LHG advice: always lube it. It's a bit of a pity that VW does not manage to mass manufacture the Golf with a non squeaking sunroof. Mk7 is not the first Golf to have this problem. I don't know it from other German manufacturers
@@LastHumansGarage True. The trend goes towards bigger and bigger. Apparently people want this, but these people typically don't notice any squeaks or rattles.. Different from car people
Are you certain that your sunroofs squeaks? It may just be the door seals. Put a wet lube like that stuff you bought or Krytox GPL-205 inside the door top flaps. And if that doesn’t completely remove the door squeaks then put a dry Teflon lube (like Sailkote) on the felt atop the door top seals.
Yeah dude I have the same 2018 gti SE its pretty well known about the sunroof squeaks. Mine is plagued with them. I have had no luck with any lubes or silicon spays. I put foam on the corners and it has helped reduce the squeaks on mine.
I have this stuff. It’s not bad. Put it on your door rubber stripping and it will the make the rubber swell right up and supple. Only downside is that it leaves some greasy residue over time but it protects and conditions the rubber!
Oh yes, on my convertible, the squeaks came from the soft/hard top sitting on the frameless windows. And for a convertible, there’s a lot of movement there - this lube or Gummi Pflege did the trick.
hey, I haven't tested it much yet, but good on ya! i like how it is more substantial than the gummi phledge, its just a matter of whether it will collect dirt or not. I think it looks good though.
