for your help!
Thank you for this tutorial! I just purchased my 2018 Tiguan and was wondering when the rear camera shuts off once in drive? I have to push the x when I start driving but wondering if there is a setting that will automatically shut it off.
Great Video! Recently purchased a 2018 Tiguan Highline Model, and your video is of great help. Couple of quick questions- 1) navigation doesn't work with my apple car play.. how can I make that happen? and 2) is there a way to get a clock or a screensaver or a home page on the screen when music is on and no one is touching the screen?
Sorry for the reply so long after your question! 1) I only know that Apple Maps can work with Apple Car Play. Not Google maps or Waze (for now). If that is not working for you, it is usually a setting somewhere in the phone. 2) This took me some time to find. The only screensaver that I can find is when the whole unit is turned off or in standby mode. For Tiguan S owners, you access this option by pressing the physical Setup button, then on-screen select Screen->check box for "Display time in standby mode". For owners of Tiguan SE or higher, press Menu in the bottom right corner, then swipe left and touch Settings -> Display -> check box for "Display time in standby mode". On these higher trims, you will be able to pick from 4 different time/date displays.
This is a great help. One question I do have is about at 3:47 in the video talking about programming the radio stations (HD) how do you get the station icon to show up in the presets? Mine doesn't seem to pull that information. Is there something special that needs to be done?
Unfortunately, this only seems to work for me on some HD radio stations and only once the HD signal is picked up. If it is not an HD signal, just the station number shows. If the HD signal is received, the box around "HD" in the upper left of the screen will turn white. Otherwise it is gray. Some vehicles will have to have HD Radio enabled in the settings.
You can just download from internet any radio station jpeg picture logo to usb key, plug in your car and in settings for any preset radio station choose rquiref picture from the usb. No HD station required
There is a button directly in front of the steering wheel at the base of the gauge cluster that says "0.0". This is your reset for the trip odometer. Hope that helps!
Do you know if there is a way to change the colour of the car that displays on the infotainment system. I have a black Tiguan and it show up silver on the system. Thanks
Thanks for doing this video, I learned a lot. I actually have a 2021 Tiguan and I hate the manual as it does help much. Do you have any videos for the 2021 Tiguan? I would like to know how to operate the phone (how to pair with my cell phone).
I figured out how to pair the phone. I haven't figured out how to answer a damn incoming phone call yet. Yeah, the manual is remarkably unhelpful about a lot of stuff. Like, when does the oil need to be changed? 10,000 miles is the best answer I've found so far. Seems high, unless it wants synthetic oil.
Just picked up a 2018 Tiguan. How do I disable the horn from blowing every time I lock and unlock the car? I unchecked acoustic confirmation, but it still honks.
In a way, yes. It will tell you that one is low. However, the Tiguan does not tell you which tire is low and it does not tell you the real time pressures in each tire. You reset the monitoring system within the infotainment screen.
Hi there, could you advise me what to do? When i preset all the radio stationstoday and then when i get in the car tomorrow, all the radio stations are gone, like as factory reset. How to prevent this? And also the phone doesn’t reconnect by itself-same thing! With the setting time with GPS and the correct timezone happens the same.
I have 2019 golf highline with this composition media and have bluetooth connection issues. My phone is iphone 8 with latest software. While i am listening music, sometimes suddenly sound cut off for 2-3 second and work again. It is irritating me!
I still have not gotten around to making my navigation-specific video yet. For now, I can refer you to knowyourvw.com/ If you still have a question, comment back and I will try and look it up in more detail.
great video. I have same system in my Polo. HOW do I turn the radio OFF and still be able to hear voice command directions from my iPhone maps navigation? very frustrating that radio must be on in order to hear navigation.
In our cars, there is no way to turn it "off". You can turn the volume down on the radio's audio. If you are getting directions through bluetooth or Apple CarPlay, turn up the volume while the directions are being said. The volume knob will raise or lower the volume of whatever is coming out of the speakers at that moment. Hope that helps!
@@mbradley4vw564 who ever heard of a radio you can not turn off? And to turn volume up during directions is NO solution. How is one supposed to know when directions are spoken to turn up volume if the directions are also muted? VW media is waste of money. Looks like I will after all still need a separate navigation system.
Just got a 2021 Tiguan - I'd like to get the media player to show me all of my albums, then let me see each track once I select an album. So far all I can get it to do is go through a directory folder structure (which is terrible to do while driving) then pick an album, & then it just starts playing the first track from the album & doesnt show me any of the tracks on the album. Does anyone know if this is how it's intended to work? It's very frustrating.
Hi, I just bought a pre-owned Tiguan and the volume is not working on the steering wheel.. and the volume goes to must when using my Bluetooth and listening to Pandora. How would you fix this?
Honestly, I haven't had a chance to look into this very much. I have gotten this question a few times now, so I think it's time I start looking into it!
