@jonathanmarquise422
@jonathanmarquise422 5 лет назад
@@normt5463 that's mostly because people are idiots. they will trade in their vehicle every 3 years for a new truck because they redesign ford's and chevy's every 2 years. toyota makes the tundra for people who want a truck. they can beat the crap out of it and it will still be running in over a decade. if the infotainment gets outdated, you can actually install a new one. HVAC controls and things like that aren't part of the infotainment system. plus, when you go to sell your tundra after 10 years and 120,000 miles, it's still worth quite a bit of money.

@@jonathanmarquise422 must be smart idiots if they care about their families as crash test data on the Tundra is a real reason to skip it for something new. Give me one substantial reason for the need of more than a 6 speed auto transmission. The competition has 8 and 10. In a few years they'll market 12 and 15. It's like razors how many blades do you need for a close shave ? Eventually it all becomes redundant.
@TestDrivenTV
@TestDrivenTV 5 лет назад
People said, "Why do you need more than three gears" in the 1970's. People said, "why do you need more than four gears" in the 1980's. The reason more gears is because it enables the engine to live in the sweet spot more often during your driving cycle, offering more power on demand and more efficiency by having a wider band of gear ratios. That is the why for more gears.
@TestDrivenTV
@TestDrivenTV 5 лет назад
@Mary Boychuk In your opinion. Engineers and product planners however disagree. The next redesigned Tundra will have at least 8 gears and likely 10.
@jkamer2168
@jkamer2168 5 лет назад
@Mary Boychuk You could't be more wrong if you tried.
@TestDrivenTV
@TestDrivenTV 5 лет назад
More gears = wider gear ratio spread and aforementioned benefits. This = better fuel economy results to help the truck meet CAFE standards in EPA standard testing procedures. This also = better drivability as while the powerband might be "broad", better response comes from not having to mash the throttle through a flat spot. If a transmission is properly designed and tuned, there is no incessant hunting for gears.

Yup! Though you state it’s still a 6 sos tranny, I’ll go for quality, reliability, and the ability to endure. The mileage? Meh! If that’s a concern get a Prius. These new turbocharged trucks, oh please with peoples’ bad habit of park and cut-off, them spools are still spinning without oil pressure. The diesels are overpriced, and now you got a tank where you pour in synthetically produced urine mixed with distilled water, that’s right DEF is urea (urine) and the services are well... like the option pricy! A Toyota Limited fully loaded with 4x4 and sunroof is about $4k to $7.5k less than most Ford F-150 Lariat, then again that could be due to “gadgets”, specially those for people that can’t back up a trailer or even the mundane task to parallel park.

@guy proulx Consumer Reports doesn't put the Tundra on top in their rankings. It is actually 3rd ranked amojngst full size pickups. Truedelta has the quarterly repair rate at 15-30 repairs per 100 for the current generation. It is the same for the Ford F-150 and Silverado. The Silverado topped the Tundra with a score of 85 out of 100, while the Tundra only mustered a 81. As far as costs you cannot get a discount like you can on a domestic truck vs a Tundra. The prices are not even close. When you factor in sales there is a reason people who use their truck as designed pick the best built and lowest cost to own domestic brands.

That truck is a rolling dinosaur. You put the same truck from 2014 and 2019 next to each other and nobody can tell the difference and the fuel consumption is insane...14mpg?!? At $47,000? Jeez did they market this vehicle for people who has deep pockets? Toyota brand does matter to me, I would not touch this truck with a 10 foot pole...if I did it would feel like the movie The Mummy when the guy had his body sucked out while the bald guy kept growing younger😂😂😂 and if people look at resale value right away then why buy it? People should be looking at cars to own for 6-10 years, not to sell it after 4 years, what a waste of time and money. There is a reason why Ford sells close a million trucks a year while Toyota barely sells 50,000 because companies like Ford innovative and build better engines, frames, and chasis for everyone to help them save money at the pump and more powerful engines with less fuel consumption.
