Two doors Vs four doors in this very German battle. Street focused or Track animal, what works best is hard to tell. #M2Competition #RS3 #BMW Buy recommended gear: www.amazon.com/shop/motorpres...
Yeah true...personally I would get the M2 comp because I get good discounts at my local bmw dealership and I reckon as a manual rwd small fast coupe it is pretty much the more exhilerating of the two, but if you have heavy snowfall or have to deal with bad weather for a larger part of the year the rs3 seems to be the more reasonable choice.
Arthur Morgan no doubt about it on track the m2 would obviously win and you would more than likely run into a bit of understeer on the new rs even though it’s no where near as bad as the previous ones, however where I live (north east UK) it rains a lot and is cold a lot, so on our tight, twisty and bumpy country roads there isn’t a lot that could keep up with the likes of rs3’s and a45’s etc, m cars included as they just cannot get their power down
@@lewis2827 I thought that but a recent test showed the rs3 was quicker than the m2 around a track but then again, virtually noone will take either car around a track
RS3 for daily. M2 for fun, so if I only have to have one car it would be the RS3 mainly because of winter driving. RS3 gives me confidence driving all year round
Ram why buy a car that I can’t really drive all year round. Don’t get me wrong I like the M2 but not practical for my driving specially if I have a small family. I’ve seen these M2s on the lot for as much as $85grand. I paid $72grand on my RS3 otd back in 2017. And I think its bang for the buck between the two. That 5 pot alone is so worth it. Just my Opinion
Grexx I agree with you, RS3 is best all rounder but M2 is so much fun! Tbh I wouldn’t get the competition I’d just get the original m2 for the better sound, remap, lower it and get winter tyres for winter! But saying that love the 5 pot engine and the Audi sunroof and massive exhausts 😂 maybe get the Mrs to get the RS3 🤷🏽♂️
Marvey Singh funny that you mentioned it. It’s actually my wifes car. Time to time I get to drive it. So much power but already wanting to go stage 1 :)
What an incredible review. I liked the format and specially that neither one of you were passionate about one car or the other.. both were objective... kudos from Mexico City
4 wheel drive for stop light glory. 2 wheel drive for track glory. As an older guy, I'm not into stoplight antics but taking my M2 up into the mountains for spirited driving is my pleasure now.
I'd go RS# for a few reasons, even loving the M2. The RS3 can, and will be, much less of a headache in winters or on bad roads. The RS3 has an incredible dash able to do hundreds of things, on the fly. The RS3 will age well, the M2 looks great I agree, however down the line it will go the route of the other mid 2000's overly rounded and angular. The Audi is all flat classy lines, like a 3 piece suit. The M2 is a bro-tank. The RS3 has a rally bred 5 cylinder that is a marvel of engineering, including a bulletproof torture ready gearbox. Otherwise, yes the M2 is more "FUN", but life isnt all fun, sometimes you actually need a car with more than one hat trick. Ill take the weather chomping monster known as the RS3.
Unno man, Audi’s rarely age well. Literally the only Audi I think still looks good is the first r8 Bmws on the other hand have tons of timeless looking cars people still love today like the e46 m3.
Yea i really love this channel. Canadians really are busting out the best car content right now, Being a decadent american I am very pleased with canada’s offerings on the car journalist front!
Juz gimme rs3. Best daily driven. Such a beast sound and spacious. what else do u want? U not gonna spend 24/7 on track tho. Btw, i love the front of m2 but not the back. I prefer rs3 back.
@@rskundert good luck putting that power to the ground with only two wheels. Already struggles a bit with the stock power. The Rs3 will put 500WHP into the ground everywhere, all the time.
Good video and review and agree with all your points on both vehicles. Now here in the states they are the same price so that being said, which would you choose if that was the case when you made this video?
I was looking for a Canadian channel with Canadian pricing and metric calc! Finally stumbled upon this channel, great video guys. Although I drive Mercedes C43, I love M2 and RS3
Both are amazing cars but working in motorsport as I do I'd go for the Audi, the most effective. 0-100 4.1sec, Quattro, you can corner fast trusting the car, not tensed and with an back that looks better to me
Both amazing rides! Love the RWD of the M2 to break it loose on tracks and the "fun" factor.....the RS3 5 cylinder and Quattro is insane with that Launch and 0-60! That sound too! I've always loved and owned BMW and Audi over the years....my current ride is a 2016 Audio S3 Premium Plus. By far the most capable car I have every owned, especially with the modding capabilities.....Stage 1 is a flash and intake and boom, instant respectable gains. Anyway, great review! My S3 is calling me now.......GREAT REVIEW!
Apples and oranges comparison but M2 for mine with its dynamic ability. If only the RS3 had more presence style wise, the surfaces are simply too flat and lacks aggression to compliment the soundtrack.
