I just bought MDX 2020. I will keep forever my old MDX 2009 with over 210.000 miles now. The best SH-AWD in the world. So much fan and very safe vehicles!
My wife and I narrowed down to an MDX and a QX60 Limited. A few things that deterred us from the MDX were the dash controls, which seemed a lot less user friendly to us than the QX60 were. We also liked the rear seating access in the QX60 better than we did the MDX. The QX60 was certainly more sluggish on takeoff but not enough to make a huge difference plus there's a little better performance when put into sport mode versus ECO or STD. The MDX is a good vehicle but we're very happy with our decision to buy a QX60 Limited.
The MDX has SH-AWD which is most critical feature of Acura but the reviewers didn’t mention it. With this feature driving at the curve at 80MPH, feeling amazing... 👍👍
I have an Infiniti QX60 and love how it drives. I have driven, BMW, Toyota Alphards, Acura MDX, Chrysler 2022 Pacifica and Mercedes 4matic suv all 3 row cars and I love the space it offers. Our 6 person family fits comfortably in tne Qx60 plus it drives Beautiful. Sound system in the Sensory package plus sunroof and moon roof is stunning. It's a 2019 model and cannot imagine how amazing the 2022/2023 model will feel like. DRIVE IN SPORT OR STANDARD. YOU GUYS LEFT IT IN ECO MODE! IS VERY SLUGGISH. YOU DIDNT GIVE IT TRUE justice.
Own a QX60 just like the one here, and first and foremost, you left it in ECO drive mode the whole time. It does handle and feel a lot better if you switch to sport.
Exactly at 7:14-7:20 just after the 0-60 test, the driver is switching from ECO to a different mode without talking about it. Should have tested it in Sport mode and it would have been pretty close to MDX.
I just hate how car reviewers judge SUV’S they put too much emphasis on stuff that aren’t important to the people buying this kind of cars. I care more about comfort and practically than the zero to 60 numbers or the “ is it fun to drive” bs that’s 100% an individual opinion fun to drive for a SUV Is not about turning corners at high speeds it’s about not getting stuck in the snow etc.
I beg to differ. Yes some don’t care about fun to drive and handling but that also means some does care. I just bought a MDX because it fun to drive and no cvt and also can carry my family of 6 around. If I have to choose I’d choose both fun to drive and can carry 7 people and it’s very comfy too.
Ruben Moody false. i own the new m340i and qx60. when i floor the m340i in eco, the car will NOT respond even to a fraction of the extent that it will in comfort let alone sport mode. eco mode cuts back on acceleration, which is why it saved you gas
My mom has a 2014 Infiniti QX60 Luxe and it is awesome. It’s very reliable, luxurious and safe. Customer service is amazing. It is also pretty quick. The engine has a nice sound to it and when you slap the pedal it bounces.
Don’t get the hate for the push button gear selector. It’s way easier than a shifter and you can feel the difference of every button without looking. It’s definitely much easier to shift a leaver into the wrong spot then push the wrong button when each button feels completely different. It also frees up space. That is the future just like the push button start. I can’t fathom how you can think it’s complicated. Let go back to putting a key in to turn the car on as well if buttons are too complex for us.
I completely agree. Thet just need to get used to the buttons. I have these buttons in my 2017 Honda Pilot and my 15 Acura TLX, after getting used to the buttons I would never go back to a shifter, the buttons give the car a more premium feel and in my opinion is a step forward in technology.
Own both, I like QX60 ride better, Acura with the better features. Honda overall just does a better job, but if I had to choose one, QX60 is reliable and comfy, MDX is also Reliable, but just the seating is no fun for MY AGE, yet the first row still isn't as good as QX60. QX60 is just dated though, but I don't find much of a problem with the car being dated. It does everything intended to do, but the MDX being the same price is a reason why it is rough in competition. It narrows down to: QX60 Drive quality, and MDX tech (yet MDX drive quality isn't bad). I would slightly rather drive a QX60, but for people who don't dig as much driving, they would like the MDX. Both good, but it's almost 2012 vs 2019 here.
To some the MDX May look similar to a mini van but it certainly doesn’t perform like one with SH-AWD it feels a class below its self. I see why you can say it looks similar to mini van that’s just because in its class it’s get the best third row seating leg room. But since they nearly sold or already sold more then a million of them they are certainly doing something right over the Germans and American competitors
jared novak, wait until your jeans rub all over it. Acura leather is real shit. I had a 2009 Acura MDX and the leather got blue after like a coupe months.
