2019 Jimmy Awards winner Ethan Kelso, from Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards in Logan, UT, performs "Wondering" from "The Bridges of Madison County."
A little twinge, A little shock, A little whisper at the bottom of your memory. A sudden wind, A gentle knock, And then a rustle in the leaves. You hold your breath, You check the lock, You reassure yourself that nothing’s at the window. But you’re wondering. You’re wondering. You’re wondering what that was. Nothing’s gonna happen. But wouldn’t it be fine to share The weather in her eyes, her hair, Her footsteps as she climbs the stair, The shadow in her light? But everything you know is true And everything you want to do And everything that makes you you Collides against the night. And nothing’s black and white. And you’re wondering. You’re wondering. You’re wondering what to do. You’re wondering. You’re wondering. You’re wondering if it’s true. Nothing’s gonna happen. Nothing has to happen.
I already imagine this comment section in the future filled with people predict which broadway show he will join and people reply "This comment ages well"
why does he sing with his lower jaw? that’s so unattractive. there are better ways of accessing your upper range. I dont want to see you lowering your larynx trying to ascend into your upper register.
I can agree that singing with tension in the jaw doesn't lead to most optimized and 'academically' perfect upper register, I feel like the way he shapes his vowels with his mouth/jaw emotionally adds to the song and makes it far and beyond better if he sang absolutely to the books 'perfect'.
