If you're looking for a practical coupe that won't break the bank, you have pretty much one option in America for 2020: the Honda Civic. For 2019 Honda gave their compact 2-door a mild styling refresh but left the bones of the Civic alone. That's not too much of a problem for Civic since it was already one of the best values around. What about a Civic Si? That's for tomorrow...

Most owners of two door coupes hardly ever put people (kids or adults) in the back seat. 99% of the time when I see a two door car there are only one or two people inside. As soon as you have a family and kids that need car seats, a four door vehicle of any size and shape becomes much more practical, even necessary. Since the Civic sedan handles and drives much the same as the coupe only the folks who desire the "sporty" look of a coupe will go that route. Nice to know there is an affordable coupe available. The Civic Si with 6-speed manual would be my choice if I wanted a two door car.

I remember how Elantra Coupe was literally just Elantra Sedan with front doors stretched and rear doors removed. I thought that kind of defeated the purpose. Civic Coupe is smaller than Civic Sedan, which is one of the goals, I think.

4:55 Oil dillution . Well before gdi , di , etc , I always think that turbo was not a good idea for winter because unreachable adequate temperature setting for short trip is common . The combo here ( meanwhile in canada...) for reliability is the base engine & manual tranny even if it drinks more fuel .

My son and I both have 2020 Civics. His is a Hatchback, but I fell in love with the lines of the Coupé. As a vehicle, it hasn't had a single issue. Not one. From day one I have averaged 36mpg combined. 0-60 still comes in at 7.2 sec. which is normal for the 1.5t. After 65,000 miles it is just a fabulous car. When this car will be done at 100k, we'll be looking at a standard Hybrid ONLY. But we'd prefer AWD. Civic Hybrid, or Corolla Hybrid, or the Prius are looking good, but we have 2 years to go. If you're looking for a used one, l highly recommend it.

I actually really like the wild color. It's interesting and distinctive. I really dislike the stupidly tiny trunk opening. They should have give it a rear hatch instead. It's a nice car and seems good value for the money when you consider the Corolla costs more and is much more of an appliance, though it doesn't have a direct comparison to this 2-door. I'd definitely go with the 2.0L just to avoid any possible long-term problems with the 1.5L turbo. It should be more dependable and longer lasting in the long run.

what...first off, the civic coupe starts just under $22 K versus $27 K for an 86, not sure where you get 10 grand. And come on, you are getting a dedicated RWD sports car platform, not a 2 door variant of a compact FWD commuter car... if you don't care about driving dynamics, yep the Civic is the better choice is more commuter friendly equipment like dynamic cruise control. Grats on your first car! Be happy with your choice but don't be silly about "value"...the 86 has sold hundred of thousands more than what Honda was able to with their S2000..

Hey Alex, has Honda finally figured our how to program their cruise control? My sister used to have a 2015 Civic and the CC was really awful. When going up a hill, the car would slow down about 5 mph, then it would speed up and abruptly stop at the set speed. It wasn't a smooth transition. It was really jerky. My Juke Nismo has a smooth CC and you don't feel it on the highway. I'm just wondering why Honda can't make their CC as smooth as Nissan's.

Sad that for that price tag there's no power seats so you can't lift the seats up. The Civic is nice but the 'main main' caveat is that if you're quite tall & during long ride the right knee & leg touches the hard side console, my left knee touched the hard plastic of the door handle & makes it super painful. Believe me you get sore & that's why I went for the Accord instead. Even in the Accord in the basic EX & EX-L range you feel the pain but that can be mitigated if you pull the seats all the way to the back as long as your feet can reach the pedals safely. The Civic is nimble & zippy though. If you're stuck with the Civic & feel uncomfortable when you drive with the legs spread, feel the pain just glue a soft sponge by the console. Too many hard plastics around.

@@ALMX5DP Maybe I should have worded that better.. by "perfectly driveable" I meant it's driveable without getting into an accident - unless you drive like an idiot. A front wheel drive car is always easier to drive in adverse weather but that doesn't mean you can't drive a rear wheel drive car in winter. Especially a modern one with good tires. That's all I meant. Your Focus vs Truck comparison doesn't say much, because you don't mention any details (age of vehicles and tires, features, etc.). Plus, a truck is a special case, because you have very little weight on the rear axle (unless you haul stuff in the bed) and that's what makes it a little more tricky. That being said, a modern truck with good winter tires, electronic stability and traction control and some weight in the bed is not THAT hard to drive in winter.

@@kgspvgsp7569 I've been driving in snowy conditions for many years, thank you very much. That includes in a rear wheel drive BMW Seven-series in the Swiss Alps during winter. And that was in the 90s and early 2000s, without electronic safety features or modern technology tires. I've also been to Canada in a rear wheel drive Impala in December. And guess what... I'm still alive (I think). Am I an exceptional driver? Not really. Was it pleasant? Not always. But modern vehicles with stability and traction control + good winter tires drive much better - and that was the point.

Did Honda PAY YOU TO "EXPLAIN AWAY" the GAS BLOW-BY AS ACCEPTABLE ?! -- reasoning that Honda's "1.5 TURBO" DESIGN-DEFECT IS THE OWNER'S FAULT?? (-even with Honda's MASSIVE # of global RECALLS?) Then you CONJECTURE yourself: recommending "get 2.0 engine INSTEAD if you don't want GAS-OIL CONTAMINATION".

Sick of Honda design n sell strategy. They always made the cars look so bad for the first yr model which fail to draw ppl interest n sell. Y they stupidly start so low. Make it looks nice then awesome not bad then fine.

175hp, 6.8 seconds 0-60 and quarter mile at 15.2. In other words, why does this coupe even exist? It's an irony for it's class.

Power seats are never an advantage. It's like an electric soft top vs mx5 soft top. Mx5 wins everytime.

The 2019 Toyota Camry XSE, which is outfitted with the V6 engine, produced 301HP from a naturally aspirated 3.5L v6 (not some bullshit 1.5 turbo) was able to go from 0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds and reach 136 miles per hour when tested. Vs Honda 6.6 seconds. Calm down man, I know Honda paid you and kissed your ass, but don't bullshit us with false figures.
