The 2018+ Honda Odyssey has, since 2017 for the 2018 MY, exhibited on some units, RES/Blu-ray issues where the disc plays, but no video shows on the RES LCD screen. At times, audio can be heard, but video does not display. Eventually the video returns to the screen, but it's unpredictable.
Configuration variables:
1) WiFi ON/OFF
2) Hotspot ON/OFF
3) Bluetooth ON/OFF
4) BD disc
5) Phone connected/disconnected to Android Auto/CarPlay USB port
6) Car ON/OFF
7) Accessory Mode (Car OFF) ON

UPDATE: Sold this van for a 2021 Sienna. Got tired of Honda Canada ignoring my request for a fix and the system locking up. The Sienna has a superior CarPlay and Android Auto implementation. Never reboots or locks up.

I had the same problem and just disconnected the positive side on the battery 🔋and it reset everything and started working fine.

My experience with these new odysseys is the RES Control unit fails. Although most I've seen will start playing the movie then after 20min screen goes black but audio continues. So possible control unit failure. Your at mother Honda's mercy if they will fix it.

Honda lost a customer.... going back to the reliable Toyota’s. even consumer reports degraded the odyssey this month due to these issues on the entertainment system along with door issues. BTW Honda is saying there is a software update that will address this issue. It’s a shame, the features are great but the execution is shitty.

Mac Eliot consumer reports website has put out an article that says they contacted Honda about both the issues. One is being sorted out with a software update and the other will be a service bulletin. Let me know how it goes. Good luck

I basically realized that one should not get blinded by the bells and whistles. If you want reliability then stick to a Lexus or a Toyota.

1024x600 resolution is TERRIBLE in today’s technology. Honda SERIOUSLY went cheap...

Just an update, still no resolution from Ideal Honda and haven’t even received as much as a phone call from them. Now trying Team Honda in Milton. Let’s hope this yields something.

Did you ever find a fix for this? We just bought a 2018 odyssey touring and got this issue about a week after we the purchase. I can’t figure it out.

Yeah, I stopped using the DVD player. Honda could give two shi+s about fixing this. I have received a total of 0 calls from Honda regarding a fix. I will be trading the Odd-yssey in for a 2021 Sienna AWD. F Honda.
