Nice review, previous Teryx 4 owner. My only complaints after 3 years was that the in-cab noise gets obnoxious and a lack of power is disappointing when compared to other 4 seat side by sides. I certainly pushed it to it's limits and it never once failed me. Extremely well built machine.
Finally!!! I gotta weigh in here.... Jumped from Polaris to a 2018 Teryx in April.... not a single regret! Luke, you hit the nail on the head in this video as far as how suited this unit is for a family. It’s extremely nimble in the trails and rides great.... As far as power, I’m totally satisfied with what it’s got.... I know it’s not turboed to 170hp, but for its intended purpose it’s got plenty.... Overall, a highly recommended unit that will deliver day in and day out! Can’t wait for the ride review! Keep up the good work!!!
Also, if ya quickly remove the drivers seat cushion there’s access to the engine for adding and checking oil so routine work is a breeze on the engine oil and diffs.... really easy to work on.... If your engine blew and ya needed to get in for that or spark plugs, then yeah you gotta remove the cover.... Everything else is easily accessible!
So u got one and had a razor before I went today looked at both Polaris and Kawasaki tyrex like the tyrex price but was worried my buddy’s with there razors would run off and leave I really don’t ride rough like they do right now I have a Polaris 570 and I go almost every where they do but wanting to get into one side by side riding just wanting to make sure I get the most for my money. I like this unit can u tell me why u like this vs what you had .My buddy’s they always having issues out there razors from first few months of owning one one buddy is on his 3 motor of his 17 model I will say they do ride there’s hard every time I go with them it bout kills me having to ride where they ride I like to take care my stuff I don’t have there kind of money
Brad Bargo There’s no worry that you won’t keep up to your buddies. After putting several hundred miles on my 2018 Teryx I can confidently say the machine is a solid unit. I’ve had many rides with the machine loaded with 4 large adults and the Teryx can handle anything. It’s very reliable. That’s what I enjoy the most is the fact you can count on it! The ride is good, even with 4 people and the overall fit and finish is top notch.... While I see other buddies having issues and complaining about broken parts, squeaks and rattles, the Teryx just seems to not have any of those quality issues.... I know it’s not the fastest machine out there but for everyday trails/mud riding, it works great. Lock the front diff and you can confidently crawl through anything to. Hope that helps ya!
@@whiterhinooutdoors4572 it will keep up with a rzr if your buddies go slow. If they want to run fast your suspension will not keep up with a rzr,can am,talon ect ect. Dont let him lie to you and tell you that they wont run off and leave you. Goes good for the most part up until your climbing boulders. It's slow and the suspension is ok if you go really slow if not your gonna get bounced around. My 18 teryx 4 basically has been regulated to farm use or just a machine for people to use I dont want riding with me. I used to let my wife use it to drive the kids around while she followed me in a rzr turbo. But I have since bought her a 4 seat rzr just so she can go faster and keep up. Teryx rides rough at speeds a rzr just soaks up. Really the only reason I dont use it is i like going fast. The teryx is not fast at anything. But it is reliable and does good if you wanna go slow. If you ride trails where you can only go 5mph max on anything teryx will be fine. If you can open her up and let her run then rzr, talon,or can am. I hate to say it cause teryx is so cheap but it's a world of difference.
A American Patriot dang man I’m just wanting to get into side by side and wanting reliability I hear bad things about the Polaris I actually own a Polaris sportsman 2018 I just don’t like how they feel so cheap made but I’m still thinking about 3 of the 4 u mentioned Polaris 1000r and can am and the teryx cause I like the price thanks for the input man
Finally, I’ve had a Teryx4 LE since 2016, and ya’ll never talked about Kawasaki. I’m happy to see you do a walk around and review on this one finally. We had a 2014 Viking 3 seater before this one, and you mentioned the doors, funny you mentioned that, cause i park my T4 in a garage with like narrow doors, and when i first got the T4 I forgot about 2 times tha the door wasn’t shut and bout took the drivers door off, cause i was so used to the Viking closing back on its own, haha. Thankfully i flooring it in reverse when i hit the edge of the exit of the garage, wouldn’t have been to too good!! Far as the shocks go, i just them at full soft, i have no idea how to adjust shocks, had them on 2 Can-am atv’s i used to have, never messed with them. Anyways, we love our T4, been a great machine, no issues at all.
