If you have a rav4 make sure you fill out a complaint with NHTSA. It will help track every vehicle with the issue so we can get a recall/reimbursement for this issue. It's on all the camry's as well. Toyota needs to fix this.
Basically the reason for that cost is shop time is like $150/hr and this requires draining and refilling the coolant. Apparently it's a pain in the ass to get it apart but it shouldn't be out of reach for a mechanically inclined person with plenty of tools. Another commenter said "I did it myself it’s only one bolt and two hoses to disconnected remember to pull back the clips on the hose, to release the hose then pull down" which may be useful advice for folks trying to do it themselves.
I just had the same issue, seemed to mostly show up when I had my A/C on. Took it to my dealer they told me it just needed an oil change, WRONG! They proceed to tell me my car needed a Diagnostic ($189) but they would give me a discount and it would only be $150! Well once they did the diagnostic they confirmed it was the coolant bypass valve. 16260-F0010 HOSE ASSY ($102.54), 50/50 PINK EXT-LIFE ASIAN PINK COOLANT ($33) LABOR ($355.32) Well I told them I had purchased a (2k) insurance when I bought the veichle so it covered it. But definetly agree Toyota Corporate should recall this valve!!!!
@@shanealarcon7928 actually Toyota sent out a letter to Toyota owners that this issue has been recalled already. So there shouldnt be no charge if to take it to the dealership to get it fix.
Same issue here. Popped up about 6 months ago.. was ignoring it thinking it was somthing stupid because it turns off randomly! Dammit!! 😣 Great Video! Thanks!
Same issue here My RAV4 2019 35,000 miles over $700 coolants Valve very disappointing I’ve owned Toyotas for years very minor to no issues they need to bump up their quality to what they used to
the same thing happened to my 2019 rav4 @48400 miles it is going to cost $669 and when I called Toyota corporate they said there was no extended warranty and that it was on the customer to come out of pocket even though multiple rav4 drivers suffer the same exact issue to no fault to the driver.
I agree. I saw on another post, that it doesn't hurt to contact the Toyota corporate and try to get goodwill assistance to pay for it. File a claim and maybe it'll lead to a recall for others in the future
They should definitely do a recall but I doubt it. I haven’t had my RAV4 for one week so far (thankfully it’s covered under my extended warranty) but the part is on back order. It’s some type of coolant sensor. I am so angry just a month ago I had my car they’re replacing the headliner for a leak. My car just about has 30,000 miles on it and already two things went wrong and none of them have recalls but yet if you Google leak and headliner when you go through car wash when it rains or snows, you’ll see all over the Internet 2020 robs have this problem along with 2019 up until the 2022 and now this issue. My car was just going to go in for a wash and wax and then I had a surprise having it to sit there waiting for this sensor part to come in. I’m so upset and unhappy with Toyota. They need yo do a recall on both the HEADLINER LEAK (Toyota RAV4 2019, 2020, & 2021) & now this COOLANT SENSOR 😡
$150 just to diagnose your vehicle? That’s the cost of the part! This is why I support the local family owned shops. They are the best and could have saved you a lot of money.
Toyota's have gone downhill! This is the second major problem i've had with my car since owning it and i've only owned the car since january. I don't even have 55,000 miles on my car yet. I feel your pain! I can't afford to have this problem right now.
Had this issue on my 2020 rav4. Had 54k. Was quoted $650.00. for repair and they had the part in stock. Spoke w/ service department mngr. was told that Toyota will pay $300 as a good will. I paid only $350.
This is a big ass deal ... i have 2020 corolla se. Same problem ,how ever i was told my car was the first corrola with this issue ..but rav 4s its ramped
It’s not the same thibg, this is engine maintenance required. For scheduled maintenance it will say maintenance required. Super confusing how similar they are tho 😅
@@jennifersantiago3936 Great insight! Definitely helps as a reminder to change the oil and do basic inspection if anything. I also follow the maintenance book that comes with the car which also aligns with the intervals & dash alert. Thinking of extending oil changes since the oil I get is too expensive. Oil still shows to be usable when it comes out too.
I have 2020 Toyota corolla with 52,000 miles and dashboard light came on engine maintenance require visit your dealership,Is that OEM-coolant water control value.. problem..
Same thing happens to my 2019 Corolla 2.0. I went to the dealership and they are charging me for $650. I'm thinking to DIY. I ordered the parts and the parts cost $100.
Part number 16671-F2010 It is call value assy, Flow shutting, I went to the dealership and got $105 , They want to charge me $620 to change it I did it myself it’s only one bolt and two hoses to disconnected remember to pull back the clips on the hose, to release the hose then pull down.. Just remember if you Toyota corolla Camry or RAV4 says (Engine maintenance Require visit your dealer),God bless you and have a nice holidays..😅
Hello friend, greetings, have you already solved your truck? I have a 2020 that gave me that warning and I went to the dealership and they are charging me 600 for that valve, what do you recommend?
bhai Aapki previous video me ik question pucha Tha ki As a student usa Aane par PR hone me kitna time lgta hai Kya process hota Hai Kitna Time lagage PR hone . Plz rply. Make a Video on This Bhai Plz 🙏🙏🙏
I bought my car last year used and had to get the same part replaced. I think I paid about 450-$500.. It’s definitely crazy how low quality some of these parts are
Very disappointing. Seems like my car is in the shop every couple of month. Make sure to fill out a complaint on NHTSA so we can get a recall/reimbursement.
Same notice has come out to me at 83000 km , they told me there is coolant by pass valve leak ,although there was no clear sign on my car , not over heated, driving was ok on the road Anyway it cost me around 290$
The coolant bypass valve can fail two ways, either always open or always closed. Either it can prevent hot coolant from returning to the radiator so the engine can overheat, or it can prevent the radiator from being bypassed during cold start so the engine will take a lot longer to warm up. This would be particularly bad in the winter.
Six hundred dollars for some stupid valve, can you bypass it, would look into running without it, black electric tape over that stupid annoying message center.