The only reason I would pick the rs3 over the m2 is the awd and ability to accommodate passengers. I went from a 2015 STI to a 2016 F80 M3 with a 6 speed manual and the only thing I miss about my STI is having awd, being able to have instant and claw gripping traction on wet roads, snowy roads and gravel is orgasmic especially when you floor it, you never lose traction. Going to RWD I gotta be very cautious and feather the pedal on those types of road conditions and when I'm driving so gingerly in those conditions I always see STIs flying past me having a hell of a time. That's the only thing I miss about my sti and having an awd performance car.
I love both of these cars. I just think the rs3 is more practical as a daily . Plus awd would be better for the winter. But seems the M2 are more affordable on the used market than the RS3s.
Regular late model M2's are more affordable then a Rs3 due to it being non competition, older and less hp than a Rs3 but the BMW M2 competition that's an altogether new car with more hp than an Rs3, just released a year ago is more expensive than an Audi Rs3 new or used.
I love the booster seat in the back seat of the M2, now I know I’m not crazy for wanting to get a coupe with a 5 year old son. I’m getting the M2 next my boy’s gonna love it.
@@sashaghovanlou8175 Not true the e63s isnt a much of an older car. But ok fine take the gt 4 door63s its newer then the M5 competition but is still a little bit slower then the M5 competition on a drag race and when the M5 competition was on the same tyres as the 4 door it set a 0.2 secs faster lap on the nurburgring.
I’m torn between the two. Bmw has the fun manual and RWD. I have a daily beater so I wouldn’t need the practicality of 4 doors and awd for winter. But the sound of the rs3 is amazing and it would be the only car I have (get rid of beater). Hard to decide between the two. But I would also need to be not broke to decide.
Too much of a handful on bumpy, wet UK roads, just like the M4. Great if you have your own race track and an endless supply of tyres. Not keen on the ball bag at the back, the oversize steering wheel and dated interior - a manual handbrake? Really. But hey, I've driven a couple and they're fantastic cars, but I'd take the current RS3 or TT RS every day of the week over an M2C or I'd spend a few quid more an get a 718 Cayman GTS, which is what I drive. Now THAT's a drivers car! Good review guys.
In europe you can get a loaded M2 Comp for 61.0000€ and the RS3 starts at that price. So here the RS3 is at least 10k more than the M2 Comp. That said, I would pick the M2 Comp all day every day over the RS3.
I think it's hard to do a comparison because these are 2 different types of cars. It all comes down to what type of car you want to drive. If you want to compare the M2 competition to something, it would be to a M4 or Mustang maybe. 2 doors, RWD, 400~ish horsepower.
Looking to buy a m2 comp pack. Is it suitable if i wana take it out everyday on the streets of Bangalore. Also wanted to know if the m2 has good ground clearance for it use it here. Your reply will b helpful to me!
a tough one. I really love the sound of the RS3, but I think the proportions on that car are goofy. I also am not a fan of transverse engines. The M2 is a real driver's car, which I usually prefer, but I just feel it's too impractical without being enough of a sports car.
My thoughts, Audi AWD and dual clutch, BMW 2 door and manual. Both have their benefits. I chose the Audi as I prefer the service I get on my previous Audis. I sold my RS5 for the RS3.
The new RS3 haldex is actually heavily reworked and cant be compared to the normal haldex. Yes, its still Haldex but it can send alot more power to the rear, enough that you dont notice any real slip under WOT even in the wet. The reverese staggered setup is mostly to force more oversteer when you track/push it. That in combination with the lighter, reworked 2.5 TFSI unit makes it feel _ALOT_ less understeered compared to previous generations. Its actually pretty well balanced.
I mean m2 better of course 405 horse power haves the same engine as the m3 and m4 it’s a coupe definitely a daily driver but the Audi rs3 is for a family but I’ll definitely cop the m2 competition.
I mean can you go wrong with either? I’m going to trade in my 330i and upgrade to an m2 once I graduate, but I certainly wouldn’t complain about an RS3! I’d have either in a manual, but that’s really personal preference.
Full disclosure... I am an RS3 owner, but having driven both cars, I would say they are not really comparable. If I was shopping right now, the M2 wouldn't even be on my radar. A performance coupe that small really only serves one purpose... to go fast. And it does, aggressively, and it's a lot of fun. But the RS3 blows it away as a daily driver... and it's pretty fun too. Oh, and if I threw and extra $10K of tuning into the Audi... this would be a different conversation... Just saying. Great job guys!
jon uriarte I mean, you can get an RS3 for less than $60,000...there's literally not another car in that price range that comes even close to the RS3's performance.
S55 is quite reliable as long as you change your oil and filtrers on time. Don't miss maintance and it is highly unlikely to give you trouble. Issues with rs3 usually are connected to tuning a lot of tuned rs3 blow engine in a very spectacular way. You either need a very good tuner who knows this car shit very well or don't tune it at all.
Man, I love the M2, but the RS3's exhaust sounds so much better. The M2's just sounds too coarse. Overall, RS3 for me since I'm more interested in a daily driver than a track car
