I don’t know why most channels make car videos of the top model, which not the choice of most buyers.. in Honda’s case most selling vehicles are EX & EXL not the Elite
Currently at a hotel waiting for the Georgia v Kentucky game. Have a black 2019 Touring Elite as a demonstrator. Drove 6 + hours from upstate SC on the interstate most of the time going up and downhill through the mountains. Best MPG was 24.6 which I thought was a bit lackluster. It is fairly heavy and has a 6 cylinder, but I thought the 9 speed would help. Previously drove a 2018 6 speed EX-L Pilot to Tennessee and the transmission in the mountains was eh. The visual difference and updates to the 2019 make a big difference in my opinion. Wnd the 9 speeds push button transmission isn't bad at all, but if you checking your parking by opening the door the car automatically throws itself in park.
Glad they kept the push button transmission. It is so much easier to reach and use. No more just reaching over while keeping your eyes up. Let's make people look down to see what button to press.
While I do like the fact that this generation Pilot has a more modern design to it than previous generations, it does look pretty subduded especially compared to other entries in this class. (such as the Highlander, CX-9, etc) Bland minivan-like styling aside, these host of new updates for the Pilot should keep it competitive in this growing segment, until hopefully even better improvements will be lead for the next redesign (which I also hope will have handsome if not subduded styling). Cheers. :)
I have driven it couple times. I think it is ugly outside but a nice place to be inside. Definitely the best vehicle in its category. Funny, like Honda designers made sure it wouldn't look better than Acura MDX.
This is my dream car, but I couldn't afford anything but the Civic 2019 EXI brand new, but the civic is peppy and good on gas, way better than my Dad's 2009 corolla.
Great review. Any chance of stating what will be the same or different on the 2019 Passport? I believe you were at the LA show. Honda isn't giving much. Honda may get surprised that Mazda is jumping ahead with the new CX5.
Sooo, the "S" really means SPORT MODE? I always thought it was specifically used for steep hill climbing and towing? And the "S" mode doesnt seem like it has 9 gears? Almost seems like it's got only 2-3 gears only. 🤷♂️
I always want to give Honda credit for making a smart cross-over, but between this video and the slip test video, Honda has done nothing but developed a high ground clearance mini-van. This would be the perfect vehicle for a mother taking the soccer team to practice, but I don't think the AWD system is up to snuff to handle the foul weather that can plague the typical, Suburban driving, hockey mom in New England.
I doubt many crossovers will do much better than the Pilot on the slip test. Remember AWD ain't really built for the stuff a 4x4 is.I think it done almost the same as the Subaru.Maybe a hair better.Although I think the Forester looks nice. So I guess I'm saying if this wont do it you probably should stick to truck based SUV's with real 4x4..Which is something you can get with something like a Suburban,4Runner,Land Cruiser,Tahoe and such.
Gary Blatt snow and icy conditions the Honda Pilot handles perfectly. You’ve really got to push it before you get any slip in both acceleration and steering. I believe in snow/ icy conditions the Pilot handles more seamlessly than a truck based suv would.
Zachary Martin the gages looks horrible not gonna she well at all it just look horrible rather have myself a more reliable highlander that 9 speed is not reliable just like all Honda auto trannys
Anderson Rodriguez Same, they are really finicky to use in my book. A traditional shifter is more simple to operate and will immediately get the job done in a good way. Though I am sure that Lincoln started this whole trend of push-button gearboxes in the first place.
I'mJustFarhan is really bad nd is just more complicated to fix nd I feel bad for u if u tryna get away nd u nervous 😂😂😂 u probably end up going on reverse
@@live_the_moment_with_arnol5661 Okay sure, but comparing the Pilot to an RX350 is like comparing apples to oranges. While the RX is better if you want to compare, they can't be compared in my book.
@@ericdolby1622 So apparently, the Supra, LFA, MR2, Celica, GT86, 2000GT, etc are ugly to your eyes, while even vehicles like the new LC, Camry, LS, Avalon, Corolla Hatch, RAV4, ES, etc are too apparently... ...seems like coming from someone who finds the overstyled all-around new Accord looks in the slightest bit good to your eyes, I'll take whatever you consider to be "ugly" with a pinch of salt.
This car is a POS. 36K miles on my pilot and the transmission is going. Parts on "national backorder", been waiting 2 months, no loaner provided. Never again a Honda!
Because many people will buy the Pilot LX with the old transmission instead of the Odyssey LX with the new 9 speed transmission. Dollar for dollar the Odyssey generally has the better features and more cargo space but many people refuse to buy the minivan, so they pay more and get less with the crossover.
It does not have the same transmissions as Nissan. It has a great 6 speed automatic with a shifter on the lower trims and a push button nine speed on the higher trims. Nissan has only CVT transmissions. If you like the Pilot, get the 6 speed transmission. It is great. Cheers!
@@ericdolby1622 Yeah, definitely. My high-quality track modified Toyota GT86 and high-quality VIP modified Lexus IS350 F-Sport is trash and beat down. I'll stay beat down and laugh at you poor fucks in a Honda Accord.
