Here's my long-term review of the 2019 Merida One Twenty. I think its a really good all round trail bike that is very balanced in terms of climbing vs descending and in the way the bike handles. Have any questions about the bike? Leave a comment and I'll answer it.
Pretty happy with how this review turned out. I think this will be the new review format going forward. What do you think?

Thanks for the review, just getting into mountain biking and was looking at options in this price range, you convinced me to pull the trigger on the merida after also considering a polygon, stumpjumper, and norco fluid

Been searching for a while for a Full Suspension. So many on Ebay. Unfortunately they have been put through there paces. After doing my Home work. And watching your video. I pulled the Trigger. I ride a DIY Hard Tail. Mostly Trail ride. Love your video. Very informative. Bike arrives Tomorrow. Can't wait. Plus I love 29 niners.

Thanks for your good reviews! I've been thinking of Merida one forty 600/one twenty 600, GT Sensor Sport/Comp, Giant Trance 3, polygon D7. I prefer the smaller wheels (27.5) - had a good 29er hardtail and found the steering the big wheels quite strange compared to my CX/commuter bike. Which ones would you recommend to look more at? Would be using it around the Hornsby area and fire trails.

Seen a few of your reviews mate, the content is really good and you cover everything in great detail. Only criticism I can offer constructively is perhaps a little higher quality of production in your sections based at home. Video and sound are great just perhaps a better setting? Looking forward to more reviews. Cheers.

Thanks for watching mate! More than happy to receive construction criticism. I completely agree with you. I just fixed up the garage into a bit more of a studio this week! I'll be posting a video this evening in the new setting, so let me know what you think. Thanks again for the comment, I'm always looking to improve things for you guys.

Hi Phil. Great reviews. What are your thought on the upgrades to the One Twenty 600 2021? would you still recommend going up to the 700 or do these upgrades narrow the gap? For similar money this or the T8?

Same layout, but the kinematics of the suspension are a little different but they do feel similar. In terms of the shock I can't seem to find the size. On the shock there should be a measurement on it somewhere. It will be something like 200x51mm or similar. Depending on the size you just need to buy a shock with the same measurement. There will be options in a Fox DPS and Rockshox Monarch

Hey mate, awesome review! In your opinion would this bike be a good all rounder for someone who can only have 1 bike who does some amateur xc races (for fun) and hits the trails? I like descending for the jumps and technical features and dont have a need to go as fast as possible. However, I also need a bike that can climb fairly well. Also as a shorter rider (at 5ft 7) would I be better off picking the wheel size i can easily control (27.5)? Thanks mate keep up the awesome content!
@trailtalkmtb6603
@trailtalkmtb6603 5 лет назад
So sorry Tristan did see your comment. The one twenty would be the perfect bike for you at 5 7 id try a medium. In regards to wheel size its personal preference. I prefer 29ers in this travel range just because they roll a bit faster and are more forgiving but if you prefer jumps then 27.5 would be good. 29 will be better for racing

I wish the headtube angle was a little slacker. Do you think an angled headset would improve this bike? Would there be any negatives?
@trailtalkmtb6603
@trailtalkmtb6603 5 лет назад
You could put an angle set in but this will lower the bb and reduce your reach slightly. Definitely would be a bit of trial and error. You could boost the fork to 140 and use a 1 degree angleset (that will probably yield the best result and give you a decent bb height). Alternatively you could boost the fork to 140 and see if you could find an offset bushing for the lower shock mount to lower the bb a little. Both would work but again you would be reducing the reach. I'd only do this if you are on the smaller end of a size range e.g. 5ft10 on a size large.

I'm looking at the 2020 version of this or the 800. I can afford the 800 but for a casual trail and XC rider I'm not sure I need to spend the extra coins on the 800. I just sold a 150mm travel 27.5 Stumpy and looking for something a bit livelier and suited to more moderate terrain and climbing. I've heard differing opinions about the NX drivetrain also.

@mudbutton2
@mudbutton2 3 года назад
@@azurecoast45 Been quite happy. I put a 40mm stem on, and converted to tubeless, the Sektor fork is OK for trail riding but not great. 2021 gets the Marzocchi Z2. the bike climbs well and descends well enough for a 120mm bike, and feels like it has more than 120mm travel.

@sionevalele5159
@sionevalele5159 3 года назад
There really isn't that much of a difference except for the suspension. On the one twenty 9 400 it comes with a sr suntour xcr 34 air and on this newer model it has rock shocks suspension and they both have 130 mm of travel in the front and 120 mm in the rear

Thanks for all the great info! I'm looking at the Merida 120 400 (2021) which I can get for around $1900 or the Polygon Siskiu D7 which is $2400 - any thoughts about whether it's worth paying the extra $500 for the Polygon? I can see the shocks and brakes are better but I'm a newbie so not sure if it's worthwhile... thanks in advance!

I have this bike i was in the trail today and hit a jump landed and the tire blew out i see the bike has some chinese brand of inner tube that was super thin i ordered maxxis welterweights 27.5x2.35 and i thought the forekasters were ok tires i see that you said you didnt really think they were that great do you have a good recommendation of tires i could purchase for my merida il spend anything to get a bike right i landed on a tree root and it slashed the side of my tire so much for exo protection
@trailtalkmtb6603
@trailtalkmtb6603 4 года назад
Yeah a lot of brands use light tubes to keep the bike weight down on the shop floor. I would keep the forekaster on the rear and put a DHR 3C maxx terra upfront. I would stick to EXO for this kind of bike the DD casing really would be too heavy, unfortunately slashes do happen. Going tubeless will help too, just carry some plugs around with you.

fishing don't be turned off by that, any 500 dollar hardtail isnt going to be the best regardless of the brand. They all use the same components brand to brand. The one twenty is a great bike, definitely go the 600 or 800 if you are interested in getting one as they're the best value.
