I used to have a Ford Flex Limited long ago, and that keypad was one of the best features I used and enjoyed with the car. Leave the key in the car and just press the code and open. I loved it. However now with proximity fobs manufacturers have completely redefined what keyless entry means. The fix for the network update issue, turn on hotspot on your phone. You thinking the radar showing an icon is very important? How about you just look out the windshield? lol!
I haven't fooled with it yet. Guess I'm part of the new lazy crowd who just depends on the FOB. Hmm, I'll try the hotspot thing later on. Not too worried since it's a lease and they are only too happy to help me for free with updates and such. Hey! I bought the car to do the looking for me! Give me a better and bigger ICON!!! :)
You mentioned the charge port might break over time. It won't break. I have 84,000 miles on my 2015 CMAX Energi (uses the same chargeport) and I've charged it hundreds of times because I use public charging and my own private charging multiple times per day as I do rideshare for Lyft/Uber: StressFreeDriver.com … As far as the trunk space of the Fusion Energi - it's the only reason I didn't purchase it. The CMAX Energi is a hatchback so the space the battery takes up is shaped correctly to compensate for the lack of space. My guess is that Ford kept the prices of these vehicles low by not redesigning the batteries to fit under the rear seat. Aside from that issue, the car (my car) has been magnificent.
I think I'm more concerned about the door breaking over time, but I'll take your word for it on longevity. As far as the batteries being in the trunk. It is a shame that they had to do that to this generally very nice car. Obviously it would have taken a MAJOR redesign including moving a lot of parts and probably transmission redesigns to make room for the batteries under the rear seat. I think that is probably the main reason this car failed overall considering how liked the design is to the public.
@@verdier4006 // Yes, take my word for it. 💪... I'm doing the math and assuming opened and closed the charge port only TWICE per day = 4 times working the mechanism (open, charge, unplug, close = 2), and I've owned the car since the end of Nov 2016, I'm calculating I've worked the charge port mechanism I've got 1,170. I mentioned that I do rideshare so there are lots and lots of times I've plugged into and out of free public chargers and at home as well. That 1,170 times could easily be underestimated by 20% to 30% taking me to a number approaching 1,400 to 1,500.
Would you play for keeps once the price goes down to 8k? Back in 2015 I was looking at chargers with the HEMI and another car I really liked, the Chrysler 200 v6 AWD. They were 35k cars but now they're down to 8k if I buy from an individual. I would definitely buy a charger although the 200 would be more fuel efficient but the AWD system and cv axles would probably be costly on a higher mileage car especially if it was a rust belt car.
If you're asking if I would buy the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi at the end of the lease for 8k then the answer is a definite maybe. I have definitely grown very fond of the car, but like a lot of lease people out there, one of the main reasons leases are fun is that you get a new car every 3 years with all the new features and such. I might just go for a new car with the newest gadgets since the tech is part of the main reasons I love these cars.
you can charge it anytime. It takes about 7.5 hrs to charge it completely on 110v. It will charge in 2.5 hrs at 220v so depending on how much you drive it and charge it you can probably charge it several times a day if you have a quick enough charge plug.
Hmmm. Like most batteries it does degrade with time and charging, but since it's relatively small as far as batteries goes, I doubt you'll really notice much of a difference for at least the first 5 or so years.
Hard to quantify that. When it's very cold outside the car will usually engage the engine very shortly after ignition unless you're in EV mode in which case it will wait for a minute or two then turn on. I figure mainly it does this to get the engine at a good operating temperature and of course to heat the cabin properly.
Yes. Did I mis-quote this? I probably was complaining about the fact that the Ford Fusion Energi doesn't make this icon or display either bold enough or at least let out a user configurable beep to let you know if the car has contact or has lost radar contact with a car ahead. Personally I think this information is vital for safety of the driver and the fact the display for this information is way to far to the side and not as prominent is a poor design decision on Ford's part here. I know they have made this information more prominent in other models of their cars. Just my humble opinion.
@@verdier4006 yeah I love adaptive cruise control detects motorcycles an even bicycles but sometimes it doesn't catch them immediately, so definitely can't rely on it instead of you as a person braking 😅 but I love the looks of this car, pretty badass 👍🏻😎
