Those long in depth videos are great to watch. Keep ‘em coming. Very educational and fun to watch. Even though most of us here already know how to change our own oil….still great to watch.
That’s more involved than the GT or Ecoboost but not too bad. My 1999 F350 with the 7.3 diesel takes 15 quarts and then about a half quart for the HPOP. Siphoning the old oil out of the HPOP is the tedious part. Good video 👍
The "best" oil is always a touchy subject. You have facts through testing and then you have opinion. The GT500 in the video is tracked multiple times a year and it gets Motorcraft oil. Granted, we haven't sent an oil sample to a testing lab for evaluation, so I can't tell you any information related to wear. Hope this helps. -Landan
A lot of folks like Amsoil oil and like it. I've never used it so I can't give my experience. All these years, I've had great luck with either Mobil 1 full synthetic or Motorcraft with good oil analysis. 5w-30 is the correct viscosity for a 2021-2023 Mach 1. -Landan
I'm sure Ford found some stuff during their research and development that made them decide on an aluminum oil pan. There isn't much info available as to why. The marketing material simply states, "A high-capacity, 11-quart oil pan mounts to the engine and dual-clutch transmission for added strength and reduced vibration. Its patented active baffling channels oil to the center sump during extreme acceleration, braking and cornering, keeping oil where it’s needed."
