The US version doesn't have the DSG, and 0-60 time (or 0-100kph if you prefer) is slower. Still plenty fast for me. I loved my hatchback Merkur Scorpio, which led to my purchase of a 2019 Arteon (SEL Premium R-line).
In October 23, I purchased a 22 SEL Arteon in blue. I tried Audi Q3 and Q5, Volvo XC60, and BMW X1. The VW was clearly a better drive than any others and had more boot space than both Audi's and the most rear leg room of any. It was a compacy car with 7K miles so it came certified with more than a year longer warranty than a new one and I save 7K.
@ericj305 Your claim that sedans are "ever expanding" is an odd one. The Arteon is 191" long. That's the length of a number of shorter so-called midsize two row crossovers such as the Passport and much shorter than the average 3 row midsize crossover. (The Mazda CX-9 is 199" long.)
Just for the fact that you are trying to get people to see that crossovers and SUV's are not the only option you just got a new sub to the channel. If I wasn't about to pick up the bill for my son's college this car would be replacing my 2013 VW Passat SE.
I prefer the old school power outlet in the back seat, much more usable. You can use a USB adapter, or any standard 12V style plug for power converters, air compressors, etc..
Weiter so!
Most Americans would. No doubt about that. But the Stinger is an imitation (and a good one) of a European GT. The Arteon is the actual article designed for high speed travel in comfort rather than 0-60 acceleration.
@@skagerstrom... Sure a (euro) passat wagon works too, but vw needs some flair in the wagon dept and an Arteon wagon makes a good argument... Of course, a golf.:R sportwagon makes a great argument against crossovers, but we don't get them in the states...
Or the Skoda Superb, which is not available in the U.S - I love the Superb design - it looks very sedan like, but has hatch-back practicality, and more rear head room than the Arteon. Same underlying platform. I was considering the Superb for use as a limo, but it seemed to let in too much noise (road rumble etc). Haven't driven the Arteon yet.
Put the 2.9 V6 turbo out of the Audi RS5 in one trim of the Arteon, and give it a rear wheel driving bias.....ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1ZIgtoV8H80.html
Agreed. I would have taken a look at the Arteon but with the delays I ended up in a Regal GS. Its a Buick that doesn't handle like a Buick. Because its an Opel.
@Steven Strain It just seems ridiculous that if they use the EA888 engine from the Golf R that they at least keep it at the horsepower values - especially since the Golf is a lighter vehicle. As far as price point, the engine HP is just a tune - no real physical bits, right? So maybe it's all about maintaining the perceived value of the Audi brand and to minimize overlap/cannibalization.
@Steven Strain Indeed, I went to Neuspeed for updated air intake and engine chip (+$800) to get around 300HP out of my '16 GTI when it only had a few thousand miles on it. By 25K miles the stock clutch stopped participating and upgraded it to a single mass flywheel racing clutch (+$1200 installed)....but three years later and nearly 90K miles and it's been otherwise a very good vehicle. A very fast vehicle. 3000lbs with 300HP and a racing clutch is non-stop fun :)
@Steven Strain Doesn't square at all with my experience with a Stage I tuned GTI. Substantial power increase with a very small (1-2 mpg) penalty in terms of fuel efficiency. Put 30K miles on the tuned engine before trading the car without a single issue.
Got a 19' Arteon back in the Spring of last year. Coming out of a Mk 7.5 GTI and wanting AWD but not wanting to wait on the Mk8 R. APR tuned within 1k mi, now at 360hp/360tq. SEL-R Line w/ 4Motion, with the tune, under 38k. It's beautiful (white, black 20s, 2-tone gray leather), quick, and huge with the sport back. Only thing I wish I had was a power lift gate (no biggie) and a DSG. You have to shift early in manual mode to extract performance with the lazy auto.
I have a Samsung 8+, as well and have NEVER had a problem with it in either my GTI. I do recall have to re-pair it once or twice with my KIA Sorento, but it was a very rare experience.
Hi MotorMan, honestly, I love your options game segment. I always crack up. Please keep them coming lol. Your segment with the New GLE still cracks me up till date!