Great review and what I believe you are talking about on the clutch is that it has a wet clutch. Meaning that there is a clutch inside the motor as well as the belt clutch like polaris. On a polaris the clutch is always spinning while in contact with the belt causing more belts to heat up and slip. A wet clutch system doesn't spin the outside portion that is in contact with the belt until you are ready to go. The wet clutch will engage then causing the outside clutch to work. The wet clutch system is more belt friendly, but you are having to spin more weight causing a feeling of less power. The great thing about the wet clutch system is you won't be smoking belts . again great review
Finally!!! Great job on the review! I have a 2016 Kawasaki teryx4 and I've sat in both the Pioneer from Honda and the Wolverine X4 from (Yaamaha lol) both are great machines no doubt but if you want to sit four adults all day in a compact sport-utility side-by-side Kawasaki Teryx the only way to go!!! (((in the Honda you chew on your knees in the rear seats and in the Wolverine X4 there is absolutely no footwell room in the rear))) Imo!
NICE! My father has an older Teryx and brother has a newer one and I love them, really nice machines ! lots of storage, power and everything you need. I agree that gauge is a bit small.... and a tail gate would be a nice little option, we always use the tailgate for a small table when we stop for a BBQ and stuff. Good little review DT ! thanks !
Great machine overall, my dad has the last years model and he decided to change the spark plugs and it was BAD, you have to take the ENTIRE center console out along with some other panels.
A tailgate would really benefit the Terex. With such a small box it would be really handy to have a tailgate and cargo box extender similar to what the offer for pickups.
Great review!. I drove a 100 mile run last fall on a Teryx as passenger and my only complaint is the noise. Decent ride and plenty of space, but after about 40 miles, the sound level became rather annoying. Must be because you're sitting on the engine. Non issue for short runs or if you like it loud. Other than that, its a great SxS.
I got a 2014 LE. I love that it has good doors. Makes the machine look finished. Very clean when splashing through puddles. Only have two complaints with mine. First, when going slow in the rain, water rolls off the roof into my lap, so I have to wear rubber pants. Doesn't happen when going faster on open trails. Second is the gas peddle is a weird angle to push. I put a 2" block of wood under my heel on long rides. Another thing is its costs double to insure in my area for some reason and most places wouldn't insure that model when I bought it. Would be nice if they had bench seat available in the back with room for 3 kids. It does have good power and ground clearance. The 4 wheel lock has gotten me out of a few snow drifts and mud holes. I would recommend it to anyone who is in the market for a 4 seater.
I just bought a new Polaris ranger 900a month ago it was between ateryx and the ranger I almost got the teryx4 because the 4 seater is same length as two seater that's awesome but the ranger was just better in alot of ways. I really liked the teryx though.
I always liked the Teryx4, and if it had the engine and suspension of the RZR 1000S (like the General does) it would be in my garage instead of my RZR XP1000. I just couldn't deal with a machine that had a wheelbase as long as the Polaris 4-seaters, or engine and suspension as lacking as the Teryx. I went for performance and I don't regret it, although 4 seats would be nice...
I just bought a 2018 2 seater and I love it this thing has plenty of power I don't think it needs any more power if you take the cat out and do a couple of other things change the mapping you will be fine mine does 52 miles an hour and that stock Polaris may be faster but the Kawasaki has more torque and that's what you want when you go off-roading and it's built a lot better than the Polaris it doesn't take much if you want to go faster but with the Polaris you have to change the axles they arms and a lot more to compete with this machine it also when you put it into low gear it crawls no other side by side has that low of a gear also best belt system on the market this is a fantastic 4x4 if you're looking for a RACE CAR for the sand dunes get a Polaris but you will break axles along with numerous things Kawasaki teryx is a true 4x4
Mr Toal honestly i have a 2018 and it is plenty to have fun with. Top speed is set at 50mph. That is my only gripe other than when the diff lock is limited to 15 mph. But it will climb like no other. It is nimble and you can still kick the tail out if you really want to. But most of all it is great on trails and has the power needed to get the job done. And nobody else can even come close to a 3 year warranty.
