I wonder how many more months it's gonna take Blizzard to realize they screwed up badly with cyclone change. Terran already was a race that limped economically and was also horrible in the endgame (as no player has 500+ stable APM with 1000+ in peaks to actually utilize theoretical potential). This means terran had to win by either rush or midgame push (hence all the proxy strats from Maru). Changing cyclone effectively killed both of these options for terrans, as cyclone was crucial for early attacks, map control and early defence. Now terran has pretty much nothing worthy left to rush with. And building up for midgame push got slowed down due to all the turtling terran now has to do, resulting in midgame pushes being doomed from the start. Seriously, terran can't even comfortably defend the expo now. For ex., only early terran unit to counter a single stalker is widow mine, and it in turn gets hardcountered by a single adept. A stalker & an adept come to terran's expo = terran can't do anything at expo until terran gets a siege tank or some other answer of similar timing. Which results in terran's being even further behind in economy. Offering terrans quicker stim and funny upgrade for ghosts quite predictably changed nothing - 'cause it couldn't change anything - 'cause it's simply irrelevant to the cause. Terrans need something decent in the early game. And terrans need less-APM-intensive endgame (easier defence against run-byes/drops, having at least some units not requiring baby-sitting & ability clicking). And what Blizzard did... they can speed up stim by another 20 sec and make EMP hit twice the current area - and terrans will still suck, as how good is stim w/o economy behind it and how good is ghost with crippling APM deficit? It's not zerg being uber-OP, it's terran being effectively excluded from the game.
Facts and its ruining the game for people who don't know sc2 that well and play terran. If high level players can barley hold expansions imagine trying to climb as Terran. Like the skill level to play terran vs other races is ridiculous at low skill levels. If i expand im fucked if i do it late im fucked. This game is ridiculously hard for Terran. I only watch terran games to see what they do. But basically if you watch terran vs other races. Terran never overwhelms they out play which is proof terran is weak.
Old cyclones were only good in TvT and slightly in TvP when proxied, I can't remember any recent games where terran was making cyclones vs zerg pre-change.
@@aaabatteries9948 In TvP cyclone was also staple for early defence and early non-proxy pushes (high DPS + decent HP & mobility + repairability = senior threat with good micro potential and longevity). In TvZ it was the base of mech's mobile power fist and situational early defence (for ex., vs roach counter-attack after proxy 2-racks to cancel the expo). So if there is decline in cyclone's use in TvZ (pre-change) I'd say it's due to decline of mech popularity in TvZ.

I understand why zerg is seen as pretty strong with Broodlord-infestor and nydus. But how can u argue that zerg is op after these games? Dark wasn't even using Broodlord-Infestor. He used nydus not as exponentially as Rogue did. Instead he won with a strong Roach-Timing, hydra-Ling-Bane and a pretty significant mind-game in the last game. Against TY he even used Lurkers. But it seems like all that matters to people is who won and not how. Dark was really playing brilliantly
Can definitely still argue that Zerg is a bit op at the moment, but dark would still win even if Zerg wasn’t. He’s looking amazing at the moment, I’m happy that he didn’t go into brood infestor. Just proves too everyone that he’s here because of his skill not because of the current balance
People who think this way don't understand how pro sc2 works. The threat of broodlord/infestor is always there. Maru would have played four completely different games if broodlord/infestor late game was winnable for terran. Imbalanced builds/compositions affect all games, whether they actually appear in them or not. If the terrans know they can't play a certain late game, or can't deal with a certain composition - they must adjust their openings and mid games, which makes every other build from their opponent stronger. It's always about broodlord/infestor, all the time, every single game, even if it never actually happens in a series. That's pro starcraft for you.
@@alk672 I see your point but thats always been how Starcraft played out. Every possible threat is influencing your game. Starcraft isn't a game where the one with better mechanics or micro/macro always win. It's a strategy game. Playing to your strength and your opponents weaknes. Mind games. Considering Weaknesses/strength of the races etc. That is the main part of Starcraft. Maru won his first GSL with only proxy. In his third GSL he rarely used it anymore as people adapted to it. Dark was winning with very agressive and cheesy play in Season 2 when Protoss Sentry/Immortal Push killed every other player. That was before the warp prism nerf. Spoiler: Parting beat Solar with very precise pushes. Hero beat Dream with strong harrass etc. I'm still thinking that Dark played a brilliant series, playing against what Maru probably practiced with Rogue. I still acknowledge the strength of Zerg Late game but pro Players adapt. Thats what makes SC2 so great. How the meta changes and players evolve. That being said there will be the balance changes end of the year so we'll se how SC2 changes Edit: Remember when no Zerg could beat mass carrier and the common solution was don't let them get Mass Carrier.

Some people were complaining "protoss is OP" during the entirety of the GSL second season. Now people are complaining "zerg is OP". Is there any significant patch released between second and third season to change it? Or these people are clueless?
It's so fucking sad, if you play as terran and don't have a perfect, direct counter to one of the 3928443 strats the zerg can use, you are fucking finished. Horrible to see a player like Maru get stomped because he plays the wrong race...