In my VW Golf Mk 7, it alway's recognises my iPhone, even when my son pairs his iPhone. So, he changes the iPhone to his, and when we gat back in the car, it pairs with mine, even thouhgh his was the last phone that it partnered with.
headcas620 check out the Passat GT, might be closer to what your looking for. Not sure why they didn’t put a version of that engine into the Arteon? It needs more power for sure.
VW has been burned repeatedly trying to sell models designed to appeal to European tastes in the US. European Passats and Tiguans were both redesigned for American tastes to boost sales, and the well regarded but expensive Touareg was replaced by the Atlas, a vehicle built in the US and not sold in Germany. Neither is VW's best selling US model, the Jetta. Even the US version of the GTI is offered with fewer features at a substantially lower price than in Europe. (A fully loaded Autobahn trim DSG GTI has an MSRP of over $50,000 in Germany.) The bottom line is that American compared to Europeans want larger, cheaper vehicles and resist seeing VW as a premium brand. But there is another, more subtle but important difference in the US. Though the crossover/SUV craze is worldwide, Europeans still value true GT's, i.e. vehicles designed for roads that have been in existence for hundreds of years snaking through rural areas and in towns and cities where the idea of destroying buildings built 500 years ago to accommodate a freeway is heresy. And the freeways on which Europeans drive are often well maintained and designed for vehicles traveling well in excess of 100 mph. "Performance" to Americans often begins and ends with 0-60 acceleration. To Europeans it means a car that can sustain triple digit mph's in comfort for hours at a time and follow rural roads that respect ancient boundaries among farms. With all that in mind VW doesn't expect to sell many Arteons in the US even though it's been on sale internationally for almost two years and sells very well in Europe. My local (relatively high volume) VW dealer in the Seattle metro area expects to receive as few as two and no more than five Arteons for the remainder of 2019. Its most obvious rival, the KIA Stinger, will undoubtedly outsell it if for no other reason than KIA will export far more Stingers to the US. But for those who value European driving dynamics and the premium feel of a roomy European GT, a fully loaded top trim SEL version with an MSRP less than $48K is an appealing alternative to a Stinger, much less a BMW, Audi, or Mercedes at thousands more.
Interesting comment about phone integration. I have a 2018 Alltrack SE and have no problems with Android Auto integration. It's worked perfectly since day one.
With respect to iOS/CarPlay integration and the car not recognizing it... I’ve learned that you have to wait frontage head unit to fully “boot” before connecting your device. Haven’t had an issue since I started doing that.
I don't care what anyone says. I'll take a 12v over any USB (even C). USB standards and form factors will change in the future. If you only have a USB port you'll be stuck with dongles and old charging rates. With a 12v, get the adapter you need for the application you want. It also scales up as technology moves forward.
I had a 2019 Passat which had the same problem with the phone integration. I’m so glad you went into that because I went through three phones trying to get that system to work. It was a bummer, so I bought an SUV - lol. This is very nice ride but that glitch is a major drawback.
Nice review as always, but what I concerns about all VW cars, frankly speaking, cars in general and I do care, is the IIHS car ratings which is relatively poor headlights or marginal for the most of VW cars except the crash test ratings. So I hope if you point out this part in your reviews because I am keen to listen to your opinion in this case. I’m also wondering if we can increase folks awareness to the safety features and options that manufacturers should add to their products 🙏
u know u are dang right on the need and logic for ppl to consider this type of car when looking at full Cuv/suv body types: if these sloping rear window Cuv's would also have some device to protect that rear window for when car is fully loaded in back, that might push a few buyers toward them as well, since the rear window may be a bit vulnerable to breakage when loading, or ppl will unconsciously imagine that it is.
With respect to your comment on 'utility', perhaps they should make more sedans, hatchbacks? I wonder how this would work out in terms of form. Would we be trading one aesthetic problem for another? At least it wouldn't be an SUV though, heh.
Lots of youngsters on here me thinks - SUV are better when you are riddled with Arthritis (ie getting 'down' into a car can be painful) - not all people are young - supple and agile......
No youngster here. And there's a KIA Sorento sitting in my garage. But there's also a tuned GTI and I've driven the Arteon. Entering/exiting the GTI calls for a little pain once in a while depending on the weather but the Arteon (and Passat) wouldn't do so.
I see VW now has wireless CarPlay in new passatt amongst others. Hopefully that version has improved things AND has turn directions etc on driver display when nav with Apple maps etc.
