lot of singers CAN but NEVER sounded beautifully as Mariah did. Mariah's powerful yet, soft like a butter voice sounds soooo pleasant to most of our ears.
Brian McKnight later hopped on, & did a remix with Mariah Carey. I felt like both her version, & this version was what they all sang, beautifully. 👏🏻❤️💜
In the studio, yes, where she could edit and interconnect all her phrasings to make it sound as if she's not breathing in between them (the song "when i saw you" is the best example of her songs with heavily interconnected phrasings)
@@TrisTan-wo7tf LMAOOOOOOOO. I’m glad people know. The way she edited a lot of her studio shit was literally inhuman. Even down to some of the belting she would pitch up. Some of the coordinations only a child would’ve been able to bring it up that high in full density.

@@dim1019 actually all of her songs produced after the emotions era were done with heavily interconnected phrasings. She's not breathing while phrasing for at least 30seconds. Of course we know she had never demonstrated such ability in live. She's a great singer but her studio efforts are heavily edited that they are inhumanely possible.
That's not always true actually... In fact it's not that much about how high in your voice a song is (as long as it's not completely outside of your range) It really depends on the places in which you as a singer change registers/shift resonances. Sometimes it can be a release to take a song up a whole step (not because you can't hit the low notes but because your mix has more/better resonance and handling there) But in this case, you might be right

Kelly always always ALWAYS eats Mariah’s big powerful voices songs up but this one, where she uses that angelic/ethereal head voice of hers and then proceeds do the most complex gymnastics of her whole catalog next to “outside”, gave Kelly a run for her money but she def did great once the song got to the belted parts. I wonder if Mariah intentionally asked her to sing this because of how hard it is.

Mariah Carey and Brian McNight’s version is still better for me. It’s the softness in both of their voices at the beginning but end is so powerful. Higher notes also

They singing like they in some kind of competition they are not having fun and he looking so restraint. Although he has a nice voice so does Kelly we all know that, but he needs to be more intimate in his performance and not focus so much on how he will deliver his vocal ability and just let it flow.

I love Kelly. that isn't Justin Bieber and they did not "slay" this song. they did a great attempt in my opinion. they were almost always in pitch but I feel their voices and harmonies sounded a bit off and the arrangement (music) was really boring. the drums are mic'd so badly, the climax and resolution to the song did not have the same impact. just do yourself a favour and listen to the Mariah/Brian McKnight version and you will see what I mean.
One thing I can definitely say this is not Brian and Mariah gotta give them credit for trying but for their version on a scale from 1-10 I give them a 5 that's the best I can do.........