Hey Guys, I’m from Sydney Australia, I’m looking at getting one of these, but I would love to see how they drive, I hope that I can see your test drive video on this machine sometime very soon, Take Care 👍🏻
we sold our 2017 Polaris 900 trail and bought a Kawasaki T2 2018 teryx LE matrix grey camo and love it also the dealer Bangor motorsports a 5 star dealer
Biggest complaint..noise. Your not having a conversation on the trail at any speed other than idle. The exhaust is directly under the drivers seat, with no soundproofing or heat defection material. The noise in the cabin was soo loud I took my brand new Teryx4 back to CC Powersports the very next day. I love the Teryx, but I don't love it enough to own it. If your wanting a SXS for the family, seriously get something that has a rear-mounted engine that's accessible.
How loud is it with the engine where it is? I had an Arctic Cat prowler , with the engine in the same place and at 40mph you had to shout to the passenger
I have a 2015 Teryx 4 . My drivers side floor cracked just from getting in and out of the vehicle. I hadn’t taken it in the woods or any crazy 4 wheeling . I took some pictures of the area cracked & took it in for the dealer to check out. They repaired it under warranty. I don’t remember them saying there was a recall but this was several months ago.
Just got caught up on ur last few videos, great job!! keep them coming!! I hope you jump it in the ride review .... I feel like I speak for some of us when I say we like ur new style, and personally I prefer ur new style, but maybe still jump some s***
I heard "for the money" several times in a kindof negative way. The teryx and wolverine 4 are FAR less pricey than their competitors at this trim level. As far as power goes, 60hp is adequate for an 800. I'll take reliability over power any day. See so many riders winching their broken can ams and Polaris every time they use em.
Sierra Kilo I've had a Kawasaki teryx4 since 2016 bought it brand new... Fantastic machine in every aspect that he discussed the belt is very simple to change in a shop but in the field that might be difficult.... I actually just replace my belt at 1, 500 miles but it really didn't need it I only did it because I took it apart to inspect it and I figured for the $90 I may as well put in a upgraded belt ... To replace it you need to remove the passenger front seat the three plastic covers that go over the fuel tank area Cross bar then remove the fuel tank and last the cover on the Belt it only takes about 15 minutes to tear it down hope that helps
r you must have abused the s*** out of them then and not know how to maintain them properly! Out of all the machines I see out there they're the ones that break the least! That's not saying that Yamaha Honda aren't in the same category as they don't break much either!
You mention the Honda Pioneer but not the Yamaha X4? Common man?!?! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eSUnV2sCJN0.html The only reason I can see to buy the Teryx 4 over the Yamaha X4 is if you or your passengers are on the larger side or you want the default 3 year warranty. The X4 has more power, more towing capacity, greatly-reduced noise and cab heat, dry sump oil system, heli-cut gears, better ride even with its non-adjustable shocks (other than preload), better grab bars, more storage in 1-3 person configuration, smaller turning radius, and easier-to-access engine, Adventure Pro availability. I'm sure there's more but that should be good enough for now.
Georges Khoury I bought mine in Canada. $17,000 plus tax.... A comparable Ranger Crew was at least $3000 more and didn’t have a roof, doors, fox shocks, poor tires and a couple other little things.... For the money you get more factory stuff like LED lighting and EPS.... Try one. I have ridden Polaris my entire life and I love the Teryx!! Oh, and a 3 year warranty instead of 6 months!!!
Jerzrod if it ain’t broke... get the newest Polaris and let it be on the shop more than on the trails. But go ahead and enjoy your “newer and refine technology”
Jose Ron your a fool if you don't think the teryx could use some upgrades. Especially in the suspension category. Don't get me wrong I love my Rex but Kawasaki should step up and improve on a great product before they are left further behind.
Yamaha is way better in every aspect this thing is soo so so slow my TRX400X beats it like bad! Also te engine makes 60Hp doesn’t mean you will get that with an overweight chassis with a Terrible Belt design. Get a Yamaha
aaron D I would have to disagree with you on the fact that they Yamaha x 4 beats theTeryx in every way.... I have not driven the Yamaha X4 yet but I have sat in them and look them over they have some great features and seem like a fantastic machine but the rear seats are very poorly thought-out when in for passenger mode, it doesn't have any storage room for four people especially the footwell room for an adult passenger, a Kawasaki seats four adults all around no matter where you sit an adult will be comfortable all day I have a Kawasaki Teryx 4 2016 800 motor and I keep up with 1000 ranges and Can-Am Defenders with no problem on the trails up in the Northeast but it would never compete with a razor or General.