MotoMan, Can you help me to solve a problem?. I have 4 door sedan. but the problem is . I cant load big items.,, I get stuck in the snow, My head hits the roof all the time, visibility is reduced, I don't have enough room when I go on trips, cant really tow , I cant just sleep in it whenever I want and most importantly I 'm not a race car driver or like to pretend I am. Can you recommend a good vehicle for me.?
I'm renting a Macan Turbo this weekend, and I must say the cRoSsOvEr makes a case for itself in that form. But I can't imagine a normal hatchback version of it being any worse other than off road. Granted the Macan Turbo is a well sorted machine as it sits, but it makes you wonder what could have been. That said, I don't see myself owning a crossover. I got lucky in that my wife hates them, and I like driving cars that sit lower to the ground in general. Why add extra drag and weight to a car unless you really need the ground clearance? Good points, Motoman.
An interesting comparison would be an Arteon (Top Spec) vs A5 Sportback (Premium Plus)? I was toying with the configs between the two and there really doesn't seem to be much price difference between them. The A5 has virtual cockpit and a few toys no available on the VW, but the VW similar has a few toys.
Great take and I agree with pretty much everything you said. SUVs will unfortunately continue to outsell all other segments whether they are being utilized in their intended purpose or not. Even our house has one, and I’m not an SUV fan. We also have a wagon and a sports car but the SUV’s ground clearance makes it more useable in deep snow. Plus we can put the dogs and stroller in the back and all that.
So after you discovered the bug on the phone pairing, did you let them know about that glitch? it is not something that we can test in a test drive. Did VW say anything?
What really bothers me about the VW is the fact that the interior looks only mildly different than the 2006 Passat, the gear shifter surround even on the fully loaded SEL Premium is full of blank buttons, there's no heads-up display, the engine is a little underpowered for such a heavy car with GT looks, it costs as much as a Tesla Model 3 but will never get better with software updates, the fuel economy is pretty poor and the front looks garish.
Stephen Hendricks Our 2014 NMS 1.8t Passat had an accident almost identical to the one TFL had in the same place, but not as severe. It took a month and a half to repair (shop didn't break things), and cost over $6000 to fix. It didn't have any sort of sensors in the bumper, a charge port or LED taillights to replace. The Arteon is made in Germany so parts would likely be far more expensive than bargain basement US-built Passat parts and would likely require longer to fix as parts are only going to be available in small numbers since it's going to be such a niche vehicle in the US. Considering the shop breaking not one, but two windows the $10,000 repair bill on a brand new luxury car wasn't that high considering my experience with the Passat or even a Honda Accord. My Accord's front windshield cost about $1200 plus $300 for sensor calibration.
Scott Thompson the front end on that Arteon is certainly garish with its big chrome opening. VW can barely give these Arteons away. They are selling even less of them than they did CC. I don’t understand why they decided to screw the US out of the higher performing engine, DSG, heads up display, etc. You are clearly an Arteon owner or you must want one if it’s offended you so dearly.
F C LOL. Not offended. Merely commented that styling is like art, it is individual perception. You prefer a range limited electric car with what I consider one of the ugliest designs for a front end in the history of automotive design over a lauded (journalists that do automotive reviews for a living) design in the Arteon. I am the counter-point to your opinion. I dislike the 3 so much that I would NOT go to a review site on it and slag on it. THAT makes me wonder if you have an agenda/bias. You hate the Arteon. I love it. We are both entitled to our own opinion. Chances of me buying an Arteon at MY price point: 100%. Chances of my even considering purchasing a non-all wheel drive electric range limited aesthetics challenged (boring/fugly) 3: 0%
Talking about brand new 2019 automobiles with 5 doors and a curvy exterior design language. Mr. Dave Coleman would like me to assure you that my 2019 Mazda 3 hatch with AWD in Polymetal grey also comes with Apple Car Play & Android Auto. And after 4000+ miles on the odometer. The new infotainment system in that Mazda 3, with Apple Car Play, has worked flawlessly each and every day. Oh yeah, one more thing, and it also comes equipped with real leather seats 😉.