Indeed Captain obvious, but they need detection first to kill banshee, and need move quickly to their base. Vikings job are here to chase overlord, so banshee can cover marine drop easier by surprise. Terran drop is more aggressive than a slow nydus. When i see maru letting his solo viking intentionally dies for scouting, its a waste of potential. If detection, hydra and queens counter the backdoor, just step back, they cant fly and chase terran air fleet so terran wont loose his army. Redeploy elsewhere, or later. Terran pro player dont innovate enough in dropping/backdoor which is a waste of potential with the most versatile panel of air units (banshee, vikings, bcs, liberator) with ground control.
@@neothypp Marine drops are favourable because of the low cost and rapid deployment. Sending squad of viking and banshee along with marine drop is not really a drop. It is a commitment . If the drop fail , you almost have nothing to defend yourself with. Banshee and viking arent cheap in early game. They are not as versatile as marine.
@@RG-hx8uc The case for terran is flexibility. Sometimes marines are enough for dropping, but sometimes you need air support for killing drones and key building, then step back. Attack key target then step back. Hydras queen cant chase you (corruptor and muta are another story) Firstly Scan so you cant be trapped. Build offensive sensor tower to see zerg movement and lure him at the opposite side, with few marines bunker to cover the turret. Have always 2 frontlines so zerg has to split his army. Build offensive wall -barracks who can lift and repositionning - bunker. So they can absorb bunch of banelings in the main frontline. Vikings and Banshee can help air support if conditions are right, or support main frontline, or just patrol on the map till conditions are good to be offensive again. Vikings can be trade against few overseer at midgame so banshee and weaver mines are more dangerous for zerg. Dont loose banshee and accumulate them step by step. The goal is to less rely on micro marines, but to macro and trade zerg unit for terran building.
A terran barrack has 1000 hp, costs 3 marines 150 mineral, so it can absorb 13 banelings. Thats a lot. Building shape the battlefield on terran advantage and cover tank so hard. Since zerg has to allocate more ressources on main frontline to kill your advanced post, your drop marine + air support has more impact. And always step back if things go wrong.
Game 3, tanks WAY far forward. Hold the high ground and bate with bio. Perhaps move one or two with bio but the rest have to offer a fallback position. Dammit, why I am not winning GSL!?
If we all have the obeserver map view, it is much easier since we know exactly what is going on. Like opponent supply , tech and enemy placement. It is easier to spot the fault when we are the bystander since our brain isnt doing anything , unlike the players who are managing everything at real time with reflex only. It is like those moments where u just realized you could have done better after things had passed.
Sure, I know that! I’m not getting on my high horse or dismissing their brilliance. Overextending with tanks seems to be common amongst terran. Special does it also. Heromarine is one of the cautious few that minds his tanks. Maru thrice positioned his tanks too far forward and Dark capitalised on it. Maru is also known for being a bit careless at times (e.g. not walling off properly...).
@@brunojl2 It is not easy to judge when to move with tanks due to fog of war. We have to move the tank to deal damage to rereated enemy regardless. It is not safe to camp infront of enemy bases since those zergs are hatching while we camp. The main power of tanks is cornering the opponents and bombard them to death. Thus moving the tank forward is like a must. The question is " when". I think just misjudgement of enemy forces. Not much to say there. We can see everything from replay thus we know that moment is overextending or not. Dont worry dude. Just pure discussion. Glad to know your view. One of the problem with the tank in current meta is that tank becomes dispoable unit. If the attack fail , all the tanks are expected to be dead regardless. Since most late game meta are lethal to tanks placements.
Dude, this games mechamisms have become "ahhhhhh look how I've slightly changed my gameplay since the last update!" Its become so fucken boring to watch. It used to be that Maru's quick dropping everywhere was the shit cuz he did it so well, and Rogue swarming his opponent with his crazy fucken macro was sick AF Cuz no one had ever played like that, and Classic abusing how good protoss was in the early and late game was the fucken shit man. Now, everytime I see these games I'm sarcastically thinking "wow, so he did the drop thing again huh? Nice..." or (sarcastically thinking again when rogue or dark is playing) "sick, hes macro-ing again to smash, nice..." or when classic is playing "sick, so you're telling me hes archon dropping or macro-ing huh? Siiiiick bro" this shit has become become so vanilla you can hear it In the castor's voice man. I get how difficult it is to perform at these levels, but this game has been out since 2008(?) And the only thing we get are "patch updates" and "oh well, now its free to play! What more do you want?!?!" I used to love this game because people always came up with ingenious ways to play it. It's all just a copy and paste now, with everyone (including myself)(besides the Chinese players((Has)) copying Maru and innovation, rogue and dark, and classic and whomever the other mother fucks plays protoss well (Zest? Harstem? ((Jk bout harstem))). I guess what I'm trying to say is that this game is broken/fixed/bullshit/frustrating cuz I have been seeing the same gameplay.
