Same with my dad. He always liked Larry Walker, but never thought he was good enough to be a Hall of Famer. I showed him that Foolish Baseball video and he realized he was better than he originally thought. And ended up changing his mind, that he was definitely a Hall of Fame player.
Dempster is right. Larry was a hero to Canadian kids in a period when there weren't many in the major leagues. He was breaking in around the time the Jays were in dynasty mode which helped to really grow the game up here.
Four of the last five outfielders going into the HOF have been Expo Alumni which means they were drafted/signed by Nos Amours. Think about that. Dawson, Raines, Guerrero, and Walker. The only non-expo was Griffey.
@@ibraheemrao8434 He played only about 30% of his games at Coors field. Adjust all his stats so that they are level and he is clearly a HOFer. Tell me why he is not?
@@joeblow1818 I misunderstood your comment and I always wanted Larry to get into the HALL OF FAME because every fanbase deserves atleast one hall of fame r.
The amount of negativity and disdain in this comment section is just atrocious. This guy should’ve been in sooner, but he’s just ultimately grateful to get in.
He's the only Rockie in the GIF, and he's probably going in wearing a Rockies hat. We got to see the last year and half with the Cardinals But before that even though he was an opposing player it would've been impossible to not be a fan of his.
@@joemckim1183 Arenado is in the discussion as far as all-time greatest third basemen. He is, in actuality, probably the most talented player the Rockies have ever had. But I'm stoked that Larry made it, and since Larry made it, Todd might make it.
NaghaviSystem well when you played how awesome were you? You didn't, ass. If the air had anything to do with it then ALL the players would be in the hall of fame. Grow up and when you work for 20 years plus at a sport you can talk, until then keep quiet.
@@susanplumpton6274 larry Walker was one of the best tooled baseball players that played .great defense 7 time gold glove good speed great batting ave 313 power great arm had everything if he played in this era he would be a 400 million dollar man
Big Votto fan, but while the voters are more "Moneyball" types, so despite Votto's great OBP, they will see Votto's relative low power numbers for a 1stbaseman, and maybe not vote him in.
Larry would make a great neighbor. All the best to him and his family. What a fabulous man and 5 tool athlete. So overdue. Most telling stat: Larry's away slash lines were better than Dave Winfields. Career.
One of the most talented to ever play the game. It's a joke it took this long. He had the numbers. Excellent RF with a cannon for an arm. He wasn't great because he played half his games at Coors. Glad those dumb ass writers finally got something right.
Larry's always been cool. And I'm happy for him..But as far as him being a HOF'er I dont know..The differential of his stats from Coor's Field.(which in the 90's was crazy for production!) to his stats away from that park is more than shocking. He hit .382 in Coors/.282 outside of Coors..Big difference on power numbers too..He was a great 5 tool player though
While I understand your point, the more advanced metrics we utilize today adjust for ballpark. Walker’s WAR and OPS+ figures are all HOF-worthy. For instance, his road slash line of .278/.370/.495 is really, really good, with him actually outperforming another HOF outfielder, Ken Griffey Jr., in OPS. Walker also was an awesome RF, winning seven gold gloves and having a 94 TZR, which are really good figures. He also ran the bases really well, with 40 runs added from that alone. Overall, he was a tremendously talented ball player, who if not for injuries, probably would have had a chance at 450 HRs and possibly 85-90 bWAR.
People can not underestimate the influence that foolish baseball had on Larry Walker getting elected. People at my job who don’t even care about baseball tried to school me about Larry after watching foolishes video. Foolish dude you have no idea the impact that you have and ty Larry for being the man
Mattingly should be in the hall. I'm a huge Walker fan and I'd say myself that Don needs to be in, and actually should have been a first ballot inductee. That's why you should also be happy for Walker, he made it in, many others who also deserve it don't. There are more than just "pure stats" involved IMO. Mattingly? Season grand slam record, multiple gold gloves, possibly the hardest person to strike out ever/ ect. They need to look at more than just production numbers. They did with Ozzy (and it was warranted).
Those damn b****** needs to stop saying foolish baseball. I understand they're mad because Barry Bonds in Rodger Clemens are not in . I agree those two the greatest pitcher and position player should be in the Hall of Fame. But at the same time that's not knock people that are already getting inducted in down. I watch Larry Walker in a final days the Colorado Rockies and with St Louis as they went to the World Series. He was one of the best five tool right fielders I've ever seen you should have been in in his first year all because he played at Coors Field. Congratulations Larry Walker and Derek Jeter
@@DenalPvP my bad the article that had read had the angels on the last of teams that didn't have a player in THE HALL OF FAME but I just realized that article was from four years ago this month.
Montreal gave you your chance in baseball. You should of never played pro ball if it were not for montreal. Better yet how the heck did you even get nominated.