Agreed! I would rather have a car like this than a crossover. Let’s face it, with Amazon and big box store offering delivery of pretty much anything to our homes or offices, Do all of us need to plod around in a box on wheels?
Very good point Carl, however I don't feel we are entirely there. There are errands/projects that I put off until the weeks I know that I have a car like this.
@@MotoManTV I definitely see your point. In my own circumstance, I have a crossover because I have 3 dogs, all resuces. A German Shepheard named Loki, a black Lab Boxer mix named Onyx and a Beagle named Freya.
@@MotoManTV PS Thank you for taking an analytical approch to your reviews. As a bit of a car geek myself, I really enjoy the way you put a vehicle through its' paces, but keeping in mind the vehicles intended mission. BIG fan!!!
... Like a $55k Supra? A $50k 3 Series or S60R design. Is the value you speak of now or at trade in that has you concerned? Is an Avalon XSE more your speed?
VW is unwilling to "give" Americans European versions of their vehicles. They've tried to do so and found that Americans won't actually pay for them. A fully loaded top trim version of the GTI (Autobahn w/DSG) sells in Europe for somewhat over $50,000 at current exchange rates. More power, a digital cockpit, dual injection (the result of government emission requirements) as well as configurations that allow a buyer to pick and choose individual options rather than settle for a few predetermined trim packages. VW has found to its pain that Americans won't pay for that approach.
@@attocoulomb Undoubtedly a better car. And VW more than tripled its sales of Passats when the introduced the larger American version with less content at a lower price. Can't imagine why they decided to do that. :)
MotoMan, am I just being a fanboi or ; to me the most obvious direct competitor to the Arteon is the Stinger Premium AWD? Maybe for the one you were assigned the Stinger Base AWD. I don’t think the VW has more than a 4cyl. option. Though for the price it’s encroaching on the Stinger GT but that’s not truly fair. I agree it’s a nice looking car. It’s not they atypical slab sided VW. ie. Jetta and Passat.
Both the Stinger and the Arteon are fine cars. (And I'm a fan of both KIA and VW. I own a KIA Sorento and a GTI.) But despite their similarities the Stinger and Arteon are somewhat different vehicles with different strengths. The Stinger is an American interpretation of a European GT. (And a good one.) But the Arteon IS a European GT meant for twisting roads that have been in place for a thousand years and well maintained highways that support 100+ mph for hours on end. I've driven both the 4 cylinder and the V6 Stinger. And while the 4 banger is adequate, it's nowhere near as satisfying to drive as the Arteon. The twin scroll V6 Stinger will certainly bury an Arteon on a dragstrip but that's not the intended mission of a GT.
Stephen Hendricks Drove the Arteon. You can talk all damn day about the HP being adequate, but it IS underpowered for a vehicle of it’s weight. The power is ONLY adequate when it should be IMPRESSIVE in a flagship vehicle. That’s a FAIL VW... VW will “hit” the I want to be different crowd, but they will MISS the performance minded GT crowd. On ramps and passing power matter.
Not going to get one in the US. For some reason VW would rather not have unsold vehicles sitting on dealer lots until they're finally sold at substantial discounts.
@@scottthompson5855 - It is too costly to certify the transmission if they know they are going to sell. We have two problems, an overactive government band people with bad taste.
@motomantv the price of this car is really confusing. 38k??!? So I have a 2018 Mazda 6 GT turbo. You know what comes in that car. It has a lot of features this car does but it was 10k less. Is AWD, selectable driver modes, and a lift gate worth 10k more?!
To confirm . . . You have a Mazda SIX GT Turbo? Not a Three? They start at US$29,500 and can quickly reach this VW Arteon. In fact, the Mazda 6 Turbo we drove was almost exactly the same price as this VW: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mk0-rZF70BI.html
CHRIS! Why am I not surprised you would vote that way:) And as you could imagine, Kumo and I could not get this (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xssVSI2-z2g.html) out of our heads the entire time. Yes, the Arteon is far more attractive and I feel a better interpretation of this theme. However, from a driving perspective, the Kia.
I’m sorry Motoman, as pretty as this thing is (which is very pretty), it still has got nothing on my RAV4. It has significantly better practicality, spaciousness, even a more interesting interior (rubber knobs!). The upper trims of this car gets into luxury SUV territory and it just isn’t a better buy than the SUVs
LOL. You try and keep up with me on a twisty road or interstate in your Rav buddy. Face palm. COMPLETELY different vehicles...Arteon has the utility and all wheel drive plus driving dynamics and beauty. Your comment is ignorant...
