Thanks Rich - your instructional video is an excellent resource for those considering ‘tip-over protection for the 6th generation Goldwing.

I too have been looking for tip over protection for the new wings. Hopefully Max is getting closer to finalizing traxxion dynamics version of tip over protection. Although I certainly appreciate u sharing the install process, I am not overly comfortable with the product itself. I was thinking of these bars and ur video helped me in my decision.

Appreciate you watching. Not the greatest bars but i have been surprised how well the work. If you come across some better one please share. Ride safe my friend

The drop guards will save you a lot of money in the long run. If you haven't dropped you bike it's just a matter of time. Great video sir.

Love this Man…..just returned to riding after 12 years and bought my dream bike…a Goldwing…’21 DCT Tour..watched the video in full and will be looking for this product…my first impression of the first 300 miles is…all the skills needed for this bike are at 10 mph and under….and as I am practicing have had more than one Oh 😳🐑 moment 😝….I think at low speed this kind of protection is worthy. Be interesting to see if they offer anything substantial for the rear too. Thanks for the leads and may you have a great Safe riding season

Awesome dude. Thanks for watching. Another Return To Riding Rider. Congratulations on a awesome freaking motorcycle. I hope you have as much fun as I am. These bars are inexpensive and so far for me effective. Like you I do want something for the back to make me more comfortable to protect the bags. We have to do slow speed maneuvers. It’s the fundamentals of riding. Ride safe and keep in touch.

Glad you kept practicing after your first drop. Without GREAT tip over protection there will always be a little fear in your mind which effects the confidence. No way to get over it until you have 100% confidence in the protection.

Definitely. I have gotten pretty comfortable with the techniques now and don’t even think about dropping it anymore. It can still happen but I now open up the clutch and ride out of the exercise.

@@richthereturnrider6737 I built custom crash bars for mine and feel the only real test is if you lay a carpet or padding on the ground then let the bike fall or even push it over a few times without slowing it down. Many times if it starts to fall and you try to hold it back its enough for the OEM protection to work. Problem is in the real world sometimes it throws you off and away from it.
@richthereturnrider6737
@richthereturnrider6737 Год назад
@@ostbob4108 absolutely. Mine have fallen over in the garage and it didn’t go over but I don’t deliberately test it. Still concern about that sub frame.

Great tutorial, Rich; thanks for making the time to demonstrate. In the reviews I've seen, many echo your concerns about the lack of correct parts and tricky assembly. Question about the upper fronts: since you're attaching to the plastic subframe, any concern about damage during a slow speed drop? Thanks again.
@richthereturnrider6737
@richthereturnrider6737 2 года назад
The rear and middle mount from what I observe seem to be the major pressure point for the the drop bars. That’s why I put an emphasis on only snugging the bracket around the sub frame. I believe making that to tight might be a good reason for concerns.

Just came across your videos and they’re great. I’m hooked for hours now. Lol One question do the bars drag the ground before your foot pegs touch when in a hard lean angle? Thanks
@richthereturnrider6737
@richthereturnrider6737 2 года назад
Thanks for watching. That’s funny you asked. I just did the Ozella trail in Fl. On the way back I dragged the bars in the early turns. I’ll put that video out in two days. The answer is yes but you get plenty of clearances.

Great video,, but question: in a corner, do the bars scrape the road since it looks like they sit lower and could scrape.....? If one is not a heavy leaner into a corner they should not scrape then?? thoughts?
@richthereturnrider6737
@richthereturnrider6737 День назад
I’m currently in Tennessee riding the mountains. Rode the tail of the dragon Foothills parkway and never scraped once. I have scraped in roundabouts when inappropriately braking and leaning. Lean angle is minimally restricted.

My recommendation to you is to uninstall those bars. First of all they don't give instructions to eliminate liability, you have to REQUEST by E-mail. Second connecting to the sub frame is a no no, especially in a hard crash, or a car hitting it even at slow speed. You yourself said don't tighten to the sub frame so it can bounce a little.
@richthereturnrider6737
@richthereturnrider6737 2 года назад
Honda offers no protection. I can only show what I did to protect my bike. I appreciate your recommendation but my concern of crashing into a car at any speed is why I need to be able to practice and protect the bike in doing so. I believe by not tightening the brackets to the subframe it doesn’t take excessive pressure. That point is exactly where the Goldstike tie down brackets are mounted. There is a video showing those brackets breaking that sub frame.
@ckholiness
@ckholiness 11 месяцев назад
Would you say you snug the right hand side bolts or what’s not over tightened on bolts to sub-frame? Do you periodically go back and snug them?
@richthereturnrider6737
@richthereturnrider6737 11 месяцев назад
I have never had to readjust them. Most of the pressure is on the other mounting points so the subframe ones are not to tight. I believe they would move on that subframe if the bike drop is severe enough.

Should I get another bolt before install ( right side)? If so what length and thread?

Do they interfere with tie down brackets, and goldstrike highway pegs ?

I had to remove the tie down brackets you wouldn’t need them anymore. I use the guards for tie down points. Don’t know about the highway pegs. I used a different type.
