I bought mine last November, been enjoying it ever since. It's an absolute pleasure to ride, with a great comprise between sport, retro and actually comfortable to ride. A zero gravity screen helped on the highway.

@@nothinghere1996 I get a bit of a numb sensation after a while but it's not a pain rather just irritating. I also would get this same sensation with my previous bike and it was a naked bike so more of an up right body position. I use my "cramp buster" on trips over 1 hr and that does the trick. Hope that helps

I was 16 when the original Z900 came out in 1973 and I grew up on UJMs. I brought a new 2022 Z900RS last year and for this now 66 y/o former MSF instructor it's perfect. I agree with the brake and throttle issues and I plan to install S/S brake lines and have the ECU re-flashed. I've already installed a small Puig windscreen with visor, a center stand, and a GIVI luggage rack. The broad powerband and the ability to ride in a higher gear are pluses for me. As stated no bike is perfect right off the showroom floor, but to have a retro looking ride with all modern technology and good road manners is just what I wanted.

I bought a 2018 Z900RS Cafe 1 year ago here in Australia. I love this bike. You can chuck it around in the twisties like a SuperSport, yet its' so comfortable on long distance rides, w/ good fuel economy. It's also and excellent every day bike for the daily commute and traffic. Its very comfortable on those long journeys - although I say this after 20 years on hard core sports bikes!!

Took mine to the mountains. it rides really well, primarily because of the in-line 4 motor. The only issue is that there's not a lot of motor-stopping when coming down the mountains at a brisk pace so you will need some heavy braking. The stock breaks are awful, so I switcheed to Brembo brakes and that changed the whole equation of this bike.

I have had my 19 Z900RS Cafe for about a year now and I absolutely LOVE it. I took it to the Tail of the Dragon for the first time and didn't ride too hard as it was my first time on the tail but I didn't scrape pegs too much (once or twice) at a decent pace. Great commuter because of comfort but fast enough to hang with 600cc and liter bikes! You're not gonna win the race but off the line you will beat them lol. Brian changed my rear tire and made a few adjustments but you're right Chase only need a fender eliminator and maybe different brakes otherwise 10/10! I do want a tune and exhaust from Brock's Performance as they have a stock to Brocks option but for now she's got the true Spirit of a Cafe bike. Best thing is no matter if you're racing around town, cruising to work, or tearing up the twistys she can do it all with Style and Comfort! OC

On the 2019 Z900RS cafe which I do own, there are two KTRIC ride modes, normal and rain mode, or just just turn off KTRIC. Add the akro header and stock muffler with an ECU flash gets you close to 117 HP. You loose ten pounds with the akro header, and gain 11-12 HP. The only drawback for this bike is the rear shock for heavier riders needs stronger springing and higher damping levels. Set up for 175 lbs rider. Does great on smooth roads and 6/10's riding but damping will fade with 20-30 minutes of harder riding or slightly rougher roads. Increased preload on rear shock helps a bunch and gives a bit quicker turn in feel as well if your weight is over 185. The ECU flash makes a world of difference in that snatchy throttle. This is a great ride and it truly grows on you quickly. Over 3000 miles on mine now and its great fun.
@gtrs4ever
@gtrs4ever 3 года назад
Chase there is 3 modes, off, 1, & 2 (rain). My 2019 is decat, installed delkevic header and ECU flashed by Ivan. Yes, the throttle is twitchy, but it got better after I re-adjusted the throttle free play.

I fell in love with this model ever since I first saw it at EICMA in 2017. At that moment I had a CB900 in the garage, that I loved so much. I was saving for an Africa Twin last year, but a real opportunity arose and I have bought the Kawasaki Z900RS Café new, for half the price of the HAT. Not same porpose bike, but GOD, what a beauty and fun motorcycle it is. On the negatives other that the snatchy throttle, I would mention the ABS coming in too soon on the back wheel. It might actually be a good feature for security reasons. Other than that, beans! I love it!

