10:55 I can't believe this is still common practice in North America. The shoulder is not a safe space to pull someone over and have a chat. In Europe they usually put up a 'follow police' sign and they take you to the nearest exit or rest area. The chance of getting struck by distracted drivers is just too great.
European Roads yeah its pretty common here, they don't seem to worry too much about it. I know over in Europe it's a big concern because I watch that BBC show on the A1 "Britain's Longest Road", and the cops are always saying that too!
European Roads Before the 2010 winter olympics this road was more like that. BTW, I'm in your neck of the woods right now (staying at a hostel in Amsterdam right now), I'll be heading to Germany tommorow morning!
This highway is specially really beautiful, as the landscape along the sound looks very impressive. I bet that road was pretty expensive. Greetings from Germany.
socarboy Thanks Scott, I'm just glad I went early in the morning, I saw that the highway was jam packed on the way back going the other way a few hours later.
CanadianDriver JEZ Thanks, there will be a part 2 of this up to Whistler, plus I've got footage of it the other way too (recorded later that day in the afternoon).
I've driven this road a lot...love it every time...heads up...do highway 99 from Whistler to Cache Creek (aka the Duffey Lake Road etc.) it's absolutely SPECTACULAR!
The BC Coast has to be one of the prettiest parts of Canada, with beautiful mountains, towering trees, scenic fjords, not to mention Canada's mildest climate. The Rocky Mountains do give the BC Coast some considerable competition for the title of Canada's best scenery, however.
11:31 - I like how you think that the stretch of road is narrow. Compared to some some of the 'Main' roads near me, you could land a jumbo jet on that road. But as always, still lovin' your videos!
daily-explorer-ah For some reason RU-vid compression on this one is a bit more severe than I would have liked, it's a bit softer than usual. I kept reuploading my master copy hoping to get a sharper image (the master file from my editor is sharper), but youtube seems to do bad things when there's lots of trees near the road.
Rick Ghosh yeah it was jam packed on my way back a few hours later when I looked on the other side of the road (you'll eventually see that one too going the other way). So it was a good thing I woke up so early to record this. This was recorded around 6:30am on a Saturday morning.
Fantastic, One of my favourite drives ever. Have you ever driven highway 99 right through whistler and up the Duffey lake road to Lillooet? It is truly spectacular
Even if there was ever a proposal to connect Alaska with the rest of the United States which the Canadian government, British Columbia, and Yukon Territory to say extend Interstate 5 into BC connecting either to Juneau or the main section of Alaska further to the north which would include Yukon Territory I can imagine such a project with US funding included being a rather expensive undertaking for all parties involved. It get me to think if even such a project of a full freeway would be possible. Keep in mind freeway does not have to be divided, all it needs to do is look one on single carriage similar to say highway 107 in Nova Scotia, AKA a controlled access expressway or Super Two.
I'm planning on a trip to Whistler Stables this Sunday and I was wondering if N drivers are allowed to drive on Sea to Sky. Are there any tips to not get dizzy, my friends said they're dizzy when they stared at the concrete barriers.