Can confirm Acura leather is bad, you look at used Acura’s they always have wrinkle marks all over the place. Infiniti uses a lot of painted plastics too like on the steering wheel that rub off too though, at least in their older cars
I love Snarf's, so I have you a like and subscribed w/ notifications too... Plus I just test drove the 2013 QX60 and liked it... Last week, it's on my wish list now
I've owned both Acura and Infiniti: hands down, not even close, the Acura's are much better vehicles. The Infiniti is "lipstick on a pig". On my 2007 Infiniti M45, it started to break down with engine problems around 70k miles. I took it into my mechanic and he said "NEVER EVER buy another Nissan product...they start having a lot of engine problems around 70K due to super cheap parts". We drive a lot across country and for work, so we really work our vehicles. My 2004 Honda Pilot EXL went 250K miles before giving it to a family member and still ran like new; my 2012 Acura MDX-Advance went over 300k before selling it; currently own a 2014 MDX with 160k; 2017 MDX-Advance with over 90k and a 2019 MDX Advance. All 3 of our current MDX's have ZERO problems. Also, the SH-AWD is amazing. Also, the MDX's have 5=Star safety rating. I was in a wreck where another driver T-Boned my on the freeway at 70 MPH, and my MDX saved my life. The MDS's are incredible vehicles.
Sorry infinity but if I’m spending 65k and can’t even get standard apple CarPlay; no way would they get my money. At that point I would have to go with the Acura. Plus you can see how much the cvt hinders a vehicle and it didn’t even make a huge difference in mpg to make the cvt worth it.
2020 model will have carplay, and on the year 2021 QX60 will redesign and cvt will gone, instead will be 9-speed transmission, so Infiniti fans, just wait for one more year!
To me Infiniti doesn't do enough to differentiate themselves from their Nissan counterparts. Acura has struggled wit this too but I feel they've done a better Job.
My wife and I just bought the MDX and we absolutely love the push button transmission! I don't know why you guys dig on it so much. There is so much more space as compared to the huge gear lever. Love the MDX. You guys are so right that the QX60 is outdated beyond belief.
Sorry guys but your focus was wrong here - this is not a sports car - it is supposed to be a car that has a ton of utility while being luxurious. While the Acura handles better and is faster, the Infiniti was much more luxurious inside and had a usable 3rd row (not too mention that with the 3rd row up the Acura had pretty much no trunk space)
Less horsepower and MDX smoked the Infiniti. That CVT is an automatic fail. You guys didn't even try Android Auto/Car Play. It makes having 2 screens total sense and apsolutely transforms the infotainment system. You have Google Voice Search which will do everything you need. Nathan, for the love of God, hitting three different buttons is not brain surgery stop complaining.
Acura all the way. Not a fan of the French Japanese car company Nissan since they merged with Renault and almost all there cars are terrible with reliability besides the 370z and Nissan GTR.
According to my experience, MDX gives you better handling and drive quality whereas QX gives excellent ride quality and much usable 3rd row. QX60 drives just a little better than a pathfinder if you ever drove one. It’s not agile.
Acura seems to look better after +10 years with its conservative styling compared to other luxury vehicles made the same model years. Add in the Acura/Honda reliability and you have a vehicle you can drive +150,000 miles with mostly routine maintenance.
I just wonder if they had the Acura in comfort mode. I own a 2016 and have been told by passengers that it has the nicest ride of any SUV they have ridden in. Also had a guy with a QX60 offer me an even trade for mine in a grocery store lot. I let him drive it around the lot and he came back smiling and said he just found his next car.
I drove both. I bought the Infiniti PERIOD. Excellent comfortable seats and smooth ride and just plush feeling. You want to quick response? you put it on sports mode. You want it to get down on the snow,? you put it on snow mode. Then you have standard mode and economy mode. Each has distinct feel to it.
The infinite makes a great Hertz president pick for a day rental but the MDX kills it on a 36 month lease. And daily livability. I hate CVT transmissions and rather put up with the push button trans.
Had to stop the video at 5:05 before proceeding further and say that the blue OBS 4x4 F250 is the best part of this video. Whose truck is that? Need to use it in a series!
