As the kind of guy that has no interest in poking around with his bike in the garage, I approve of the Honda perfection. I buy my bikes to ride, not to spend every other day tearing it apart and mucking about with it.

Nailed it. I bought a CBR and the fact it will, in typical Honda fashion, work when you want it to, and work very well, is just what you want. I've had bikes in the past with character which just means lots of wasted hours fixing them. We wouldn't put up with washing machines like that, so why bikes?

If anyone is watching this video in 2024, I have a stock 19' CB650R with 17k miles on in it. I have maintained it well but I haven't been precious about it. This bike has been absolutely flawless. 4 oil changes, 2 chains, 3 sets of tires and 2 air filters with no issues whatsoever. Near daily ridden for the past 2.5 years in AZ, if you are considering a CB this is a fun and reliable machine. Gonna have the timing checked and adjusted, but sticking to the maintenance schedule Honda set keeps this bike as reliable as my car.

Hey thanks for sharing. I just started looking at these after almost buying a CBR600. Can't go wrong with Honda!
@SMGMP7A1
@SMGMP7A1 4 месяца назад
The CBR 600r is on my shortlist for next bikes. I've never ridden or owned a sports bike. So I'm wondering if there's an appreciable difference? I mean I know there is, but is it something that I would enjoy coming from a standard style seating position? And while this is plenty fast and flickable I find myself drooling over a more aggressive bike. My CB650R is probably going to influence all my choices and bikes no matter how much I want to experience everything because it's just been so damn good.

That’s awesome. I’m really interested in this bike. I’ve been waiting years to be able to get new (Covid put a big halt on that), and this makes me want it even more.
@SMGMP7A1
@SMGMP7A1 2 месяца назад
@@jacobbaumgardner3406 They only real concern I have with this bike is that it is apparently not common. I was recently talking to a sale manager where I bought my bike about the 2024 update on the CB. He told me without knowing I was the person he was talking about. That he hadn't seen a CB650 in 2 year and that the guy who bought their last was "a lucky bastard" and the timing was perfect. Apparently he was eyeing that specific bike for himself. With that said parts that are specific to the CB650R are 100% going to need to be ordered. I order parts at least 2 weeks before I need them for that reason.

While I can understand the enjoyment some might get out of occasionally or constantly wrenching on or modifying their bikes, I personally prefer to spend my time riding. Other than some tires, a couple of cosmetic/comfort modifications and one or two performance additions, I’d be content to just get on the thing and ride while never having to worry about it starting or leaving me stranded.

Miguel Duhamel replica with #17 on the seat cowl. Will not get rid of it for anything. That bike is ME. Absolutely love it. Hard to believe that the bike is almost 20 yrs old. I had a CBR 600f4i for my first bike. it was in rough shape, but, it gladly kept up on some twistys, had plenty of power for my beginner self, and it was comfortable as all hell. I was able to take up on a 4 hour road trip with just a backpack only having to stop for gas. I tried so hard to find another bike like that, preferably >2010, but ended up with a zx6r that gave me a track addiction.

83 CB650SC Nighthawk owner here. I find this bike cures everything Spite said. You do have to wrench on it occasionally due to age, but the great Honda engineering makes sure it kept to a minimum. Just bushings, fork seals, pretty much anything made of rubber due to age. Do the repairs right and you'll never have to do them again. The engine is AMAZING, buttery smooth all the way to redline and it feels like a turbo kicks in at 6000 rpm. Cruising on the highway is great. Dual disc front brakes make sure the twisties are fun. Amazing bike all around.

My favorite bike was my first one. A cb750 nighthawk (1991) which I picked up for $1450, (around 2003) in great shape. I only didn't buy another one recently because no ABS. I actually did get an FJR1300 with ABS this summer, and it's also good. once rolling, feels much like that nighthawk did under me. I'm just not a fast-bike rider, I guess. I don't need the 141 hp of this FJR, and I do love the bike. It's great for taking my wife, daughter and son on rides, which they love. But I'm not sure I'll ever LOOOOVVVVEEE a bike like I did the simple rightness of that 1991 Nighthawk. This bike sounds like it comes close.

The flat spot is definitely noticable. My thought is that most of the time around town you're under that rpm range, and then when you're opening it up to redline merging onto a highway the power kicks back in. I rarely ever am riding in that rev range and I'm guessing that's why Honda tuned it like that

Downside of being in Australia is that the CB650R is only available in a detuned LAMS version with 52hp, with no option for the full fledged version. For this reason alone, the Suzuki gsx-s750 is more appealing since we can get the full fledged version of that bike.

@Jack Price I know right?! It shouldn't just be Suzuki and Kawasaki offering non LAMS versions of the same bike. Heck, I'm sure most people would be willing to pay 1-2k to de-LAMS their bikes down the track. Much cheaper than buying a new bike for a power increase and then having to deal with selling the old bike.

what happened to your 919, Spite? (I’ve owned a 919 for a few years. dig the bike. a couple complaints: exhaust under the seat makes my back smell like I had a romantic affair with a lawn mower, and the bike feels top heavy to me which keeps me on my toes when maneuvering around the garage even after all these years of owning it.)

Make sure you're riding with the balls of your feet on the pegs; and wear proper gear such as boots, pants, jacket, gloves, and helmet. Dress for the slide not the ride.

I fully intended buying the CBR600R but i'm now leaning toward the CB650R naked bike.I'm getting too old for sports bike and sore wrists and bad back. I'm guessing the CB650R is a nightmare in the wet tho having no protection from raid and spray in youf face...

Would love to see Honda raise the displacement to 750cc, this bike price and HP wise competes closer to bigger middleweight bikes. And is to expensive compared to other 650’s. Bump in displacement would give it enough power to help justify the price. Plus’s a Honda 750 is an iconic thing 😃
@mitchellsteindler

I guess...but the quality is on another level compared to its displacemt competition. So it's already worth it.

Awesome! But at the beginning of the video did you not post on the screen that the HP rating was 94? but then show a power rating graph show a max 80.55hp....am I mistaken or did you guys give some mixed specs? Love your content by the way! I wish I still lived in the states and in Texas just for your giveaways! I see you did again at 7 plus minute mark lol
@desmondharvard6055
@desmondharvard6055 4 года назад
It has 94 HP from the crank but the actually power to the rear wheel (WHP) is shown on the Dyno. So stock has 94 crank HP but only gets 80.55 of that to the wheel
@desmondharvard6055
@desmondharvard6055 4 года назад
Keep on mind, usually only 90% of the crank HP and torque makes it to the wheel so you'll always lose about 10% to the drive train
