2020 Hyundai Palisade Review - Better Than a Kia Telluride? 

Imagine being 5"2 and your driving. You accidentally hit the memory set button for your 6'5 spouse. The seat starts moving back and you cant reach the gas or brake. THATS WHY YOU CANT CHANGE THEM WHILE DRIVING.

I think Kia is more distinctive looking but this is definitely a looker as well. Hyundai and Kia are not boring these days! Kudos to your awesome reviews!

We just replace our 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with the Hyundai Palisade. We drove the Pilot, Traverse, Atlas, Volvo, Highlander, CX-9, Ascent and even the Telluride. The Palisade felt on par with the Volvo for luxury, but at $20K less and way more room - it was an easy decision. The unibody really makes the Palisade a mid-sized exterior with a full sized interior. Hyundai's technology, warranty, amenities blew away all of the other competitors. The Kia we drove had some interior fit/finish issues that were pretty obvious. I think there's some Q/C inherent with the Palisade being built alongside Genesis G90's in Ulsan, Korea. I'll also add that the fuel economy has surprised us. We have the FWD version and 55/60 hwy speeds we've seen 30/31mpg in steady cruising and 29mpg 75/80. Pretty amazing for a vehicle this size. Actually made me go look up what the heck Atkinson cycle was. It's magic! Lastly, because many reviews are missing these - when you approach the back of the locked vehicle with the keys in your pocket, if you wait by the rear of the vehicle it will beep (not honk) and then open up the rear gate. No foot waving or button pushing......just stand for 2 seconds. Why else would you be there unless your hands were full and you wanted in? GENIUS! When you unlocked the vehicle there are puddle light that illuminate from under the side view mirrors and the door handles are backlit. Gotta admit, that looks pretty cool. As does the 64 colors to choose from for interior ambient lighting. Of course my wife picked purple.....why wouldn't you?!

I'm in love with that interior in the Palisade and the trim that looked like a Yacht the light color work for me. If I was to buy a Palisade, it'd be the top trim with the Yacht interior. Absolutely gorgeous!!! 😍😍😍

Got our Palisade a few weeks ago. LOVE it! The lane keep system is sooo good. On the Telluride vs Pallisade question, it was pretty much a tie, but the key benefits of the Pallisade were the power folding seats (we use that all the time), having more space in and under the console area, and the more luxurious looks since it is my wife’s daily driver in the city. Great review... loved the Jetski action 😉

Wireless charger near cup holder is all good. I think all phones that charge wireless are IP67 or IP68 water-resistant already.

The Telluride and this are the most beautiful vehicles in this class.

Just bought the Palisade SEL earlier this month. I actually like the 20" wheel option on the lower trim, much better than the limited. My wife initially wanted the Tell U Ride, but after realizing our local dealers were adding market adjustments to the MSRP price, we went and looked at the Palisade. Was happy to see that Hyundai dealers, were actually willing to deal. I wanted the graphite, but she wanted white, so that's what we went with. I initially thought that dark colors looked better as well, until we saw the white, it is a completely striking pearl "hyper white", and really makes this suv pop. Loving it so far, and even like the style better than the Tell U Ride, especially inside.

Disagree. This looks better in light colors, especially the pearl white. The Telluride looks better in dark colors.

I think the palisade looks more luxurious and spacious than the Kia. I love the layout of the palisade and the back row seats are adjustable. Overall I like the palisade more than the Kia

We bought our first SUV together and after researching and watching every video on youtube. It had to Hyundai Palisade 2021 Caligraphy, nothing came close to what Hyundai Palisade offers including free maintenance for 3 years and warranties.

Palisade over Telluride. I must admit I love both of them. They are pushing others in the competition to their limits which is good for customers. Hyundai/Kia/Genesis have hinted brining most of their Tech standard across board by 2022. Interesting times ahead.

Can’t wait to grab a Palisade, love the looks over the Telluride. I think it’s mostly because in the ultimate trim of the Palisade you get body coloured lower/wheel well trim instead of the black plastic that will eventually fade. Both great looking vehicles, but I have yet to see a Telluride with the black rim option here in Canada. Palisade lane departure camera for the win 👍

Finally, my moment has come. My wife and I just purchased a Palisade. All thanks to the Straight Pipes! Okay, maybe not all thanks to you guys, but certainly a contributing factor. Even got my wife to do a visor test. See you all again when I talk her into a Kia Stinger for me.

I’ve test driven both. Really loved the Telluride, upfront. But when this came out, the styling had me. Currently have a 2018 Q5, but wanting more travel room. Right now, looks like you can spec the Hyundai at any level, with whatever you want, unlike Kia. I’d love the top level, with the Yacht Trim. VERY nice. Nice job on the review.

I've seen a bunch of tellurides but sat my first palisade today. I thought I liked the telluride better but now I think I like the palisade better. Has a more luxury vibe to it.

I’ve seen them both in person and the Palisade is much more striking and elegant. Where the telluride does good at blending in with other cars on the road the palisade stands out and makes other cars look dated. Both are great options imo, especially for the price. Thank you South Korea!