Thank you for the information, however i think you dwelled too much on the Radio. Please explain how on the App. The Android, Apllecarplay and MirrorLink works, Thank you ill wait for your responce
I have one Vw golf sport van can you tell me please how to activate voice command , because I tried but system tell to go to the dealer and get some keys for activate.. advice .thank you
Not sure on this one...we do not get the vans here in the US. I know some trims of the cars a few years ago had a voice control button, but did not actually have voice control built in.
I am quite disappointed with the music navigation options when using an SD card for music. I can navigate the folders and play songs in a folder ok but I cannot search by artist/song/album etc. I can't even find a way to play all songs on random (unless I put them all in one folder), but you can't skip songs/folders quickly e.g. by first letter so you have to scroll through them all one at a time; this is slow enough with folders never mind songs. Anyone know a way to navigate SD/USB stored music easier? I'm used to far superior music file management from a far cheaper and older mazda and I find this tiguan system very limited; like a basic folder manager. Maybe I'm missing something here and it needs an import of meta data or something. Any help appreciated.
I am starting to see this questions like this come up more frequently now. I have not had a chance to look into the use of digital music files on the system yet, but it seems like I need to get more familiar with it.
Hi just purchased a 18 Tiguan R an love it but it has a terrible safety feature of when the driver door is opened you can not take off. Could you please help me turn this safety feature off thank you
I have not had an R-Line Tiguan just yet but it should be the same as the other models. They are equipped with an electronic parking brake that automatically engages when you open the door and try to move. Of course, they do not want anyone to get accidentally injured. Please use caution when turning the feature off. Also, in my experience, once disabled, it remains disabled until you turn the car off again, so do not expect it to work the next time if you have turned the feature off. Now, start the car, put your foot on the brake pedal, put it in gear, and open the door. You notice the parking brake engage down by the gear shifter. With the door still opened and your foot still on the brake, push the parking brake button down to release it. All done!
The exterior temperature is displayed in the upper right corner of the screen. You can only display the interior temperature on vehicles that have the dual-zone or 3-zone automatic climate control system. In those vehicles, you will find a "menu" button on the middle climate control knob just below the "auto" button.
IPhone is paired with the system. Every time I get near the vehicle, the phone's audio and talk is automatically connected through vehicle's audio. How do I stop that, continue to listen to radio, talk on the phone AND charge the phone through the USB at the same time? Is that possible with this system without unpairing my phone each time I enter the vehicle? Thanks.
You can adjust the balance and fade option within the radio unit. From the main Radio screen, push settings in the bottom right corner, then pick sound from the menu. That should get you there.
I have an android phone. I'm trying to add images to my Tiguan SE. Can you help with that? My phone is connected via usb. I go through and choose the source, but it always says "no image files available". I'm trying to use google photos or just pictures on my phone camera. Thanks!!
@@alyssahymes94 I forgot about those, I'll try it. In our Jeep, we can put a picture on the screen. Like it always shows on the screen. I was trying to do that, but I think that's just not an option in the VW. Thanks for your help!
Actually correction I just tried it in my car and when your phone is connected via USB it shows on your phone toolbar it pops up and says USB options and if you click that it'll give you a bunch of options like (transfer image files, charge phone , charge connected device) if you click the image files one and then going in the images from the car menu and you click at the bottom left it says source and click whichever one applies. I found my photos on my phone easily. But I don't think you can choose a photo as a display. I truly don't understand what the point of this is if you can set it as your display but I hope this helps!
I have loaded a thumb drive with several folders, one for each music performer. However, when I attempt to play it in my 2018 Tiguan, It only play the first folder, the one with a name that begins with the letter 'A' How do I set up my folders to get the system to allow me to hear the remainder of the folders. Currently it will not let me move to any other folder. Don in Rapid City
You can't unless you can somehow bypass the built-in software. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto don't let RU-vid come through. Best you can do is play it on your phone and let the audio play via bluetooth through the car.
Not all Tiguans have navigation or sensors. Built-in Navigation is only available on the 2018 SEL and SEL Premium models. All front-wheel-drive models here in the U.S. come standard with the 3rd row seat and it was an option on AWD models. Apple Car Play/Android Auto compatibility is standard and that is how you can get a navigation function on the S or SE models. All come with a back-up camera as well. I'm not sure which sensors you are looking for. If it is the Front Assist with emergency braking, you can examine the VW emblem in your front grille. If it is glass smooth, then you have Front Assist. If the silver VW is raised from the black background, you do not.
DaSnitch55 that means you have the composition media head unit, and it doesn’t have built in navigation. You can only do Navigation through apple CarPlay or android auto. You have to have the discover media head unit (which has the nav button) in order to have built in navigation.
@@heyitsme939 I was fearing that may have been the case. Jeeze that sucks, 2018 year model that doesnt have a built in GPS. Bit of a rip. Thanks for confirming for me!
@@dasnitch5597 , heyitsme is correct. Built-in nav is standard on the SEL and SEL Premium models. If you have the same screen as I do in my video, you most likely got an SE model.
My tagline screen is haunted I hear tap tap tap and the screen sounds like it’s touching when it’s not then when I touch it it doesn’t respond yes I have done reset any ideas?
