Loud clicking/tapping noise from the front of my 2019 Silverado HD. Anyone have any ideas before it goes to the dealer?

Finally figured it out... one of the fan blades was slightly longer and was just touching the plastic support bracket that holds the fan shroud on every revolution. I shaved it down a hair with a file and so far so good.

Mine is now doing it. Will go to the dealer. Hopefully that is a warranty item.

My 2019 is doing the same thing, already had the dealer fix it once, taking it back tomorrow for recalls and to address this noise.

2019 3500 same issue. Has only done it in the warmer months so it's a heat issue is seems. Will check into where the fan is hitting the shroud.

Yes, as the fan clutch kicks in the fan spins faster and flexes hitting the shroud. Just reach in there with the engine off and spin the fan blades backwards and the one that catches is the longer one that needs a little sanding/ filing down.

@@xlandscaper Only place I can see it getting close enough is to the top support braces of shroud. Less than 1/8" clearance it seems. Also some of the fan blades have some excess material still attached from when the were molded.

Ended up taking a razor blade and shaving the contact area. No more issues.

Awesome! I took a file to the one fan blade and shaved off a little bit and it seems ok so far.

I Can’t seem to figure it out, everything looks fine. When I take it in for the 1st oil change and the block heater recall I’m going to have them fix it.

Logan Pope nope. And it’s seemingly getting louder. I’m taking the truck in for service soon so I’ll get back to ya when they fix it

One of the fan blades was slightly longer from the factory. I filed it down a bit

It’s the radiator fan hitting the shroud. My brand new 2019 does it as well. Has the dealer done anything for you?
