Pin weight with a 3/4 ton could be a challenge. The dry pin weight is all they have on the website and if you use 20% of GVW it is a lot in the back of 3/4 with fuel, passengers, and cargo for a SRW. I can make it work for a 1 ton SRW, but you need to do the math and verify.

I have a 2017 Grand Design 303RLS that I was completely happy with...until I saw this. Wow! But a shower curtain? It would have to be replaced by a full enclosure. They cheeped out on that.

Nice. Not over done. Like the bathroom, they could have crammed a lot more crap in, but instead let the open space happen. I notice it's got the plain hitch - this seems like an entry level luxury trailer, if not just a higher end normal trailer. I'm not in the market, but sometimes you guys give ballpark figures on price. And I do own a house, which could be sold to finance my tiny house wanderings. I'm full of crap on that, but you know I thought of it because I'm here watching your vid.

A really good presentation, I watched the whole 25 minutes. I put in a residential fridge and I think that is the future. $500 compared to $3000.The difference could pay for a nice solar set up with batteries that would last you for 20 years. You would also get rid of the chimney in the back of the fridge and those ugly vents on the outside. When these units get older you have to worry about gas leaks and fire. They also need to have the burners cleaned every year they used to recommend. Which means sliding the unit out to get to the burner tubing. I know you commented about the wall insulation but I would test it with an infra red thermometer you can get at the hardware store. If the interior wall cover is glued to the aluminum wall studs you will get a direct radiation / convection into the RV. I think these units should be covered in the interior with up to 1 inch of foam board to break the convection of the cold and heat from the outside. Does it have double pane windows? They should to stop the condensation problem. In cold climates a lot of heat is lost through ceiling leakage at the vents, skylights and through the air conditioning ducts. Those old Suburban furnaces are loud and obnoxious..

Grand Design has really nice Fifth Wheels. If I could get a good trade price for our AF we would have one. Not only does GD have a great looking FW they are also well built.

I know this has a solar plug under front cap for a suitcase solar panel. It it an option to install solar panels on roof and in inverter. I don't want enough solar to run AC/microwave, but I would like enough to be able to power an outlet or two and run a CPAP overnight when you cannot run a generator.

I would like to understand why the decor is always so dark on these RVs? Always dark wood cabinets , and no soft closures on the cabinet doors , they sound cheap and thin when slammed shut as you did on the doors to the place you would put a washing machine.

I hate that huge kitchen sink, much rather have 2 bowl for rinsing off the soapy dishes and that tiny sink in the bathroom was ridiculous. The rest of the RV was nice.

Just bought a brand new Grand Design. Took on a month long shake down road trip. It is going back to the dealership for all the flaws you didn't see like weak slide floors, furniture coming unscrewed. Trim coming loose I could go on. Cosmetically I am disappointed at all the staples I can see everywhere. They look beautiful at first glance but I question how well they are made. Will find out shortly how well Grand Design honors their warranty!

We had a kitchen slide mechanism buckle and it was a few months out of warranty. The dealer showed GD that is was a manufacturing flaw/screwup and GD covered it. It would have been a few $1000. Thank you Lord!

cjhan47, thanks for your question. They do offer a king bed as an option. When you option the king bed in however you do give up the walk lane on the one side as the king isn’t centred in the middle to allow for the wardrobe slide to move in and out on the other. I hope this answers your question.

Nice video, but you dont give any weights etc.Empty or gross rating, that means so much, weve looked at the solitudes at Toronto RV show, 1 ton towable 41 foot long, would of been interested as most other people on weights.

Hermes, great question! There are several differences but also a lot of similarities between the Solitude and S-Class. I won’t cover them all but I will give you some highlights, starting with the similarities. The Solitude and S-Class share the same profile which means they are both High Profile wide body design. They also use the same drop frame chassis, running gear, side wall thickness, R-value in the roof and walls, theatre and sofa seating, plus so much more. The differences are mainly the interior trim level. Also, size of refrigerator, oven and range, hydraulic jacks and slides vs electric, lamilux 4000 vs 1000 gel-coat, exterior graphic look, size of hot water heater, etc... The really nice thing is that although the S-Class is less expensive, you still get the golden thread of build and quality consistency through all the products GDRV builds. I am trying to figure that out too. Here is my list, the fridge in S is Dometic, I assume cheaper doesn't look as "nice" 12 CF instead of 18CF, utility center in basement not fully closed off from rest of basement, LR TV is not telescoping with a window behind it, 1 farmhouse sink instead of split, the stove is different, not sure if the oven is sparker or you need to light, electric slide instead of hydraulic but that means you easily can do one slide at a time, bedroom is the biggest difference the S Class has the wardrobe slide instead of bed slide (normally the Solitudes have a king bed on a slide, with a dresser and ottoman that pulls out end of bed and a huge closet with washer/dryer prep), the S Class washer dryer prep is the kitchen as shown. He didn't lift up the bed but because it isn't a slide it is large and deep storage, saw it in another dealers video. I wish I could find a video where they show what the blind is like over the bed and trying to tell if the angle is enough to be able to sit up against backboard to read/watch TV. I also want to compare the tires to what is on regular Solitude, I think both are 16 but want to check brand

