Hey all, I'm back with another test ride! This one's special - I had the chance to test ride a HD Street Glide, the Harley equivalent to my Indian Chieftain! Did I like it? Did it stack up favorably to my Chieftain? Check out my test ride and find out!

It's more a matter of weight distribution. The Chieftain has a lower center of gravity versus the Street Glide, so you feel the weight much more on the Glide.

I was under the impression from watching others that the “low center of gravity” is something of a fiction? If that’s it, totally ok - it makes a big difference!

@@DMVSoloRider Oh it's 100% a thing. Just look at a Sportster vs a Softail. Sportsters are lighter, but they have a higher center of gravity, so they're more likely to "tip over"

Fair enough! Indian’s definitely doing it right then! You know, I wouldn’t mind taking a Sportster out for a full day of riding. I’ve heard others criticize it’s weight/handling, but I honestly didn’t think it was too bad on a short test ride. 🤷‍♂️ I’m starting to think the real issue is that I like every motorcycle I ride. 😂

First upgrade to my 16 streetglide was extended heel toe shifters. Makes all the difference! Stock ones are definitely in the way. Great video btw!

Thanks, I appreciate it! I only tried it a couple of times, but I have to admit it’s a nice thing to have! I’ll have to look and see if there are any extended ones for Indians!

Undecided, may ride off and on during winter months, depends on how cold it gets this year.

My magic solution is long johns, sweats (the old school kind wirh elastic at the ankles!), and a pair of overpants. Lol Keeps me warm enough to deal so I can ride. Just got heated grips too. I figured they’d be more of a gimmick, but they get real hot, so looking forward to using them!

Heel toe shifter is a must on a tourer. If you have lowers sometimes your boot will keep kicking it when you are reaching to upshift. The heel shifter solves this potential damage to your lowers. The weight of the street glide you get used to it after a week of riding. I am a 5’6 shorter rider and have no problems with my 2020 street glide. IG: @DCcycler

👍 I’m sure I would have gotten used to any of the Harleys, and I would have been happy riding any of them every day. But out of the box I think the Indians have a pretty serious leg up in terms of power/performance, weight, etc. 🤷‍♂️

😂 but why is that? I’m so not a mechanic - just doesn’t make sense to me that an engine making similar power would feel so dramatically different in engine breaking compared to the Thunderstroke. 🤷‍♂️

@@DMVSoloRider im not sure either. Probably has something to do with the bore and stroke of the motors. Harley is smaller bore with longer stroke while the Indian is the opposite.

Let’s see...Road Glide, LiveWire, then a bit of a rant video with something Indian did that really set me off, then another ride, and then maybe there will be something super bright red and fast roaring around on my channel! 😂 With my work schedule I can’t manage more than 1 video a week, so if I just dump them all at once there wouldn’t be anything new for a stretch, and I don’t want to do that. 🤷‍♂️

The big rage lately seems to be the Road Glide. I sold my 15 Road Glide and picked up a new Street Glide and I just love this bike. The torque band is much better than my 103 was and it feels sportier to ride to me. More nimble than my Road Glide felt for some reason.

Did you get a 107 or a 114? I actually find the fixed fairing bikes to be a little more nimble, but the batwings to be more planted/comfortable at low speeds, particularly in DC stop and go traffic!

Did you just use the first 3+ minutes from your 883 video again in this one? You should probably be more respectful of your viewers' time, brother. Some of us spend way more time on RU-vid that we probably should, lol. Aside from that it was a really good video. Thanks for your perspective on the two. As for your HD dealer/salesman, I think it made all the difference that they knew you were there just for a test ride and no intention of buying. It's possible that your dealer is just a good one. All I know is that when a sale is on the table, the sales staff at my local HD dealer turn into a pack of smiling jackals.

Thanks, glad you liked it! I did re-use the intro. I figured there will be people who don’t want to watch a Sportster video, but will click on a Street Glide video, and I thought it made sense to give them the set-up. And someone who watched the last might just fast forward. 😂 I’m still learning how to make these. My original plan was to just make one video for all the Harleys, but once I was reviewing the footage I felt like that was giving short shrift to them, so this was how I decided to do it. Lessons for next time (after the Road Glide and LiveWire I mean!). 👍
