Just replaced my former boss’s battery on his ski. He bought it new about 14 years ago and it was the original battery. I was shocked. We live in NE Indiana and he pulls the battery in the winter and it’s on a battery tender. And here I am doing like you almost and swap out at 5 years. lol I store ours in our heated hanger.

Any idea on how to lube the jet pump bearing with grease on the EX? I can’t find a grease fitting on mine

You have to pull it apart. You need to take the impeller off to get to it.

So none the steering is slightly stiff but everything feels fine on the steering nozzle and linkage wondering if there’s somewhere to grease the actual steering column area

Great vid, thanks for the steps! Curious: Does the EX sport recommend lubrication to the steering cable/trim Rod? Also, the intermediate housing? If so, have you ever done it, got any tips? A vid coming? (lol) Thanks anyways for this vid, helped to understand my gp1800's throttle body lube

So I have a 2018 Ex. Are you saying I don’t have to do the RV anti freeze to winterize? I thgt you had to pump it in until you see the antifreeze come out of the back.

I personally do not put RV antifreeze in my Waverunner. If you can give it 30 days before a hard freeze to fully dry out, you shouldn't need to. Thanks for watching and commenting!

if water has collected in the water separator ,drain it by loosening the drain screw to drain water from the water separator place a drain pan or dry cloth under the water seperator Gradually loosen the drain screw to drain the water Catch the draining water in th drain pan or soak it up with the dry cloth so that it does not spill into the engine compartment if any water spills into the watercraft be sure to wipe it up with a dry cloth Securly tighten the drain screw until it stops

I actually just bought the same ski. So, for winterization, you're saying that it's best to spray the Yamaha lubricant in the throttle body and just try to make sure all of the water gets out of the system. Is there any way to make absolutely sure there's no water remaining? Thanks

If you're really worried about you can fit a 5 gallon bucket with a hose tap (www.amazon.com/Brass-Spigot-Barrel-Faucet-Water/dp/B09QYNS25L/ref=asc_df_B09QYNS25L/) and then fill it with a couple of gallons of RV/Boat antifreeze (www.walmart.com/ip/Super-Tech-RV-and-Marine-Antifreeze-1-Gallon/17179674). Then connect it to the flush port on the Waverunner with a short hose and run the machine until the bucket is empty. That will replace any water with antifreeze. Otherwise 30 days above freezing temperatures has always dried it out well enough for me given the climate where I live. Thanks for watching!

If you're in the new England area use antifreeze. Don't leave anything to chance. I'm sure he means we'll but I'd never let airdry as there's no such thing as air dry in a closed system. These machines aren't cheap. Antifreeze if you're a new Englander

Hello Andy do I need to fog the engine if I store it in a garage? Also - do I need to remove the battery and trickle charge it over the winter? Thanks

You can fog the engine, but if you are storing it in the garage, I think it will be just fine without fogging. It is a good idea to put a charger on the battery a few times during the winter, but it doesn’t need a constant trickle charge.

Ok thank you. I did it today and it worked great. Oil change worked out great as well (today) and the first time I did it for the 10 hour at the beginning of summer. When I sprayed into the throttle body the engine sort of sputtered and almost died. Is that normal? I assume it is. Thanks for all of your help! You have the best videos for this type of stuff on RU-vid. Made my summer a blast!

Also- do you recommend I re add a zip tie to the hose that had one when taking off the filter? I think you ran into this during your video. Looks like they had a zip tie that attached the filter cover to a hose.

I read in my manual(FX)That the anode should be checked @200 hrs..any idea how to do that? I'm guessing its on the pump, but not sure..

Should the battery be left connected all winter?

It depends on the climate where you live. If the winters are mild, leaving the battery in should be fine. If maximum battery life is your goal, then the best approach is to bring the battery into a garage and put a trickle charger on it. The winters are mild around where I live, so leaving the battery in and going out and putting a charger on it a couple of times throughout the winter works well. As I said in the video, I automatically replace mine preemptively every two years. Getting stuck out on the water with a bad battery is no fun, and I know this sadly from personal experience. 😊 Thanks for watching and commenting!

Unconnect it. There can be a small draw, which will drain the power. Batteries go bad when they are stored dead.

Just purchased a 2018!ex sport but I don’t have a manual. WhTs the proper way to check the oil???. I noticed when it’s been sitting I don’t see anything on the stick and now I just took it out for 20 min and checked it right away and I can actually see the oil when I pull the stick out. Help pls.

Correct, it lubricates parts of the throttle body. If you are trying to fog it, removing the sparks plugs and spraying the fogging oil into the cylinders is the way to go. Thanks for watching.
