You only need a tuner if you change both the exhaust and the air cleaner. I have an Iron 883 with Python 2.5 slash cut mufflers and the stock air filter, I've installed Nightrider X14iED fuel enrichment leads just to make sure the motor isn't running too lean. The X14iED leads are a plug and play that you plug into your 02 sensors circuit, they fool the ECU into thinking that the motor is running lean and the ECU pumps in more fuel to compensate. These leads are a lot cheaper option than a Power Commander, V & H Fuelpak or Screamin' Eagle Pro Street Tuner.