Just picked up a white Limited AWD! I had placed an order back in Dec. for Feb/Mar delivery, but someone backed out on an identical spec as mine, so the dealership sold it to me. I love this car! I really like how well it handles for a fairly big vehicle and I also like how even if you have it in Comfort, the AWD system will send quite a bit of power to the rear if you start to accelerate quickly. I test drove a FWD Palisade and could definitely feel the FWD-ness whereas the AWD feels a lot better, especially low-speed 90-degree turns. I was coming from a loaded 2018 C-class which had a sticker that was significantly higher. The Palisade, while not directly comparable, does not feel like a step down in any sense. In fact, the cooled seats in the Palisade actually cool whereas the ventilated seats in the C-class were barely noticeable even all the way up.

Great video guys! You can't go wrong with either of these Korean big rigs. Sooooo nice! There's up to a year waiting list for the Palisade in Korea!

The genesis version will probably bring the power to that vehicule

Hope we get it here in Europe too. I’ve had 2 Santa Fe’s and I loved them for their practicality, mk2 was quite upscale in -06 too.

I also rock the Telluride looks over the Palisade. I feel like it will age much more better. Also, why aren't any reviewers out there talk more about the engine reliability on these SUVs? I like that they used NA engine and normal auto transmissions on both Telluride and Palisade, but I do want to know more about how reliable the drivetrain/ powertrain are. I think the only reason people are on the fence on buying a KIA/Hyundai is because of reliability. I hope Yuri and Jakub would help us make a better decision if it's really worth buying these over a Toyota/Honda by providing more information on powertrain reliability, in this case the Telluride or Palisade. Otherwise, another great review! Keep it up!

I agree 💯% that the Kia Telluride and the Hyundai Palisade should be tied at number one. My mom just got a Hyundai Palisade Limited and loves how stylish, comfortable, and how much tech is in the car. And I will claim that it is the best SUV my mom will ever own. If you have $44,750 for a new SUV then get a Hyundai Palisade and you won’t be disappointed

Great review! Recently purchased a 2022 Palisade Calligraphy AWD; there are still some areas for product improvement: add power folding exterior side mirrors, add sunglass holder in interior and add illumination for the overhead light buttons above driver and front passenger (the POI buttons are illuminated but the light buttons aren't, that's odd and an omission in form/function) and those rims on calligraphy trim are a bit 'loud', design something more classy the ones on current and previous Limited trim); and last but not least, consider adding hybrid powertrain as is offered on many other Hyundai products.

This makes me question why you would pay twice as much for a 'luxury' badge, it looks fantastic and has everything on top trim?

Hyundai/Kia came in and took over the segment. They are in the top 5 (sometimes taking up two different spaces) on many different car review lists. They went having none to being some of the best in one model year.

Mazda has a great front end look and I'm glad they use it across the board.

FYI, you can fold the 3rd row up and down from the 10.2 screen.

Howbout adding torque in NM to the specs, at least for cars we Europeans can buy. After all, Canadians are like the waywayway-western Europeans of the continent👀

Telluride looks way better in my opinion.

I'm pretty settled with the Palisade over the Telluride. One thing I don't like about the Hyundai is the amber strip on the top corner of the front wheel wells. It looks like a cheap afterthought. Great review, I'm gonna get a jetski now!

I don't know if it's because I was slightly distracted by eating lunch while watching this video, but it was a little confusing figuring out what features/specs were with what trim and which trim you were currently on. This may just be me/a select few, but maybe possibly talk about all of the features in the current trim you are driving and then compare it to a different trim after? I'm not sure. Overall though, still love watching you guys every Tuesday and Friday! Great video in general!

It's not as bad as the USB next to the cup holder. Most of the wireless charge enabled phone are at least splash proof, although it can get messy but likely won't break anything.

Palisade is soo popular in Korea, it takes 6 months to get this car.

So when is Genesis going to come out with their version of the Palisade, equipped with the 3.3T, nappa leather, and adaptive suspension for $60k? They need a crossover ASAP, if they are to survive.

Palisade Looks best in White, hands down. My wife went in looking for a darker model, but we agreed the front end daytime running lights and the massive grille blended in beautiful on the white trim.

Telluride for me, those headlights are just beautiful

I have a KIA Telluride with the BEST color that any vehicle can have, the brown/moss green. Wow! And I am loving it more each day. Its the EX Trim which is nice, but, I feel a little bit cheated as this should have had the 7-inch, full-color screen for the instrument cluster as the top trim, and they could at the least equip it with fog lights too, for so much money. Still enjoying it anyway. That dark color makes it sweet!

The wife just traded in her 4 runner for a 2020 ultimate palisade and i love it...lol...we looked at both but she liked the palisade for the chrome ...what a beautiful car and the 4runner looks like dirt compared to this and there both the same price.lol way to go Hyundai

I think the general consensus on the styling is that the Palisade looks more luxurious and premium than the Telluride inside and out. I'm thinking the style will not age as well as the Telluride though, which is more conventional looking. I'm still wondering how one changes out a headlight bulb in all these Hyundais with bumper mounted headlights. Access from the wheel well?

I know many people like the looks of the telluride because it’s more sporty but I love what Hyundai did to make the car more luxurious

In my opinion the Palisade looks better then the Telluride - because of the chrome bar on the side it looks a little bit like a pickup. It’s a shame that both cars aren’t available in Germany. I am also wondering why these cars are so cheap in the USA/Canada. Here in Germany the top trim of the Santa Fe costs 53.500€ (incl. taxes) which is 59.500USD/78.500CAD. And you get the Palisade for 44k$ (excl. taxes?) Geatest thing to see would be a Palisade with an improved fuel cell system of the nexo or a hybridsystem.
