That’s a North American spec passat. It looks like a Euro passat, but its 25% bigger for oversized Americans.The only good thing about this watered down version is the EA 888 TSI engine and the aisin/ toyota built 6 speed automatic. It’s also very reasonably priced, you can get a turbo s version for about 23,000 dollars

I own one (shipped to Europe) and trust me, the Japan Aisin gearbox is not a good thing about this passat. :D But the space in the backseats is tremendous.

It's the currently american model. You also can see the license plate support is made for USA... I really don't think american Passat is ugly, but just different 🤷

because it's built on old passat b7 platform with ancient 6 speed gearbox. Americans love old technologies from stone age. They installed 3 speed gearbox on dodge caravan till 2002, and to compensate it's slowness, put extra 2 liters of engine volume.