I agree about SUVs, but I think that sedans are just as bad because of their impractical trunk space and generally bad rear visibility. Wagons and hatchbacks are the best. So the Arteon doesn't allow the back seats to be put down?
Agreed, I love my golf.. its has great cargo capacity, I actually fit a whole other golf hatch inside my car, not to mention that it gets 47mpg and it's relatively quick
That R line would be better to play options game with. So is this the replacement for the Passat CC or for the Phaeton? They seem to sell them like hot cakes here in Europe but for me it is just a little fancier Passat. Not enough to diversify it from Passat and put it in the E class teritory. The estate car beats the suv for me. The current Volvo estate, especially V90, is just wonderful and huge. Oh and just a heads up on VW, the rear brake discs are prone to rusting and are beeing changed under waranty here in Europe. They say that the material from which they are made of is of unsatisfactory quality. Nicht gut on an 35k car!
1. It is not as practical as any "good" SUV, but is is close. 2. Why there are no Japanese liftbacks on the market? Come on! 3. DSG is often problematic long term. VW did a good decision of standard AT. 4. This might be one of the best reasonably priced sedan.
To your point two . . . I agree, a HUGE blindspot for Lexus especially. I get it that Asia is not a big 5 door sedan market but most Japanese OEMs are VERY good at creating products for local markets. Here's one example of an Asian OEM's interpretation: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xssVSI2-z2g.html
Nice car however I rather the Buick regalGS because much cheaper and V6 big rebates. This VW is price close to A4 or BMW 3. Also if you leAse this car it will cost more than average C class
Regarding the "step out of your suv's" topic- i think the main thing is to be happy. If they're happy in their suvs, they make their daily driving easier- its ok. I do not think handling should be so importand in cars nowadays, i think they should be softer, with higher suspension travel. Speed limits decrease, fines increase. Leave the agility to sunday cars.
I love your channel; I am a "car guy" and my wife who is not into cars viewed this video she found it very funny; when she heard your observation regarding a car that costs almost 40K with no leather told me about a scene in an Albert Brooks; the scene is called "Mercedes leather." I had not seen it; here you go; hope it provides a fraction of the pleasure I have been getting from your channel over the years. It doesn't come with leather? No... you have to add it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MXrsow9ORaM.html
The MSRP under $40K is an enticement to draw those considering a top trim Accord or Camry into VW showrooms. You'll probably find that the only unit in that configuration was "sold yesterday" when you visit the dealer. It's a common pricing tactic among European brands. The real world price of the Arteon is the SEL 4Motion version around $45K , or so. And among its numerous upgrades, it comes with leather upholstery standard.
Jacob Rael It’s a Vdub Rael. Pretentious? LOL...Not knowing an upgrade in quality (Arteon over Impala is just jackassery...I know a Vdub is not an Audi...Face palm in your general direction.
What kind of hersey is this? An Options Game contender with zero dollars worth of options?!! That is unacceptable, someone get VW of America CEO on the phone . . . ;) Gotta give it to VW on this one, they did a good job with the Arteon. I'm with you on the colors things, it definitely needs bright vibrant colors to make it pop. That said, I'm not a fan of that Kuruma yellow your friend got, it reminds me of the early 00s Chevy Lumina SS. It had a very similar color, it didn't age well at all ... As always, excellent work, M.
A TORQUE CONVERTER IS VASTLY MORE RELIABLE AND THE PERFORMANCE ISN'T REALLY BETTER. DO YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH A CLUTCH REPLACEMENT IS? ALSO, CLUTCHES ARE EXPENDABLE/WEAR ITEM, THAT IS NOT WARRANTED!!!!! TQ ANY DAY.
You're comparing a torque converter automatic to a manual transmission. The VW DSG is extremely reliable and durable and over 30K miles with a Stage I tuned DSG GTI, I never experienced any clutch slip, at all. PS. You don't have to shout.
