I'm not a plumber, but this video explains everything great. Excellent work!

Super helpful video. Pulling out that green piece to allow the diverter to run both fixtures at once is a lifesaver for me!!

Excellent explanation ! One question though. At 2:35 it's explained the ibox shows "top" to indicate the top. What if the ibox is installed up-side-down ? Won't it work ? Could you clarify please.

Firstly, an excellent video. However I thought that I would share some of my experiences with you. I’m writing from London and have had a shower with Ibox installed for some 10 years. The Box that I have was not provided with isolation valves however these are easily enough installed as part of the supply tubing installation. I also have a pump installed dedicated to the shower. This is turned on automatically by sensing flow through the shower. The flow sensor is part of the pump assembly, a pretty standard arrangement. Lately however there has been a lengthening delay between turning on the shower and the pump starting. I eventually tracked the problem down to the non return valves that are installed behind the function block (not shown in this video). Changing these cured the problem. This was difficult to find since all of the symptoms pointed to a problem common to both hot and cold supplies such as the thermostatic valve or the pump. In fact the non return valve seals had deteriorated simultaneously on both supplies and while you might think that a failed seal would cause a leak, in this case it caused the valves to stick closed. Hope that this helps with someone having the same problem.

Interesting. Normally you start to see some debris build up on the thermostatic element (cartridge). Directions say to clean it once a year, but almost no one does (including myself). But if anyone comes across the situation where the water is getting as hot anymore that will be the issue ( the hot screen has debris on it and it's not allowing enough hot water in. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi, I just had the select system installed in one of my showers in my newly built house. From day one, the water pressure has always been diabolical. So bad that we can’t even use it. When we asked the plumber, he blamed it on the overhead shower and said “unfortunately these type look fancy but the down side is that you don’t get pressure with them especially if installed upstairs “. Something didn’t sound right as we have a pressurised system and one would think it shouldn’t matter where the shower is installed as the pump will do the work? Side note: water pressure on bath tap and vanity unit faucet is brilliant and in the same room upstairs. Could it be that the plumber has made a mistake in installing this thing or has the water pressure been reduced? We have no legal restrictions for water in Ireland by the way. Thanks in advance

Would be nice if you could explain how to remove the operating handles and trim plate to get in and clean the cartridge i.e. maintenance

Thanks so much for the info. Do you consider two functions if i have a shower head and a bath tub spout? If it is, do i need a diverter? A tub spout comes with a diverter will do? I looked up on line for diverter. what is a difference between diverter and diverter valve? Do i need a diverter valve? Is there a diverter for two functions only? It is because the one in you illustration is a 3 way diverter (valve?).

I have the pressure balance1 setup, I would like to increase my GPM flow to the shower head. No laws restricting this in my state, but I cannot find the flow restrictor. It is not on my shower head so I assume it is in the ibox. Any help appreciated.

Hi. Regarding the Thermostatic Trim w. Volume Control and Diverter, what diverter position sends water out the top outlet, 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock? Thank you.

Excellent video and demo, I do have a question I'm hoping you can give me some advice on. I have the Puravida pressure balance trim 15407401 with a separate diverter and my shower heads have been leaking constantly the last few weeks but not my body jets. Should I replace my cartridge or any other way to test whats causing the leaks? Thanks in advance

Great video as I begin the installation of an Ibox. Does the black adjustable ring have to remain on during installation? I'm having a bit of difficulty with the depth on a standard 2x4 wall.

I have a Hansgrohe valve that is a Thermostatic Trim W/Volume Control (part# 04230000). The problem I am having is that I can not get cold water to come out of the shower head. The temperature value will turn clockwise from the 6 o'clock position to the 11 o'clock position and then if I push the button will move closer to the 12 o'clock position. As I turn the value to the upper position the water will get slightly cooler but is still very hot. in order to have the water be tolerable the temperature value needs to be adjusted as high as possible so as to not get scolded. This is especially annoying in the summer when you might want to take a cooler shower. The temperature value is rarely moved down past the 10 0'clock position as water would be too hot. I contacted the contractors that installed it, they were no help. I contacted Hansgrohe and they told me to reduce the temperature on my hot water heater. This did not seem right to me. In watching videos on youtube, I am learning a bit more how to adjust the temperature on my Hansgrohe unit, but want to ask you what could be going on here as you appear to be the most knowledgeable about its function. 1. Is the unit installed correctly? 2. Is it just a matter of adjusting the hot and cold mix as shown in some of the youtube videos by removing the handle and then moving the plastic adjuster to the colder position. Please advise. Thank you.

Hi Jeff, Sounds like your thermostatic portion is not calibrated. With the bottom handle off you will see the stem of the cartridge. You generally want to turn that stem with pliers so that the temp is 100 degrees and then you add the handle directly on. I believe your issue is that the handle is being restricted form having a full range of cool-hot. And the handle is being put on and only allowing warm-Hot. Look on page 12of these directions. assets.hansgrohe.com/mam/celum/celum_assets/16__hruh1033_pdf.pdf

Hello there, I'm having exactly the same situation right now and I called different contractors already but it looks like they don't know what they're doing, I remodeled my bathroom 2 months ago and I started having this issue like 3 weekend ago, is there any video were it shows you how to DIY fix the thermostat cartridge yourself or fixing the temperature cause as right now I have no cold water at all😣😣😣. Thanks in advance

Isn't there a pressure balanced with volume control option?

So I've got the pressure balance. Can't figure out how the service stops work. I assume left open right closed but they seem to just turn endlessly. What am I missing?
@codysworld6363
@codysworld6363 2 года назад
you only need to turn 1/4 of a turn to shut on/off. One does hot and the other does cold. If you have turned more than a corner of a turn you may have loosened the stop to the point of almost falling out.

Currently I have a thermostat w volume control, is there a way to add a part to make it thermostat w volume control and diverter for a tub shower combo without having to buy a whole new unit?
@codysworld6363

You can keep the ibox rough , but you will need to order a new trim. You will need the therm with volume control and diverter. No quick fix, but easy swap once you have the new trim. Hope that helped.
