The 2020 refresh of the X1 is just some minor cosmetic changes. It's essentially the same car as before. I don't think there is a clear winner here. It's subjective. If one wants a sportier looking and sportier driving crossover, get an X2. For a more traditional SUV style that is little larger but doesn't look as sporty or drive as sporty, get an X1. If one wants super high performance, there is the X2 M35i with 301 hp. That isn't an option for the X1. Personally I prefer the X2 but think that the X1 is quite nice looking as well. I test drove the X2 and was impressed. Never tested an X1. I currently drive a BMW 230i
My wife has the x1 and my coworker has the x2. The x2 is a far better buy. More practical and my wife has the M sport looking model. Better stitching on seats, nicer sporty seats, better steering, much, much nicer wheels, aggressive front and rear bumper. If you want sporty, get the M sport trim. I love it.
I’m happy with the X2. I’m 5’9 & a BMW was/is my dream car. After trying on so many BMWs, and finding out my height was the biggest issue. Fit & comfort was my final decision. If only I could find out how to get the CarPlay to operate. But I’m satisfied with just using my iPhone to listen to music. C2 has no CD player.. who knew🥺
The cabin feels so cramped in the X2, and the rear visibility severely diminished compared to the X1. I own a 2018 X1 and will be snagging the 2021 when my lease expires this year. I've loved owning it. With the white exterior, the black wheel arch panels really pop.
That's the hot color on the X1 David...you're right about the extra space and visibility of the X1 over the X2, but as you'll see in my next two BMW videos (2020 X6 M50i vs 2020 X5 M50i and 2020 X4M Comp vs 2020 X3M Comp) I'm a sucker for the snug fit of the sleeker variations...the new X1 though is super good looking
wouldn't be a bad idea to finance it. for some reason the newer x1's (2019 and up it looks like) are managing to hold their value much better than the older models and even the the X5 ironically. Take a 2022 X5 that goes for $86,000 CAD new and I just saw a 2019 Used model with around 60,000km selling for $52,000 - That's about 40% in car depreciation. 2022 X1 Sells for $52,000 and a 2019 with just under 60,000km sells for $39,000. - 25% depreciation
Why are you referring to the 2020 X1 as all new. It's just a mid-cycle refresh or "LCI" in BMW lingo. It's just some minor cosmetic changes, the main one being a larger grill. Also could you comment on the driving dynamics between the two? I've only driven an X2. What I've read elsewhere is that the X2 has sportier driving dynamics and sits a little lower. When I drove it, it was very car-like and didn't feel like an SUV or crossover. The seating position was low and sporty. I was impressed.
When are they redesigning the x series like the 2021 5 or the 2020 3 series? I was shocked the interiors looks like 2016 but i know bmw might just keep it the way it looks because x1 is reliable
I’ve just bought an X1 after comparing with the X2 and I’m so happy with it! Looks so gorgeous (I’ve got it in mineral grey) and feels absolutely stunning to drive.. the ambient lights inside make it so cool to drive at night, feels so relaxing.. I did have a drive of the X2 and it’s just too cramped.. especially if you’re pretty tall, I’m 6 foot 1 and the X1 is the perfect size, well, it’s actually big enough for someone a lot taller as there’s still a lot of head and leg room for me..

I don't know if I have any choices on a GoPro, but I'll certainly look into it. I'll tell you a little testimonial for that camera though since I've had it several years...it has filmed sharks while diving in the Great Barrier Reef, Manta Rays while diving in Hawaii, Geishas while doing things I can't mention online in Tokyo and cars pretty much all over the place without any kind of hiccup and I bought it at Costco on closeout for $100 bucks. It's just as flawed as I am but I'm really appreciative of that thing
I have and x1 but it’s currently being repaired after a minor bump. I was given an x2 as a hire car and I can tell you right now, It’s not even close when it comes to comfort. The interior feels cramped and far less luxurious even though it’s just a different shape. The drive is not that different, certainly not different enough to make me pick an x2 if I had to choose again. The boot is much smaller, I couldn’t put some of the things that I had in my x1 into it. The wheels are nicer, but that’s about the only thing I’ll miss when I get my x1 back.
The X1 looks like an SUV body on a sedan chassis.. which is exactly what it is. None of the appeal of either and just looks goody in comparison to the X2.

Euros lost most of my respect after going to turbos. Prefer their old NA motors. That’s what makes American muscle great. You can get it NA or blown. 🇺🇸👍💪🦅
Not bad for a 4 cylinder but not a sniff on what the 4G63 [that Mitsubishi put out almost 30 years ago] was capable with just a few tweaks. Beautiful cars but not for me...
The late 80's was a real high point for 4 cylinder engines...nowadays there is a renaissance in 4 cylinder power with plenty of cars getting better than 250 horsepower out of 2 liters with a single turbo...of course Honda was almost there in 2000, without the benefit of a turbo. Even the Dodge Omni GLH-S had 175 with 175 torque, in 1986...your 4G is actually still being put into BRAND NEW cars in China to this very day