I want 400 + horsepower and rear wheel / AWD drive . My 2005 v8 Touareg May get 18-20 mpg, but the air suspension, room and overall weight and comfort beat these modern VW offerings. And it has a (8) in lift plus 4WD AND POSI TRACK TOO. ATLAS? WITH A V6? I’ll take a nice slightly used 2018 YUKON 4WD 6.2 L with power and room to spare...UNLESS YOU GIVE US BACK OUR TOUAREG, THE LAST VW NOW WITH A TURBO V8 DIESEL . WHERE? IN CHINA FOR GODS SAKE....AND THE FATHERLAND OF COURSE...BUT NOT HERE IN U.S. , THE AAAATLAS...FOR MOMS. GOSH VW, DID YOUR BA__S DROP OFF?
You might want to compare the sales of the Atlas vs the Touareg in the US to understand why that excellent vehicle has been replaced with the Atlas here. I feel your pain not just regarding the Touareg but with the Tiguan and the European Passat, as well. But put the blame where it belongs. Americans want bigger, cheaper vehicles and are more than willing to sacrifices other features and capabilities for price and size.
I owned a Touareg. What a heavy machine. ATE tires (19”) because of weight. The rear storage (without seats folded) was a joke. A nice riding good looking vehicle (V6), but flawed in a LOT of ways.
Again, it may get 18-30 mpg but my 2005 Gen 1 Touareg is very expensive to fix, complicated , overbuilt and uniquely applicable to all situations beyond any other SUV , ( up to 8 in suspension range) has 19in custom wheels a great real skid plate and a v8 engine with AWD, 4 WD, POSI- TRACK to pull you out of almost anything . All in a timeless design that’s now (14) years old. That’s all I wanted to say, I’m sure it has a limited market ,um..sure. That’s why VW has a v8 turbodiesel new Touareg running all over the rest of the world.
Keep trying to bury SUVs brother, we'll get there. As for roads though, forget that, maybe the rise in the popularity of SUVs was a subconscious acknowledgement that the West is going to collapse and with that economic and social collapse so too will go the tax base that supports the production and maintenance of roads. So people are being spiritually drawn to high ground clearance and big tyres. Heh, just a theory.
Not a bad one. The Europeans who purchase cars (and many rely instead on superior mass transit) value vehicles that can be driven in comfort on roads with three digit speed limits (in mph's.) Such roads depend on a popular willingness to maintain them.
Stephen Hendricks P.S. and soon a Boss 302 because 444 HP through a six speed makes a sound that no Porsche or BMW can replicate. Enjoy that 2 liter turbo though. You strike me as an electric guy. Enjoy those too. ICE is nice...
Yes, a mustang. Those modern reinterpretations of American muscle cars i wasn't too sure about, but they've hung around and the companies seem reasonably committed to the segment and have made some fine cars from the perspective of power and road presence, oh yeah, they sound pretty sweet too.
Having owned a number of German cars motorcycles over the years I've learned that my role is to accept what's offered with gratitude and understand that my European overlords know better than I what is required. :)
The KIA is an impressive vehicle. I've driven several and I own a KIA Sorento. I'm a fan of the brand. But while it offers an interpretation of a European GT sedan for many Americans, it is still an imitation of that design compared to the Arteon.
As you may have seen, I am a BIG fan of the GLI (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h2hdp0l_JU4.html), but a very different kettle of fish. That said, if you said I could only pick one: It would be the GLI.
Very different vehicles. The GLI is not even sold in Germany and VW doesn't expect the Arteon to be a big seller in the US. It's an image vehicle for VW here.
I have owned 5 Vdubs including the CC. My CC had a manual. I would seriously consider the Arteon with a manual tranny, but the lack of one as an option is a massive FAIL. Give me the manual VW.
SUVS are going to loose popularity, 7/10 SUVS are driven by a grandparent which is not a good look for them. For should have never sold sedans and cars down the river cause they will get their popularity back.
Could not agree more. Sadly, that is the only car in MotoManTV Studio A that is not ours. We are gracefully 'storing' for a friend - hoping he is kind enough to let us feature it . . .

@Hans were I willing to settle for pedestrian 2.0t power I'd definitely rather have it in a Audi than a VDub. But pedestrian power in a flagship vehicle doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If Kia only offered the 2.0t in the Stinger, that would be a sad joke. That's what VW has done here.
