After nearly 4 months of test driving & comparing the (2020) ES 350 F Sport with the Volvo S 60 r w/ Polestar download, Audi A5 Sportback S Line, and Genesis g80/(loaded) I’ve finally decided on the Lexus. A VERY tough call. Comfort, reliability and initial cost all tilted toward Lexus. I used to think Lexus was an old man’s car...and it is. But now I’m an old man, so there’s that!
Umaxen 00 Just get a gs if you're looking for a replacement, the es is nothing but a heavier tarted up Avalon, while the gs is a true luxury sedan that actually feels sporty and feels + drives like a true sports sedan.
listen go drive one and you will change your mind on look feel ride price and reliability. all german cars or more or less vw and are over priced not very reliable and we all know american cars suck now. this is your best bet for 36k abd what are you gonna actually get for under 50k thats actually better. none of you drive over 80mph on a consistent basis or over 25miles so dont mention the speed excuse
They should’ve added some accent trim that breaks up that interior and that shade of black pretty much everywhere in the interior just makes it look bland.
i've only ever owned japanese cars. have had my lexus ct200h 2013 with 70k miles and haven't had one issue, except for a head-light defect. no engine problems.
Nice exterior and interior. I would buy it but I don’t like the touch pad. It’s very distracting and confusing to use. I’ll stick to idrive or audi’s mmi system. The knob/wheel just works the best with better tactile feedback and not taking your eyes off the road to figure out what you just touched.
petty shit about the rear seat head room - Sad about ford not making any sedans? Tell me the last time you owned a ford Sedan, thats not a mustang? Give me a break bro - Stop homogenizing your reviews to represent a german car - its not a BMW - its not trying to be - be real!~
Lexus Gs is, and always will be, better than the es, which is just a tarted up Avalon, while the gs is a true sports sedan that feels much better to drive, and can do all of the functions the es can do. So do yourselves a favor and just get a gs
I'm a young buyer. Im all in for the FSport package but does it have a rougher ride than a non FSport model because of the sport tuned suspension? I like a really smooth ride with the looks of the FSport package.
jason brody A platform is literally just the thing the body and equipment is matched too. With that being said all of the material are different, there are features that aren't available in the Avalon and this car was built from the ground up to be a luxury vehicle so it's going to be stiffer, quieter and shift differently.
As a former 2014 Lexis GS 350F Sport owner, this ES is not a true F Sport, it is front wheel drive. What a disappointment. And who gives a crap about apple and android play! That seems to be what everyone is concerned about.
That black interior does not show well in the video. Maybe it's the lighting, but it does not _look_ premium. Hard touch plastics on the dash in a Lexus!!!??? The design of the dash reminds me of a 1990s Ford Taurus, in a bad way. Pass.
alliejr A lot of cars in this category have hard touch plastics, like BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. ( Atleast that’s what’s Lexus is aiming at) It’s very minimal and I believe it’s meant for easy access to the guts of the infotainment system, but I could be wrong. I do agree this black interior does not do the ES well and looks bland. The red leather option or the beige look significantly better and much more upscale and luxurious. I don’t really see much of the Taurus in this, but hey everyone is welcome to their opinion. I think this car you just need to see and feel in person to get the true gist of it. Videos don’t always do cars justice.
Go and actually look and compare your trashy Ford to Lexus plastic. Lexus plastics are on level with Audi. This is just a sad man with a sad rant. Please do no insult a great car with your insufficient knowledge.
Xenon Kyre Wait, so the ES competes with the 3series? I thought it was the IS that competes in that segment. I thought ES went head to head with the 5 series...what am I missing?
SCM You’re not wrong about that. The IS is Lexus competitor to the 3 series. Recently Lexus said they want this new ES to compete with the 3 series as well as the C Class. It’s odd, cause I don’t think the ES should compete with this segment, but I don’t believe it’s up to the E Class or 5 series. That’s kind of why they have the GS. It’s really not clear on what they’re aiming for. Hopefully they’ll clarify all this.
Xenon Kyre It's odd indeed. Stranger still - I saw a British review of the ES and apparently, its going to replace the GS over there. A mistake on their part; as to your point, the ES isn't inline with the E-class and 5 series. I'm really not sure what Lexus is playing at.
The F Sport design language looks nice and sporty. However, its just an appearance package. Granted that they have a V6, but 0-60 is worse than a 2.0t or their Camry? Cmon, this is SLOW. Please don't tell me "Lexus isn't going for performance" because if that is the case then that means Lexus literally is just selling this package to attract posers.
Well, it does get a "sporty" suspension upgrade to go with all the F-ing bling, so there's that. It's got at least a few hundred pounds on the Camry (since it's really a tarted-up Avalon, and heavier than it too!), so it's not gonna be as fast.
The F-Sport package is similar to the M Sport package, S-line package, and AMG-Line package. These are all mostly about appearance. Lexus actually went one step ahead of the Germans in including a stiffer suspension.
Again, Lexus let everyone in your design department go, I left your brand after 3 Lexus. Can’t deal with these new looks anymore, it’s gotten out of hand. They don’t look good, have you seen the rear of the new LS ? Proportions are off and it looks plain odd. Cars at this price range sell a lot on emotions...Look at them, Ugh. New Cayman in the garage :-)
Grew up in a family that only bought Toyotas (Reliable, efficient). Graduated, started making some bit of money and decided to upgrade from a 2005 Corolla. "Naturally", I visited the nearest Lexus dealership to take a look at the IS 350. Utter disappointment. Bought an Infiniti G37 sedan instead. Toyota/Lexus === reactive, Everyone else === proactive.
