This is my first impression review on my 2020 Ducati Monster 1200S Black on Black. This video is my first motovlog, if you enjoyed it please like and subscribe. I plan on uploading videos once a week, anything from rides, reviews, upgrades, scenic roads and more! Most of my riding will be in New York and Connecticut, I haven't seen many motovloggers in this area, so I want to show the beauty this part of America has to offer. Thanks for watching and ride safe!

Why did you go with the 1200 vs 821? Needed more mustard?
@MostroMoto
@MostroMoto 4 года назад
Ducati NYC Vlog Haha yes the 821 is a great bike, but the ohlins suspension, single-sided swingarm, and the beast of an engine pulled my heart to the 1200s! Thanks so much for watching your stuff is amazing big fan! 🔥💯

Rafal Matysiak Hello! This bike definitely has a good amount of power, but the 3 different riding modes (Sport, Touring, & Urban) really change the way the bike acts. If you had a Duke 690 you shouldn’t have any problems with this bike. That being said if you do end up getting this bike definitely start with Urban mode until your comfortable with more power, because sport mode is definitely no joke! I hope this helps with your decision, feel free to ask any other questions! Best of luck with your decision! 🏍💯

Good video. I have a 2017 1200S no regrets awesome bike. The only thing is that on occasions you'll get a false neutral between 4th and 5 th. But the bike is great fun to ride so I don't complain about false neutral. When you can chase sports bikes, crank it over to the edge of the tyre in corners and cruise across town in comfort it ticks all my boxes. Enjoy your bike mate she's a beauty!
@MostroMoto

Kym Taylor Yeah I have experienced a couple false neutrals but lucky not too many. It’s honestly a perfect bike, like you said great for around town, or the back roads. Even comfortable on longer rides. Thank you for watching! 🏍🔥

Good video! I'm picking my 2020 Monster 1200s 'Black on Black' on Sept 1st. got the week off to get it run in, can't wait. I've got a pile of aftermarket parts piled up in my garage ready to fit fit once I get it home.

Ian Chamberlain 🎉 🎉 congratulations! that’s great! Picking up a new bike is the best haha. What kind of parts do you have? I’m looking forward to adding some aftermarket parts to mine as well, there is so many it’s hard to choose what to get! I’m definitely looking into some rizoma parts!

@@MostroMoto So far I have R&G rear spindle/crash bungs which allow the use of a standard paddock stand which I also have. Evo-Tec rad, oil cooler & engine guards, Evo-Tec front spindle crash bungs, Quadlock mount with wireless charger & finally a Powerbronze dark smoke instrument cowl. I'm waiitng on Evo-Tec frame crash bungs to come back into stock. I'm undecided if I'm going to fit an aftermarket exhaust, think I'll just ride it with the stock can for a month or two as it sounds pretty good on all the youtube videos I've seen & heard! I've also specced the heated grips and bought the 2 year extended Ducati Warranty.

@MostroMoto 4 года назад
Ian Chamberlain wow that’s a good amount of upgrades you’ve got. I like the idea of having some crash bungs I should probably look into getting some as well. But yes the stock exhaust really does sound great. But If you like a loud exhaust then maybe SC Project or Termis? Your going to love the bike, im exited for you! 😎💪🏼🔥

I thought the quick shifter on this bike is for transiting up through the gears, not down. If you down shift without using the clutch you will cause excessive wear on the gears. A down shifter (auto blipper) blips the engine rpm to assist gear engagement. You will notice the engine does not blip when you down shift down. My bike has 400 miles on the clock and I had a problem finding neutral. I was told that as the clutch wears in this will improve. I found an article that said if you have this problem put the bike on a paddock stand to raise the back wheel then fully engage the clutch and select 1st gear. If the wheel is rotating then the clutch isn't fully engage and requires adjusting at the clutch leaver. I wasn't aware the clutch was dragging, but after making the adjustment I can now always find neutral. Great video. Very informative. Drive safe.
@MostroMoto
@MostroMoto 3 года назад
Hey! I was going through my comments and I realized I never hit submit on my response to you, I apologize! The 2020 1200s has a up / down quick shifter installed. The regular 1200 models don’t. With the Ducati quick shifter you can shift both up and down without hurting the clutch / engine etc. the bike does it very fast it’s hard to pick up on camera. As far as the neutral issue goes, I also have had that problem. Definitely a bit troublesome getting it into neutral sometimes, but it’s definitely gotten better over time on my bike! Thanks for the questions & comment. I appreciate it & ride safe 🤘🏼😃

Great video man. One thing i have to disagree with is that this can totally be used as a starter bike I know because its the bike i started on 5 years ago. 2014 Monster 1200S.
@MostroMoto
@MostroMoto 3 года назад
Jeremy Runge thanks for watching & commenting! Wow that’s good to here you started on one, I just think that as a a beginner you’re more likely to drop your motorcycle, and make mistakes. And mistakes / drops on a Ducati can certainly be more expensive than other bikes. That being said if you’re a careful rider I’m sure it would be a great bike to learn on, and grow into! That’s a great comment, and I do think your certainly right about it! Ride safe 😊

I ordered a 1200 S over a month ago. None in my area - got a call 2 weeks in saying if I wait, I’ll get the first 2021 model. It arrived last Friday. Having the Termignonis installed, with the LED lighting, steering damper, heated grips, tail tidy and rizoma bar-end mirrors before delivery. Hopefully this week it’ll be done

@@MostroMoto I bought the COMPLETE exhaust assembly. It's been installed, just waiting on other items to be finished. I bought the Sport Accessory package, but I still think the tail plate sticks out too far. Going to look into Evotech for another tail tidy

@@earnold0807 That's great, almost done! Evotech makes some really nice products! If you like the look of my tail kit a made a brief before and after video you can check out. It is by New Rage Cycles, and it is there tucked option. The tail looks so much better, it really gives it a sleek design.

