Front Wheel Hops - HOW I LEARNED

I think I've watched every front wheel hopping video on RU-vid and still have difficulty. This is definitely a process with so many subset skills that are needed in order to do this so I tried to break it down in a more in-depth look as I leaned to hop over about 6 months.
This is my journey and how I learned to hop the front wheel. It might be a little different because I couldn't balance well so my technique changed over time. I actually started out rolling the bike for balance and then hopped without brakes. I think this will add value to someone at some point along their journey and hopefully can help you be able to hop the front wheel.
If you'd like to learn more about Trials Progression and see how you also can learn to front hop through a digital course, visit

I participated in a trials event last Saturday, my second time as a Sportsman, and I struggled with the turns. The turns were purposely in loose sand/dirt with loose rocks thrown in, of course as the event went on the area got chewed up even worse. When I got home I decided, it's time to forget practicing double blips and go back to balancing, that way I can incorporate using the front wheel hop to make turns. With all that said, thanks for this video and explanation, but also telling us it was a six month journey. My next event will be in August, not six months, but if I prevent getting a 5 and take a 3 because I hop a little it will be a big improvement. I do appreciate your vids.
@TrialsProgression
@TrialsProgression Год назад
Hey buddy. Thanks. 😀 However In all honesty I was focused on these hops way too soon in my journey along with some advanced obstacle riding technique stuff. I think just focusing on clutch and throttle control and turns, lots of off camber turns would be your best bet. Sportsman line should not need any hops just yet and it'll keep you focused on the skills needed for your current skill level. I've got a list of what things to learn in what order (according to me and some friends) that could be helpful to look at. It's in the curriculum learn more page on my website.

Dude !! Awesome sauce, your breakdown of learning is very helpful, for whatever reason, fronts are harder for me than rear wheel hops, especially to the left, some great little nuggets in there! I always find it more helpful watching real people riding and learning than the pros, the pro tips are good but over load, drilling is key, first two years, I just showed up and rode, now, drills and cones, and helps keep the score down and the fiasco's away!!! Keep it up!

@TrialsProgression

Those are stock oxia bars on the Scorpa bike. I've since had Renthal 673?s and s3 world team comp bars (my favoritel I liked them both but they were flatter Than stock. There is a buffalo bar that's taller you could try. After 2.5 years, finally had a pro recommend trying bar risers. I thought everyone was against it. Am using 5mm now from my Enduro bike and it's much more comfortable. Takes a while to adjust to them, but better for me. I'm 6'6" but I wouldn't recommend them for everyone.
