Ford: We are now making a Mustang SUV electric model Dodge: We are now to announcing the 50th Anniversary of the Dodge Challenger And they say Dodge doesn't stay true to it's heritage for making a 4 door charger? lol
@@T16-s5o Call it what you want, but dodge is still alive, unfortunately it came with a price . And if history is correct, Henry Ford was broke until the Dodge Bro's gave em a chance.
@@T16-s5o My point is that ford is losing their mind trying to copy and betray its heritage. I don't get how you can be a car enthusiast and not understand.
harley dude but the GT500 has $10,000 painted stripes, this challenger has a flat black painted hood ,badges the Shaker hood is usually quite a bit extra, real carbon fiber trim and special pipping and alcatera seating and steering wheel and gauges and special wheels, sounds like a bargain comparing what just the carbon fiber interior Pieces cost on a new vette.
@@Karmy. The all new 1978 Challenger was a Gallant effort. ;) With 3 full speeds, (plus reverse and neutral) a lusty 114 hp and genuine front wheel drive (no jive!) these cars could reach 60 mph in 2nd gear in under 20 seconds. Although it's 85 mph speedo wouldn't tell on you C/D once recorded a one way top speed of 98 mph in a 1982 'GT' model with the big block 2.6L HO engine, upgraded to 122 hp. "Mitsubishi, takes you where you want to go."
Where does Dodge get 50 years from? I counted 24 years 1rst Gen '70 - '74 , 2nd Gen '78 - '83 , 3rd Gen '08 - '20 that's not 50 years I still like the Challenger, but 50 years is a lie. I like the truth. 2021 will make 25 years. Vanishing Point Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@MarspeedCars That is the word from Automotive News. No V-8's will be available, the hot one will have a 2.9L inline 6. It will be a Fiat design. Most will be inline turbo 4 cyl. Could be pushed back or eliminated if FCA finances deteriorate further. :((
Lets see, $5K to $6K for icing on the cake ? Me thinks not. Yet many will rush to get these vehicles. Me ? Meh, why ? For that kind of $$$, show me the beef ! Light weight package,: Racaro seats, lithium battery, etc. You know like Mustang and Camaro, really spice it up not ginger bread.
I rather have an increase in horsepower instead of all the cosmetic BS touches. Dodge really need to bump up the 6.4 HP to at least 510 to 540. The are getting left behind.
If the bump up hspwr of 392 it'll be SRT all over again, they'll price it right out of the market once taxes, option & Insurance is concerned.... a few will pay 4 a few extra horses vs a standard scat but an advertised 500+ will put ya in whole new tax bracket, they'll force options to justify it, like there are still mopar 17 shakers setting on lots with ppl trying figure why there still trying sale a 3 yr old specialty model, it never moved!! ppl got financing for moderately loaded or basic scat instead, 50,000 is used hellcat terrority....
It looks cool but you can probly find similar and better wheels for your challenger and just have it wrapped or plasti dip in similar or better color for way less
I don't think Canada's getting shafted though as stated. Think about it! Only 70 in one color means in twenty or so years those will be the ultra rare ones people will be trying to find! Making the Canadian models the more valuable ones to collectors!!! So Canada will actually come out on top!
It's very tempting to get a 50th Anniversary R/T with the 5.7! I love what they have done with the interior & exterior new color schemes, I especially dig the 1970 Challenger R/T dash animation as I owned (2) '70 Challengers including a 440 auto R/T! Thanks for covering this news!
Yeah but they will only be made 1 year. I wish I had the money to buy one and let it sit for 50 years so I would have a 1 year production car with no mileage on it
I think the 50th Anniversary Editions are too limited. Why not offer them to all-comers with equal opportunity? I tried ordering one from the North West's largest dealer and I was told basically to get lost. I have a 2017 Camaro 2SS with every option which I special ordered with Chevy home-office help. The window sticker was filled ! So Dodge, Chevy sold over 5,000 50th Anniversary Camaros. That brings a lot of money to the Corporation. And MANY happy customers.
I have #37/70 in the Challenger GT 50th anniversary RWD in Frostbite with flat black hood, top and trunk lid. Love it. Was my birthday gift from my husband.
I just ordered a HellRaisin Scat Pack Widebody 50th Edition, totally loaded. I’m told it should be here in either March or April. I’m beyond excited to get it!
In case anyone is looking for a Gold Rush w/ shaker, as of March 26, 2021, there is one over at Autonation Dodge Arapahoe in Denver (go to their website to see if it's still there). I didn't care for the Gold Rush color IRL, nor the wheels. It has a sunroof and I was banging my head on the bulge in the headliner from the track (I'm 6'-3").
Fair point, I love my Daytona now and the fact that it’s “limited edition” so these must invoke the same response amongst new buyers. Should be pretty sought after years later too
Yes, a little too much for some stitching and a few minor things here and there. That money could be spent on mods that make the car stand out much more.
Really wish they could make a small run of these and badge them as Plymouth Barracudas. Yes I know there's no Plymouth division now but there's no reason a limited run couldn't be sold out of Chrysler dealerships.
I like the V8 widebody with the coloured shaker hood. Dodge is economically smart to milk that design and just tweak the looks, options and power. Enthusiast cars don't need a complete new look every 4 years, it's a waste of money. Imagine drastically changing your house that often (wasteful). Thumbs up dodge.
What about the Jeep Commander? When was the last time anyone heard anything about them? I used to own one, and I'd love to see the history, pricing, specs, etc. The kind of thing that you did with the Dart, Aspen, Caliber, etc. But yeah I really would love to see that! :) Like so he can see, if you're interested!

I believe the produced more of added colors since they early ones sold.out ..they carry same challenger 50 in grill and on rear spoiler..but they don't have shaker hoods or dash plate with Production numbers 0-70 for each trim ND color ..so u have 50th cormmerative ..and 50th anniversity that are numbered only
Wish they would’ve hopped up the V6 for this model. At least an exhaust and a cold air intake. I would never buy a V6 but I think those would be cool options
Most of my old school Mopars have been B body cars, but once did own a 74 challenger and was the only e body that I've ever had. In fact other than it and a 70 duster, they were all b-bodies. My first car was a 68 charger, and actually owned two of the gorgeous machines over the years. #1 was only a 318 car, but the second was an RT with built to the nuts 440 + added six pk and was one badass Mopar. Especially since it was a 4-speed car, and a fricken blast to drive. LOL Forget MPGs, it was more like gallons per and certainly did produce a whole lotta smiles though 💪🏼😎
Nice big cavernous interior with the Belvedere's and Fury.. Really wasn't any heavier or slower than my '70 Chally RT 440 either and plenty of room for 6. My 'Stang and Iroc were 2 seaters, period. ;)
Great overview. It’s nice to see a large manufacturer release truly capable one-offs that are truly unique. They may be over 10 years old but can’t deny Dodge is still selling a lot of these.
You'll have your chance. There will be at least 3 more years of production, just like they are now. They haven't changed at all since 2015 (Aug 2014 build). Save your money. It will happen. Unless you decide you really want an electric Mach One. That's not a razor... ;)
Well I say congrats to the designers this is a very appealing and artful edition of the Challenger, I am partial to the GoldRush; will be interesting to see how fast the orders are placed.
A little help for the aged HEMI would be nice, how about a Stage 2 dealer installed kit for a msrp of $1495? The parts have been there for a decade. The 392 is 9 years old, could use a retune also...I'm getting tired of paint, decals, wheels and nothing else. Two years to go, make them SPECIAL!
What about the 1320 scatpak that model is special and until the C8 vette comes out the fastest naturally aspirated car from the factory,so it’s not just stickers and wheels.
