2019 Toyota Camry XLE Hybrid Review & Drive || The Mid-Size King's Got A Green Thumb 

My dad used his vacation time that he saved up to buy that Camry before he retired. Took that vehicle on a cross country trip up to the northeast and he loves it.

I just brought the 2020 Toyota Camry XLE . I love it the best car ever! You can't go wrong.

Nice review! The XLE's are actually pretty nice in person! Only thing that I don't really care for, is the giant grille up front, as you mentioned.

I’m getting 58mpg’s in my 2019 Hybrid Camry. Way more than when ‘I had my 2017hybrid. Major improvement.

My wife just bought one and loves it. So far so good. I haven’t driven it yet. Too much tech to be distracted by! I love the look of the enormous grille btw. Makes it unique and aggressive. To each his own.

Battery is not in the trunk. It's under the rear seat.

It's a hybrid, drive it as one.

hi..i have the 2018 Camry hybrid the 2018 and 19 is the same with a few changes inside the 18 does not have two chargers in back the 19 does (you have a 18 not the 19) in the summer i get 58.1 mpg...my power boost is sport mode push gas pedal half way down until i feel battery power kick in then just a little more gas..you will have to play with it to get it right. you will have more power without engine noise!

I just bought the 16 Camry hybrid. The hybrid battery is between the trunk and back seat. I do get how you have more space with the battery under the seat in the 18 and above, but now it leaves it more open to a bigger concern of ice or water getting under the seat if the ice thaws or water bottle leaks making the hybrid battery more susceptible to water damage. Why toyota changed the fuel tank size from 17 gallons down to 13.2 gallons, I don't get!

I have a 2018 4 cylinder limited Subaru legacy and though it was not my first choice, the lack of AWD in the Camry hybrid was a major factor in my decision, I know there is a school of thought that some all season tires can compensate for AWD but I don't want to experiment in my neck of the woods, plus I'm surprised that Android auto is still not being offered. So far no regrets but I hope to buy the B4ZX or the Solterra EV in the future.

Just some feedback, in the last few videos there seems to be some kind of fog or smudge in the middle/right part of your camera lens. Noticeable when outside and kind of ruins the review experience. Great review

Order in July 2019 ... get it at 10th of January 2020 ... and ... what should i say ... I´m absoFUCKinlute HAPPY ... It´s great to drive a car like that ... under 6 Liters ... Here in Germany ... i´m not so glad with 180km/p.h. (195) but it´s FUN at the GAS-STATION ... ;) It dosn´t need 20.000 € more ... to get a Lexus 300 ... even it´s a great car 2 ... The Camry is just fantastic ... that is really what i think ... and by the way ... ... ... :cool:

Great review, thanks! I did look at the Hybrid Camrys but Toyota should have used the better battery in all trim levels. If you go above the LE Hybrid you don't get the full fuel economy advantage over a standard gasoline engine plus with all three hybrid trim levels you're stuck with that CVT transmission instead of the new 8-speed in the non-hybrids Camrys. I ended up buying a non-hybrid 2019 SE and love it. I thought hard about upgrading to the XSE but it's a $4000 upgrade with much I really didn't need and more things that could go wrong, like the 19" wheels and extra electronics.

All that and you couldn't be bothered to tell us what kind of MPG you got driving around? FAIL

Sorry your information is incorrect on the Camry ventilated seats. Toyota does not offer them in the Camry in any trim level. You have to step up to the Avalon for heated and cooled seats.

One last comment, so you would use sport mode like when you're driving through the mountains of West Virginia? Just a good example because that's enough to give pretty much anyone motion sickness, or maybe I'm just one of the unlucky ones. I'm surprised that you had it in eco mode most of the time. I never turn eco mode on my car pretty much ever. I thought on the 07 only had to do with the heating and cooling system. Do most of the buyers use eco mode all of the time and is that what you have to use in order to get the fuel economy that they talk about? I suppose eco would be fine most of the time, but for curves... 🏞️ And the Camry sells as well as it does probably also because folks look at these safety ratings and they are perfect for this vehicle and have been for a long time. Who wants to lose their life in their vehicle? I'll take a hard pass on that one and that's why I only look at vehicles with perfect safety ratings which vastly slashes through the field specially when you want a hybrid with all the latest features. This is really the only thing out there that meets those requirements. What's your life worth?

I actually hate the transmission steps. Kinda like my dad missing the tactle feedback of the rotary phone. TX steps are actually an inefficiency and performance handicap.

So the seat is perfect for someone who's 6 foot 1. How's it going to feel for the wife who is a foot shorter and does most of the driving? Maybe somewhere in the middle is a better goal for Toyota to aim for. Or maybe it feels good for both heights. I guess you'd have to get into the vehicle to find out. Also, little irked that the highest trim level has a less efficient battery. Hoping 2020 brings a change to that. Really love the interior look of the darker black leather. They've really made the Camry Hybrid a classier vehicle than my 07. Pleased overall, just don't see the point of those birds eye cameras to be honest. Guess I roll old school around here. Thanks for your review. A couple bits of info. The Entune suite is included only as an introductory offer and, after a few months, each capability (remote start, remote status of windows, etc) Each requires a subscription of $8 a month. Major disappointment! (Are you listening, Toyota?) Mine has never gotten over 45mpg in the first 10k mi. And your praise for the Camry is at least a little misleading; you're test-driving the Camry XLE Hybrid, not the same as a basic Camry--and 30% more expensive. Finally, consider putting your free hand in your pocket instead of waving it around. It's distracting.

Well better has bombproof reliability bc it looks fugly inside and outside. Seriously what's with that face? A giant dead fish or something. With Toyota it's either ugly Predator or worse fish face. The interior designer was fired in like 2002.
