2020 BMW 1 Series M135i xDrive - Can this replace the M140i ? 

I am so pleased this video was able to help you make a decision on your next car and the fact you currently own a M140i is testament to how good this new car is. I really like the new design language BMW have especially the new shape kidney grill, to me it’s more aggressive and a lot more modern. If you don’t mind me asking where about did you order the new car from

@@robinhosleftfoot to be honest with Covid i’ve not driven much but for my personal needs I find the M135i to be so much more practical. I know we don’t buy these cars based on practicality alone but it is a massive part of owning a hot hatch with a young family. There are things I don’t like such as the sound of the exhaust (although its not too bad with the pops), the mediocre gearbox and mid end punch of my M140i but I find the M135i much more manageable. You can chuck it into corners and the back won’t spin you out and the acceleration is very good. Having both I do truly feel point to point the new car is slightly quicker. Thats just my thoughts but would love to hear others opinions.

I completely agree. People seem to dislike the new large kidney grills but I think they look more aggressive and so much more modern. Don’t get me wrong I like the older styling as well but just not as much

I think it is a really good car, plenty of poke and enough to have fun and not get in too much trouble.

You are bang on the money with that statement and completely agree, like I said in the video people will start to like the grills and changes and look back in 5 years and wonder what the problem was 😆. When is your car due and which country are you in 😊

@@DamoDrives Thanks! France and accordingly to the BMW Connected app it's on its way - was originally due mid of December but will probably get it around the 21st of November :)

Ben ZeKat75 mine had to come at the begining of december ! How can you know the date delivery ?

@@warcryjohn you can't, the BMW salesman told me... It's an approximative date of course (also depends on administrative stuff etc) - - congrats by the way ;)

Ben ZeKat75 I just called bmw and they said that mine will arrive at the end of november... 2 weeks before the initial schedule... Only one month before to say goodbye to my beloved M140xi 😘 Even if I know I will miss the 6L I know also that everything else will be better...

I really like the new design direction BMW are taking but it’s going to take time. You are right about the videos and pictures it looks even better and the best think to do is go and get your hands on 1. Are you thinking of getting 1 ?

MotorSport & Dream Cars I'm not sure, I have an m240 and I just think that if I went for this it would be a step backwards for me

The previous gen was more distinctive with the long bonnet but compared to its current rivals i think BMW have done a good job

Very good point so in theory waiting for a more powerful version but I would be surprised if they did. I think BMWs thinking is if you want a more powerful RWD version got for the M2 comp.The likes of the S3 are so popular at the minute so you are right they will sell a lot of them and the diesel models would be good company cars if you cannot stretch to a 3 series. I appreciate the comments and nice feedback, I enjoy driving and sharing the experiences with people 😊

Order June delivery September and with all the options I wanted and monster trade in on m140i got the car for just short of £40,000 excluding charges. Can't wait

J V thanks for the positive feedback, I think a lot of people will swap there gen 2 cars for the new models as long as they currently do not have a M140i. The M140 seems to be a very special car and the M135i does not quite have the same appeal but I could imagine a lot of customers like yourself would be more than happy with the new model and a M140 owner would have to go for an M2.

Yeah, those one’s have a lot of drama which do make those cars so interesting. I love those cars but no drama for me ;-) i prefer that 135i

Hi Anthony, sorry to say I cannot remember the exact numbers but around mid 30s but really depends on how you drive the car. At times I was getting a lot more. It’s a pretty good engine. better than the X4 M comp I had this weekend at 19MPG average 😳😳

||||upjidasoid that’s is 100% what I have been thinking more and more, it’s the M140 drivers that want something significantly quicker and more flamboyant which is not what the M135 offers them but the interior is so much better and I do like the updated shape and maybe not in the majority I prefer the large grill

Adam Kelly impossible to tell on the public road without being dangerous. For me the 135 would be a daily and most of the time driving is never that exciting and I want to just travel from A to B and arrive in comfort and the occasional blast. for normal driving it’s a superior car it’s only the occasional blast where the 140 would put a bigger smile on your face and sounds better but I would be happy in both. The roads around me over the winter are really poor and I like the security of AWD as I would not have a smile on my face as I left the road into a field 😂

I like the new shape of car and the larger grills across the range as well. Was supposed to have the new M440i but due to COVID that’s not possible which has the largest grills and was looking forward to seeing that in the fleah

Its a very difficult 1 for BMW but i supose they need to make something that will make MOST people happy but petrol heads will want the exciting bit. I have not driven a M140 yet but hopefully when things return to normal I will try.

Still waiting for the actually replacement or maybe even a proper M

The engine is actually pretty good, it’s not a 6 cylinder I know but but having driven a large number of BMW’s I would not say any of them you think “that sounds amazing” when driving.

You Thana you have the m140 due out next year with 400bhp and I think this would be an even comparison. The 1 thing which this car does not have is the new M carbon parts which look great. For me I have not owned an older BMW so the styling is not a problem

@@DamoDrives I strongly recommend to get behind the wheel of the F20 M140i. It's not a perfect car and it is not about the numbers - it crates a special feeling that doesn't have a price. 1) the might of the torque, it's there from very low rpm's, always pushes from the back and lets you feel it can destroy worlds or make you fall off the road ;-) 2) The sound, no fakery going on here. Live is live, live music - it's better when you're in the first row of the concert 3) Allows being stupid and hooliganism - you are in control. What's the point of spending so much money on a car and not have fun? Bragging about 3cm more interior space in the back or 20l boot space is something bureaucrats talk about but who of these is actually buying such an expensive car? None - they buy the Golf anyway. 4) The M140i makes the driver very awake and requires respect. You can overcook it easily with the ESP off. The rear wheels may spin in 4th gear (!!!) when the road is wet. Better be careful, it might end in a ditch when you think you're Walter Röhrl. It isn't perfect, steering feel could be better, it could even have track suspension but it's a street car and this is good because i like to travel to great driving roads in comfort. The M140i was actually a gift to the customers, a last hurra. For what it is, it was a steal when you think about the prices they were selling it.

OK. Your production quality is good but presentation is poor and who are you appealing to ? You lack credibility for an audience who buy new model cars, which this is. Slow down, take some presentational skills training and dress a bit more presentably.

Thanks for the feedback, if you watch 1 of my latest videos they are a lot better. This was over a year ago and have learnt a lot since. Just purchased a channel branded top and coat so that will appear in any new videos. In terms of audience (certainly over the past few months aiming at the every day person and the sort of questions I would be asking as an owner) feedback really is appreciated but please look at a brand new video
