At USA Archery's 2019 U.S. Open, John Demmer III and John Dillinger go head to head for senior Barebow men's gold in Dublin, OH. Coverage by Competition Archery Media
I think that it is a, culturally speaking, a very good and educated social level... people practicing this hobby/sport are very cool and usually nice all over the world, any country You go...., that is Great !!!
I am lucky, being new to barebow target shooting, I really have never watched target archery. So all these reels are like Christmas to me. This was a great match but I am a Team Demmer guy, so I really love when John III wins. BAREBOW!! 🏹🏹🏹
I used to go straight to my bow when I got home from work. One arrow at 25 yards. Retrieve, repeat. After an hour I was ready to enter the house in a proper mood. It was a compound. Don't hate me.
I love bare bow. Harder than it looks. I’m shooting 100 feet now with varying results. Lots of fun. Quite challenging. When I hit good I get very excited.
Think Demmer is around 36-40lb from what I read from one of the forums he's on- But im thinking the same. Im at 42lb, shot at 50yds today and I was aiming over the boss to get a hit. Then shot at 30yds and my crawl had moved up by two whole points on my yost tab from my 20yd (which is insane) Seems like my point on is around 35-40 yds Easton acc's at 620 spine Cheers
@Howard Pearcey lmao yeah. Hate archers who uses sights and other fancy toys attached to their bow. Our ancestors who uses pure barebow thousands years ago and went war without any fancy toys on their bows must be ashamed looking at them archers.
It seems 35 to 50 #’s. I’m new to it and using a 45 pound draw weight. I may have been better off starting with 35 pounds. The heavier draw weights will wear most people out. Lots of sore muscles for me when I started.
USA Archery how do I sign up. Didn’t know this exists I shoot this range and farther all the time with a plain super magnum 48” Can’t imagine how easy it would be with the bows they are using
@@rickyphillips1764 Awesome, we'd love to have you at an event! You can find our events calendar here: www.usarchery.org/events/find-an-event You'll need to be a USA Archery member and you can learn more about membership here: www.usarchery.org/memberships/become-a-member
They would need to create a consolidated set of rules, have every body agree to them, then convince the IOC to add another event. That is a difficult path, personally i would like to see a traditional field style event as that would add an even more unique event. Many good arguments to be made on setting definitions, which is why i don't see this happening. As an example, i have zero issue with string walking as that is part of traditional shooting as i see it....oh but to be truly trad the bow must not have a shelf...to allow nok or not to allow nok that is the true question!
I've recently been trying barebow and looked into the subject... They set up their tabs and crawl so their point on is their max distance at against their nock... Makes it more consistent... They would then have different crawls down the string for closer distances as they would shoot 5-50 yards field courses
@@jackjr1 apologies their point on is always at their crawl... So their crawl at the longest distance is right up at their nock.... They would then drop down an amount for their indoor shoots like Lancaster... But still use the point to aim They would through practice know how many stitches or marks on their tab they need to crawl What you're missing is that you don't need to move your crawl large amount at single distance tournaments.... All the shots at this round would be the same distance so no need to change your crawl like in a field shoot You would then want to have your hand position in the most consistent place possible... Right up at the nock
Not really. String walking is kind of using sight. You draw back the string under the arrow in different place for different distance that is marked on the finger tab. If you don't have consistent form, you can't shoot accurately whether it's traditional/barebow/target recurve/compound whatever.
This is about as boring as 501 darts. Make a game out of it. Hit circles with scores and ways to cancel out hits. Shooting at the center all day puts me sleep!
Mystery to me how Dillinger is so good with such terrible form. Unwatchable hideous dead release. Should he watch a few Kaminski barebow videos? Probably not!!..
@@TracyPicabia Maybe he's just really nice and wants everyone else to have a chance lol. No but seriously, maybe you're right, would be interesting to put it to the test and see the results.