Lorie Johnson dual gas/electric are much more expensive. On residential fridge if you are not plugged in or running on a generator you cannot run a residential fridge. On most units in a S-class you can get King bed. S-class have a couple of down grades but overall they are almost the same. One big difference is S-Class does not have frameless windows, but you can get dual pain glass. We just ordered a 3740BH.

It is within the capacities of my 2015 gmc 2500 diesel, so i guess that would make it 3/4 ton. But it is neat the top end of those. Gross Weight 15000 lbs truck rated at 17,100

Curtis Smith Tow ratings are not everything. Is your GMC DRW? If not I would almost guarantee you’re over on payload. The pin weight on this 5er is a killer to most 3/4 pickups. If this is a 15k trailer you need at least 1ton preferably DRW to be safe.

The graphic on the bedroom slideout looks faded. Im sure its intentional, but it looks bad. Also, no awning over slideouts?

Did you notice that inside the space for a washing machine you get some of that quality he talks about with scuffed up shelves. The stool in the bathroom is so close to the cabinet wall that you may get half of your butt on the seat.

If you look closely I think you'll seen the scrape is really a sliver of sun coming from the outside entry door shining thru the crack of the open cabinet door. I though it was scrapped at first glance to, but you'll see the suns angle on some other furniture later in the video as well. Could have turned the toilet out a little though Just from looks in vid. Would have to sit on it to know for sure.

Rollertube light? S if you're unable to fully extend the awning or choose tp keep the awning close due to wind, you have no light. Makes little sense, but good effort trying to church it up.

It is a better idea. I rarely can't extend my awning and having the light where is needed is a much better idea than the easy by the coach.

Nice camper but the bathroom is disappointed in first no glass doors easy for water to get on the floor second the sink to small and third the bowl is to small for a big man I'm sure I can change something's but it's a nice camper well built

mike novel, thanks for your comments. The 2930RL depicted in the video was first generation. They’ve now made some enhancements. Glass sliding door is standard in the bathroom now. Not sure if they’re making changes to the sink for 2020 or not. Easy to make bigger if necessary. Lots of people like the extra counter space the smaller sink provides. However some people like the idea of a bigger sink which can be changed. Thanks for watching and commenting.😀

Are you sure the length is 33' 11"... their website's specs have it at 34' 4" from hitch to rear.

Tina Gosnold, great question!! You are correct in saying that the hitch to rear wall length is 34’4”. When we shot the video the early spec info being provided to us by GD wasn’t finalized and the length ended up being slightly longer. We always strive to provide the most accurate info that is provided to us by the manufacturer when we shoot the videos. In this case and to offer the best floor plan possible, GD had to extend the trailer 5 inches from the original floor plan drawing. We have been trying to find a luxury fifth wheel that will fit into our shop. We have called it our hunt for a unicorn, because, luxury doesn't come in small packages! Plus, we have learned that tip to toe measurements are quite different than hitch to rear measurements. We got really excited about the Solitude 310GK, 34' 11"... until we measured it at the dealers and it was actually over 36'. Broke our hearts! We really like this one but until we know the actual length measurements, we aren't getting our hopes up.

@@WoodysRVWorldOfficial We would like to find a luxury fifth wheel around 33 ft, but doubt it will ever exist. Glacier Peak was a close option, but too many compromises. So, we were thinking that 35 ft to 35 ft 6 in. Anything larger than that wouldn't fit in the shop.

passat vw, thanks for your question. In most cases a 3/4 ton diesel truck can pull this trailer no problem and was designed specifically to be pulled by. Depending on the year, some of the older trucks may not, but we recommend checking with the vehicle manufacturer to confirm based on what truck you have and specs it is built with.