@@MostroMoto UPDATE: First I'm 5'6" so I lowered the seat height to flat-foot it. On another note, the complete assembly Termignoni exhaust is absolutely ridiculous. Not only does it sound 100% more aggressive and louder, but the double barrel exhaust is gorgeous.... get the full assembly. You should know, I had the 2019 Scrambler Cafe Racer, but my friend totaled it 07/04/2020. While I like the quickshifter, I've used it so much that it makes it feel like a big scooter at times... Cafe Racer didn't have it. Performance of the Monster 1200 S is vastly different, though

Nice video. I have a 1200S myself and like it a lot. I noticed your comment about your fuel consumption being around 37 mpg. I also noticed that you are driving around 50 mph at 6000 rpm on gear nr 3. I usually run on gear 6 at 3000 rpm if I am cruising that type of roads . That should get your consumption around 49mpg at those low speeds, from my experience with the same bike.

@@MostroMoto Thank´s :-) I´ve actually put on the termignoni-system and mapping, and been thinking about the fuel consumption. I´m not sure, but sometimes it seems to want a little more fuel, but it could be my own driving style has changed. I also think the torque changed a little. I might have lost in the lower register and gained in higher rpm´s. But, like I said, I´m not sure. I´m thinking about putting the stock-stuff back and try it again next summer. I only used the stock exhaust for one week, so I don´t remember exactly how it behaved.

How well does your rear brake work? I just bought a '21 a couple weeks ago. The rear brake has nothing unless you stand on it. I rarely use rear brake anyway...so...ehhh... And I've read it is a common thing on Ducati's. Now that you've just gotten past break-in miles I am wondering how your rear brake performs? Great video!
@MostroMoto
@MostroMoto 3 года назад
The rear brake is pretty good on my Ducati. Since I posted this video I have ridden over 2,300 miles on the bike. You might need to get it adjusted, sometimes the brake will need to wear in a bit because its so new & once it has worn in then might need to be re adjusted. Thanks for watching my video!

great vid, im thinking about one of these, does the heel of your right foot hit the exhaust? I sat on one in the shop and mine was bumping up against it, which i think would annoy me too much so that i would not buy
@MostroMoto
@MostroMoto 4 года назад
Thank you so much! Yes the heel of my foot does touch the exhaust guard. It’s definitely something you get used too, and doesn’t bother me any more. But it is a bit odd at first! If your dealer allows it definitely try to test ride it!

I had a 821 Stealth and I loved that freaking bike. But last year bought a M1200S 2020 for so good price (the company went bankrupt) so got a very good deal with the Termi slip-on. 821 Sounds really good to with the termi but the 1200s with that extra power and Öhlins is a sick bike. It´s scares me sometimes.. So no it is not a beginners bike. Start with the 821, such nice handling bike. But the 1200s is a real monster! :) But it is not so fun with the original exhaust.. So if you guys buy a Monster replace the exhaust! Drive safe

matey, in sport mode with the wheelie control at 2, does that mean u can still wheelie a bit? or like..does it mean the bike will let u keep the wheel up just a certain height or? lol how does that work? Thanks!
@MostroMoto
@MostroMoto 3 года назад
Great question! If the bike is in sport mode with wheelie control on at 2 it will still wheelie. But after a certain point the bike will want to put the front wheel down. But if the bike is in wheelie control 1 or off then it’s definitely a bit easier to wheelie!

Hey, thanx for the vid! How is the monster 1200s 2020 different from the 2021?
@MostroMoto
@MostroMoto 4 года назад
Thanks for watching my video! I haven’t been able to find too much information on the 2021 model. However from what I have found Ducati might be upgrading the swing arm, exhaust, frame, and display. From the research I’ve done we can expect to see the 2021 model released late 2020 early 2021. Also because of Euro 4 emission regulations, it looks like the middle tier monster 821 engine will be replaced with the Hypermotard 939 (937cc) engine. That is because the 821 doesn’t meet the standards for Euro 4. I’m exited to see what Ducati comes out with!

But i was verry happy that i bought it...i did a test ride with a 821 but it vibrated to much ...otherwise i maybe bought a 821. About the 1200 S...i ride in touring mode...never tried sport (maybe later) ...also never tried urban (dont want 100 hp ;) ) The power is easy to use....untill now it never surprised me.....if you want to ride calm and slow ...its easy :) and if you want to ride crazy and fast ....its also easy :p ONE TIP ===> BUY IT !