Honestly like most of most (majority smart investing) people, the Toyota highlander is a best smart investment. And we can feel the EXCITEMENT of people to run after this vehicle. So many Highlanders down the streets....
This looks like a review geared towards a Sport oriented SUV rather than what a SUV is used for (Utility: Hauling things around, family trips (Hello 3rd row seating), overall usable space. The 3rd row seats and overall space inside the ACURA MDX are just ridiculously small, funny looking and looks dangerous; thank God the guy was able to get out alive! Getting in and out of the ACURA MDX 3rd row sit 20-30 minutes on a good day, they should add this challenge to the American Ninja Warrior show.
One screen for nav and the other is for media it says it all right there in front of you. And the mdx have way more features then the stupid infinity which you have to pay extra $$ just to have what’s on the mdx.
i personally lease most of my cars, espcically when there are good deals, why would you want to keep a car forever anyways? do you keep your phone forever? and most times you end up paying less when lease.
Hey, I have a 2016 RDX (not MDX) but it's virtually like a baby MDX. I love my Acura. Love the 3.5 liter V-6. Love the 6-speed tranny in the RDX. Regular gear shift lever. None of this push button crap. Definitely no CVTs for me!
Infiniti just needs a new infotainment system tbh. The cars are very attractive and the brand does have decent sales numbers this year. They won’t do any better till they update their lineup. Come on nissan!!..
Kept the Drive selector on Eco on the QX60, didn’t talk about safety features like all-around view camera.... This review is definitely lacking and there are 10 times as more QX60’s on the road where I live. Doing 0-60 in a grocery hauler is cool but isn’t really practical.
I owned a Nissan Pathfinder... The front wheel bias and the CVT makes it not worth anything... I turned the lease in early because of it's poor driving feel.
I got the same issue now with infiniti . I got the q50s and after 2 months im just depressed about the car going to cancel the lease. Before i had an acura2012 after 6 years no problems and amazing engine feel sorry that i sold that one .
My pathfinder never got better than 22MPG on the highway. I sniffed 25MPG once on a long downhill highway run. It averaged 20MPG in mixed driving. I would expect more MPG for the penalty of the CVT...
I can't believe I stayed for the whole show but I watched it and I liked it I like the Acura that's my choice but I would still not buy it maybe I wouldn't even lease it because I want to truck.
The Acura MDX have a well known transmission problem. 2016-2018 the 9 speed transmission, so do the Honda Pilot trims which use the same transmission. I read it was fix on the 2019 model but not going to take that chance. Google it and you’ll find out.
Infiniti is a way better and more practical choice with a big sky roof and rear 3rd row access and rear dvds with heated seats and hdmi conections for everyone to be entertained for the ride .Cvt is not a deal breaker in the sport mode drive and acceleration is above average for every day. Infiniti all the way
I agree that luxury car (such as Infiniti that wants to market itself ass one) should have all basic features included. lane assist, blind spot, welcome lighting, good leather, etc. Optional, maybe, a different leather trim, maybe a different wood trim, maybe an alcanara roof liner, something very expensive, not something that is expected to be there without options.
I think the Infiniti is a better vehicle for what these family haulers are designed for, the difference in acceleration is negligible and the exterior styling is sportier in the QX60
I enjoy my QX60 but I never been in a MDX! bought are nice but inside the MDX is not as nice as the QX60 but it has more tech but in keeping my QX60. Why was the QX60 a FWD when most are AWD?? Plus if I want speed I just pull my Genesis out of the garage lol.
I believe non of them are really Japanese right? Also isn't QX60 has variable compression 3.5? I much prefer Honda 3.5. Even though not been a fan of that ZF 9 speed automatic I think still its better than the CVT.
Wanna see a middle aged lady with a few kids do this review & see which one is rated “buy it, lease it, rent it”. Have a feeling it’d be a completely different perspective with more of a premium on the comfort & luxury feel than the sporty feel that a couple of young dudes prefer. After all, a 3rd row mid sized SUV is more of a “mom market” I’d imagine.
Also having different compressions in one engine based on how you are driving is just accelerated wear and tear on the engine not sure if it’s in this model infinity but others do have it and I have heard horror story’s about them needing head gasket around 30k miles and other major issues