Just bought this bike and I'm loving it. It does have a rain mode. I am 5'8 and I cannot sit flat footed on this with both feet down. Does not matter to me, I usually only drop one foot and a stop light. The bike is fairly comfortable and like the reviewer said my back is fine on it. In traffic my hands do get fatigued, vibration through grips, clutch. I'm buying foam grips I think will help with that. The bike can be snappy in low gear. Kawasaki hit a homerun with this bike.
@keithsada1380
@keithsada1380 2 года назад
I put foam grips on mine and some 20mm Voit bar risers. That's the most you can go without getting longer cables. I also rotated the bar mounts 180° which sets them back a little bit. The combination of the rise up and back made a world of difference.

I can't wait to get 1. The 2022s just came out with brmbo breaks. As far as the twitchy throttle, I have a ninja 1000 and my 3rd gear will take me from 35 miles per hour to 150 miles per hour so if I'm in 1st or 2nd gear at 40 miles an hour it's gonna be twitchy because of all the power so if I'm at 40 mph, I'm literally in 4th gear, relaxing and the bike never even gets close to 2000 rpm's, which is what you want to be above. the only problem I have with mine, is the compression circuit on the front right fork is very stiff. You can get the rebound pretty right with stock fork oil, but compression feels wooden. You can soften it a bit with thinner fork oil and wind the compression adjuster out all the way, but then rebound is too soft. Since compression is only on the right fork, I could probably fix it cheap by using different weight oil in each fork, but ultimately the compression circuit needs to be revalved from the factory

A lot of folks recommend an ECU flash and you get some decent HP gains as well. When compared to its rivals, I do think its missing some character and the details could be better (indicators for example or more color options). Kawasaki doesn't really offer any accessories to personalize the bike either. The bike has been out since 2018 and the 2022 model is no different other than the color scheme. Would love to have seen Kawasaki take some customer feedback and improve on the bike. Maybe 2023? Overall the bike is great and with a little aftermarket help, it can be ever better. For the price and what you get over its rivals, you should definitely shortlist this bike, especially if you're in the classic motorcycle market. Love the video Chase! This bike needed a shout out!

Absolutely agree , I'm a veteran now ( raced supermotos once ), then raced a race prepped 220hp R1 , sold it last year ( wasn't street legal due to the mods ) , now I'm looking for a more relaxed bike for relaxed riding , like this Z900RS cafe. And now i don't care even if I'm losing races in the streets , cuz i had clocked a top speed of 310kph, and I've won championships before , so I'm very much self satisfied now !

Take it off traction control and it's a wheelie machine. I own a 2019 Cafe and I love the bike. I used to have the 1984 Eddie Lawson Replica and this bike is just as fun to ride as the my road racing bike was back in the day. I think your judging this bike a little harshly as it pertains to the suspension and brakes. If your wanting a great weekend warrior bike this is your bike. It's a blast to ride in the twisties out here in Northern Az where I'm at and performs great at higher speeds.If you get the ECU tuned by Ivans it will fix the throttle issue as well as the bike running a touch lean and make it run a little cooler.

I've currently got an MT-10 too but am considering moving to this bike. If you did some suspension, exhaust and engine tuning how do u think the RS cafe would compare re overall performance in the fast twisty bits?

OC: I love them. I have an FZ07 right now and would consider making a lateral move to an XSR700 for the looks alone.

Looks amazing but how "authentic" is it next to the Triumph Truxton or BMW RnineT? I know it looks like a greatest hits from Kawasaki's past but does it feel old school?

I just bought the z900 RS, and I agree that the throttle is a bit twitchy. It takes some time to get used to.

Get the ecu flashed, it’ll sort the twitchy throttle, increase the horsepower, richens the air fuel mixture and makes the bike run even better, it’s the best mod you can do for it.

You can order the windscreen/shroud thru Revzilla for the z900rs and the bike will look just like the Cafe but you will more more of a relaxed riding position on the rs.

I had this bike's uglier/faster sister (z900) until about a week ago...my main issue with it was in line with your comment at the 30:37 mark - the bike felt like it was just loafing along unless I was really giving it the beans, and doing that meant I was going quite a bit faster than I want to on the regular. I guess put me in the "it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast" camp...

I personally like the regular non cafe version. Still looks good, would be nice if you can take on and off that fairing though. Didn't think I'd like that bright paint scheme, but you see it in real life, and it works man!. I do wish you could turn off ABS though. OC
