An intro to my Trials bike and why I bought it. A Bit of riding footage too....don't set your expectations too high, I'm not very good on it. In fact I almost stuffed it in a deep body of water by accident.
I have been riding Trials bikes longer than street bikes.... started on a Cotton in the 70’s then to Montesa and now to a 2016 Evo250. I truly believe my Trials riding has helped me survive on the street bikes. Currently riding a 2007 Triumph Speed Triple 1050 and a 1996 Ducati 900 SS SP.
Thanks for commenting Nick, I’m sorry to say I have not ridden my evo much this year at all. I even contemplated selling it. However I’ve decided to keep it for now and will try and put some time in on it this fall.
Hello, very interesting video for me as I just bought a new Gasgas TXT300 last year to celebrate beating cancer. I'm 60 years old and I've been riding dirt bikes since 1972. My first bike was a Harley Davidson 65cc mini bike and over the years I've had several bikes. I never owned a street bike. I rode one once. My neighbor left me take his Ninja for a ride and it just scared me. I don't know if the bike itself scared me or the car drivers who seemed to aim at me like a target lol. I just didn't feel good on the road. I've raced amateur motocross in the late 70s and really wasn't any good but I had a lot of fun. And some bragging rights in high school. So like I mentioned, I owned several bikes. Mostly motocross bikes and I bought a Montesa trials bike back in 2002. That same year I went to the Honda shop just "to look" and came home with a new CR250. That almost cost me a marriage lol. She just couldn't accept 2 new bike payments and I had to sell one. I made a big mistake by selling the Montesa as I never had it long enough to really practice much. Then like you said about your YZ after I hit about 48 years old that CR didn't feel good anymore. Every ride I took just made me get a creepy bad feeling like I might need medivac. I just felt like the bike wanted to kill me! Sounds familiar right? I think it's age😢 so I sold that and didn't have a bike for years. Actually I thought my riding was history. Early last year I got a 24/7 sore throat and long story short, I was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer. I had to have my larynx removed so I can't speak anymore. It's been a year since surgery and I almost died twice in the hospital. I came home in pretty bad shape and did nothing but read and watch a lot of boring TV. I swear this true as one morning I woke up and I just wanted another trials bike! Whatever planted that idea in my head happened in my sleep. I don't know if I dreamed it or what but I asked the wife and to my great surprise she said let's go look. After what you were through you deserve something fun. So here I am with the gasser having a ball. I'm doing exactly what you do. Practice slow riding. Actually your better than me at this point. I'm still working on static balance and tight figure 8 turns. Well I'm sorry this was so long and im not a commenter but I had to share my story. Be safe and God bless you. I'm a new subscriber.
I just bought the same bike. I haven't ridden it yet, it's in my house where I am practicing my static balancing. I'm recording my progress and may post a video in the future. Hopefully you make more videos of your progress, I subscribed to see how you do. I'm looking forward to getting out for my first ride.
Thanks for commenting and subscribing. Yea, I need to get more time on it this year. The first winter I had it I was doing static balance practice in the garage, I could do 10 minutes. Spring Came, I started riding and then I could barely do 10 seconds LOL. Everyone said its easier to balance with the engine running. Not for me apparently LOL
How’s the clutch held up? Thx. Have you considered buying the “evo sport” kit from beta. Has a seat with built in extra tank. Pretty cool offering from beta that makes their trials bikes more all purpose
Hi James, thanks for watching and commenting. The clutch has been fine, no issues. I've seen the evo sport kit, but dont really have a need for it. I don't spend much time "sitting on the saddle" for the type of riding I do here. if I'm in the bush im hopping over dead fall and navigating large rocks etc. I generally don't leave my property, so i'm not riding long "trails" per say. Ive had other dirt and MX bikes (CRF230f, TTR230, YZ250F x2 ) and I find this trials style of bike seems to suit my needs much better.
@@true-moto-resto I’ve just bought a 2022 Beta Evo 300 the same as yours I’ve not ridden it yet, going out this weekend coming. I hope it doesn’t kill me lol
